DENVER RESCUE MISSION REQUESTS 10,000 TURKEYS Denver, CO - Denver Rescue Mission is reaching out to the community for donations of frozen turkeys, weighing 12 pounds or more, to feed the homeless and poor during this holiday season. The birds will be served at the Great Thanksgiving Banquet on Wednesday, November 21st, used in 1,200 holiday food boxes and distributed to poor families in Metro Denver through churches, schools and non-profit organizations. Denver Rescue Mission will provide about 136,000 meals during the holiday season. Additional items needed for Thanksgiving meals include: canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned pumpkin, boxed stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, gravy packets, canned cranberries, and canned yams. Donations of can be dropped off at the Lawrence Street Shelter (SE corner of Park Avenue West and Lawrence Street) anytime.
