Since 1987, we’ve been doing it! Yep…for more than three decades, our goal and mission has been to spread the news about people of color through quality journalism to metro Denver and surrounding communities. Good reporting is essential especially for people of color whose stories are not often portrayed in a positive light in the mainstream media. Denver Urban Spectrum is partnering with nearly 100 other newsrooms across Colorado to highlight the importance of independent, homegrown reporting that strengthens our community and bolsters our democracy. This is critical work. This is #newsCOneeds. The funding we raise will help us continue our award-winning work in 2021, allowing our dedicated journalists to continue producing reporting that informs our readers on important issues that affect their lives and their community. We are proud of our extensive coverage impacting communities of color in 2020 including COVID-19, social injustices and systemic racism, the presidential election, 1619 in America, education, and so much more.

Good-bye 2020 – Hello 2021! We look forward to reviving and upgrading our Urban Spectrum Youth Foundation journalism program with college students who will dispel the myth of “Fake News!” We look forward to obtaining resources to help delve into more investigative stories that deal with unfair practices and social injustices. We want to bring on board an experienced journalist to expand our coverage. And most importantly, continuing to report on the COVID-19 pandemic and its far-reaching effects in the communities of color.

But we can’t do this without your help. Last chance to support this campaign! Time is running out and we have just a few days left in our #newsCOneeds campaign to meet our goal. From now until Dec. 31, contributions up to $1,000 will be matched thanks to the Colorado Media Project. So, can we count on your support because every little bit helps. Will you invest in independent news that fuels stronger communities? Give now.

Rosalind “Bee” Harris DUS Publisher P.S. If you have already donated, please accept my heartfelt thanks! Please help us spread the word – forward to a friend who would like to be involved.
