D E PET R I S

P R O F I L E I’m a French architect graduated from the National School of Architecture of Paris - Belleville in 2015.

NICOLAS D E P E T R I S a r c h i t e c t

As an architect, I have international experience working in France, Japan and Germany. I worked on projects of various scales: housing, office refurbishment, public facilities, retail, garden and interior design. I’m also a painter and filmmaker. The main topic of my painting is the relationship between Human beings and Landscape. In my paintings the architecture is expressed as “Human track’’. My work had been exhibited in UK, France, Monaco, Japan & Germany. Therefore I have experiences in various fields of visual arts, and my multifaceted viewpoints and techniques can be used for architectural thinking, design and presentation. Through architecture, I would like to provide high quality space and time to people living today, and leave a better cultural track for future people.

Nice is the 5th city of France, connected to an important freeway network, high speed train and the 3th French airport. However, transition zones between major arteries and peripheral tissues remains problematic, due to the specific geography of the region, located at the crossroads between coastal communications and different axes along most major valleys. Located on the north-east entrance of Nice, the project takes place between highway, roads, railway, industrial buildings, a river and a disadvantaged district.

The idea is to reprogram the zone by the insertion of public facilities with an important landscape work, to develop the strong potential of the site, focused on education and business tourism. This project takes the opportunity to develop lines of communication towards main valleys, as these are the only potential directions for long-term development.

P R O G R A M The program includes an architecture school, a film school, a media library, a conference center, a train station with hidden parking and parks. This project revitalizes the area by providing a mixity of uses and social diversity, while reconnecting the site to the city of Nice and territory.

L O C A T I O N Meudon is a city located 4km away in the south-west of Paris. Due to a complex urban and historic context, Meudon contains many historic and industrial buildings and infrastructures. The famous one is the Meudon castel, destructed in 1871. Although the castel burned, caves remains under the actual castel garden. Castle museum entrance

P R O G R A M This project comes from the idea of creating new landscape vocabulary, according to historic remaining traces. I created a mixed program, including a media library and the Meudon Castle Museum.

Section Hall B / reception / wood claustra

P R O G R A M This is a refurbishment of the an office building, including 9 floors and 2 halls. I designed a claustra composed by thin wooden slats, with a metallic structure. The idea is to hide the interior bay window to create a warmer atmosphere in the main entrance hall. The project included a new wooden reception desk covered with steel and glass panels, to match with the rest of the hall refurbishment.

L O C A T I O N Axe France is an office building located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

P R O G R A M

The idea was to use this rooftop as a lounge space for employees and clients. The empty rooftop is transformed in a green garden. The ground, composed by paving stones blocks, is covered by the stabilized gravel, allowing an accessibility to persons with reduced mobility. The gravel takes place on the terrace according to a composition in curves, alternating white and black gravel.

The project divide the patio in two spaces: lounge and contemplation. The lounge space is composed by an exterior parquet, where customers and employees can seat and discuss or have a lunch. The contemplation space is inspired by the Japanese garden philosophy, Zen, built as a miniature of the world, with mountains, forest and seas.

Axe France office building is located in the 13th arrondissement of Paris.

P R O G R A M This project was a competition for a complete renovation of the Axe France building, an office building in Paris. DTZ Investors needed to change the original identity of the building to have a more intimate and welcoming atmosphere. Our project started from the idea of changing the way of using spaces, by additing more functionalities. A simple corridor can then become a gallery, a reading space. UN-Habitat program - Affordable housing Affordable Housing and facilities

Status: research with the United Nations Ris Orangis, France 94 housing offices 1 cinema 1 hotel 1 cultural center 1 restaurant 1 exhibition center 1 elevated boardwalk 1 swimming club total 48000m²

L O C A T I O N Ris Orangis is a city located 20km away in the south of Paris. Connected by highways and local trains, this site has a strong potential. On the passed decade, housing prices in Paris has raised drastically, and part of the peripheric cities are getting more and more attractive. With only 40 minutes away from Gare de Lyon station, Ris Orangis is getting more popular for actives and young famillies and it became necessary to developp an urbanism and landscape planning of quality.

P R O G R A M The program was defined by a simple observation: with French centralization, some cities located around Paris lack their own cultural and sport equipment. In addition, the annual need for new housing in France being around 400,000, and free space to build in intramural Paris is becoming scarce, it seems reasonable to densify areas with low densification on the outskirts of Paris. This project therefore develops the concept of active densification, proposing the construction of housing coupled with the creation of sports and cultural facilities

L O C A T I O N

P R O G R A M

The project is a 12m² store located in a mall, in the center of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Adventure Japan is a company specializing in selling high quality artisanal Japanese products, to promote Japanese traditional handcraft. The concept is to create a scenography, like a museum, as a small exhibition room of 12m², composed by lateral shelves and a central constellation of displays. I created a minimalist wooden frame, to contrast with the diversity proposed by handcrafted products materiality and pattern.

L O C A T I O N This project is located in Issy les Moulineaux, is a business district, located in the south of Paris, France.

Plan 1m

P R O G R A M The building is articulated around a central patio, originally empty. The idea was to create a circular green patio to fit the central and circular form of the patio. I designed a spiral form mixing white gravel, grass, 3 heights of plants and a fragmented terrace. The green patio creates a more enjoyable atmosphere, dedicated to employees and clients, ideal to make appointments and meetings.
