Director’s Note So Christmas and New Year feel a long way behind us already, and the thoughts of spring are not far away. This means for us, huge amounts of touring. Spring 2014 is looking like one of our busiest ever in terms of the amount of work we have on tour. Trying to pick out some highlights is really difficult and unfair, so I am not going to, I am going to let you flick (all be it digitally) through our brochure to see some of the great things we are involved with this side of summer.
New Realties enters its third season of work, following a brilliant autumn programme with audience numbers at all our partner venues increasing from season one with out exception, do check out some of the great work taking place as part of this programme. See you at a venue sometime soon I am sure. David

Life & Loves Of A Nobody
The Anatomy of Melancholy
Rachel always wanted to be a star. Rachel wanted to run away with the circus. And have her name in lights. And escape from this house. And she dreamed of the future. But people can be ugly. The closer they are the uglier they get. And there’s nobody closer to yourself than yourself. Life is a juggling act. Love is a high-wire. Try to do both at once, and it’s a long way down. But even if the act goes wrong, you can still be famous for the fall.
Cape Wrath Third Angel presents a story of family, of fellow travellers, of whisky and chocolate, of the longest bus journey in Britain. Told to an audience of just 14. Heartfelt, moving, compellingly intimate, Cape Wrath takes you on a journey to the edge of the island.
“The great thing about Third Angel is you never know what you’re going to get… heavenly work” - The Guardian
The Anatomy of Melancholy has been described as “the greatest book ever written”. Nearly 400 years old, it is a vast, 1500 page attempt to identify the causes, symptoms and cures for all kinds of melancholy. Written by vicar and librarian Robert Burton it contains all the wisdom of its age - arcane, outlandish and hilarious. Yet, amidst all the wild stories and suppositions, much of its advice remains as urgent and profound now as it did then.

Hammer & Tongs digs deep into the human compulsion to argue the toss. Two men and a woman quibble, tiptoe into tiffs, debate high-mindedly, negotiate shoals of red herrings, take offence and descend into glorious, undignified, disgraceful, bad behaviour. From farcical fisticuffs at a wedding disco to squabbling for control of the TV remote, Hammer & Tongs presents a very human comedy – physical, funny, absurd, musical, moving, and absolutely bloody-minded… Written by Daniel Jamieson, Theatre Alibi’s Hammer & Tongs follows previous successful shows for adult audiences including Goucher’s War, Cobbo and Caught.
