Denver Urban Spectrum has been spreading the news about people of color since 1987. On Saturday, Oct. 19, Denver Urban Spectrum will present “Denver’s Voice 37,” an elegant evening of entertainment with spoken word, comedy and music, showcasing some of Denver's premiere performers at the Noor Event Center in Aurora.
A VIP reception will be held at Cableland on Friday, Oct. 18 for sponsors, participants and volunteers.
ROSALIND “BEE” HARRIS
Publisher Rosalind J. Harris sits at the helm of the Denver Urban Spectrum institution, and has been able to expand and redesign the business despite a consistent decline in the newspaper publishing industry. She is a champion for community, an advocate for youth and a businesswoman who is highly recognized and respected in society. As an advocate of civic, business and nonprofit organizations, Denver Urban Spectrum has been the recipient of more than 100 professional and community service awards, locally and nationally, and now celebrates 37 successful years.
RUTH BOYD ELDER ABUSE FOUNDATION
The Ruth Boyd Elder Abuse Foundation was founded in memory of Ruth Boyd, mother of Rosalind “Bee” Harris, who tragically died in her home on November 3, 2008, the eve of Barack Obama becoming America’s first Black president. The foundation will provide caregiving services, counseling and helpful tools for aging adults, while raising awareness about elder abuse through outreach and education to save lives and improve the quality of life for the elderly population.
