2012 Annual Report
About DePelchin Children’s Center DePelchin Children’s Center is committed to meeting the needs of children as one of the largest providers of mental health, foster care and adoption services in Texas. Through its clinical expertise and special brand of caring, DePelchin turns lives around, providing a full continuum of care including psychiatric services, counseling, residential treatment, programs for at-risk youths, parent education, foster care and adoption. DePelchin is a not-for-profit organization and gratefully receives its support from individuals, foundations and corporations; government grants and fees; and United Way agencies. In 2012, DePelchin expanded beyond Greater Houston by joining with Caring Family Network, an Austin-based foster care and adoption agency, with locations throughout Texas including Austin, Brownwood, Lubbock and San Antonio.
Vision We envision a world in which every child is safe and healthy. Mission We strengthen the lives of children by enhancing their mental health and physical well-being.
/1
FROM THE BOARD CHAIRMAN Dear Friends, 2012 was a landmark year for DePelchin Children’s Center with new leadership, new programs and new branding highlighting what we do: “We turn lives around.” This annual report details the impact we were able to make with the support of friends such as you. Our mental health, foster care and adoption services helped more than 30,000 children and families achieve outcomes that are truly remarkable. Whether a child was struggling in school with a behavioral issue or a child had been removed from an abusive home, DePelchin provided the support needed to turn that child’s life around and make a meaningful difference. Each child’s life is important; and for that reason, we take the work we do here very seriously. We want to make sure we are best meeting the needs of children as they are today. Throughout the past one-hundred and twenty years, DePelchin has evolved to meet the changing needs of our changing community. This year our organization, under the board’s leadership, will be undergoing a strategic planning process to once again ask ourselves whether we are doing all we can to help children – both in Houston and throughout the state of Texas. As the leaders in the field of children’s mental health and child welfare, it is our responsibility to do so. I am excited about the future of DePelchin. I am also excited about the future of so many children whose lives will be brighter because of your support. Thank you, again, for helping us “turn lives around.” With sincere gratitude and best wishes,
Pamela H. Lovett Chairman Board of Directors

Volunteers
DePelchin would not be able to meet the needs of Houston’s children without the selfless dedication of time and energy from our community and corporate volunteers. Our sincere thanks to all of the volunteers who helped us make a difference for our children and families in 2012. DePelchin makes every effort to record all donations correctly. We apologize for any errors and ask that you contact us at 713-802-6292 or advancement@depelchin.org so that we may make the appropriate corrections.
