About DePelchin Children’s Center DePelchin Children’s Center is the leading center in Texas for children’s well-being, with a focus on mental health, foster care and adoption services. For more than 120 years, DePelchin has been turning lives around with comprehensive care for children, including psychiatric services, counseling, programs for at-risk youths, parent education, residential treatment, foster care and adoption. DePelchin is a not-for-profit organization and gratefully receives its support from individuals, foundations and corporations; government grants and fees; and United Way agencies. In 2012, DePelchin expanded beyond Greater Houston by joining with Caring Family Network, an Austin-based foster care and adoption agency, with locations throughout Texas including Austin, Brownwood, Lubbock and San Antonio.
Vision We envision a world in which every child is safe and healthy. Mission We strengthen the lives of children by enhancing their mental health and physical well-being.

Dear Friends,
A
t DePelchin Children’s Center, we believe that every child deserves a healthy and happy childhood. Our work focuses on a child’s well-being, helping those struggling with dark days rediscover their bright futures. Every day, we turn lives around for children and their families. What began 120 years ago when Kezia DePelchin took in three young orphan boys has evolved to become the leading center in Texas for children’s well-being, with a focus on mental health, foster care and adoption services. DePelchin helps children and their families each year through a range of services, including counseling, psychiatry, residential treatment, at-risk programs, and parent education in addition to foster care and adoption. This annual report outlines the impact we made in 2013, and more important, the lives that were changed forever because of our efforts. A few highlights from last year include: • the hiring of Dr. Oscar Bukstein as DePelchin’s first Medical Director, charged with advancing our vision for high-quality children’s mental health services;
• a record number of more than 150 adoptions for children in the foster care system who have been waiting and longing for a forever family; and • a winning touchdown for DePelchin’s first fall fundraiser, “Friday Night Lights,” which raised more than $450,000. Thanks to supporters such as you, DePelchin was able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of more than 30,000 children and their families, both here in Houston and across Texas through our affiliate, Caring Family Network. When Kezia DePelchin embarked on her journey to help orphaned children, she faced the same challenges in the community as we face today. Our work has only started. We hope that you can help us in meeting this challenge. Creating healthy, happy children with bright futures is at the heart of our mission. Thank you, again, for your generous support. Sincerely,
Charles D. Powell Chairman Board of Directors
