What exactly is “typical Kalkhoff”? A whole lot! There are countless arguments in our favour, and innumerable qualities which set us apart from our competitors. We would like to summarise the most important ones for you here.

Our toughest critics are the people in our quality inspection department. We have one of the most modern test centres in Europe, and our engineers monitor this centrepiece of our production. They test practically everything – from the frame and fork to the crank. Quality controls are carried out throughout the production process. Once assembled, each bike undergoes a 100 % functional check. Everything is done in Germany, by us – from concept and development through to production on site. For some that may be something exceptional. For us it is simply what we do.

One of the golden rules for any cyclist is a daily reality for us: you don’t get anywhere by standing still. Certainly not when you are an innovation leader. The fact that we are constantly reinventing two wheels has helped us become one of the most respected bike manufacturers. The latest examples: our Impulse Evo and the sophisticated shift sensor technology. So not only do we ensure progress, we also stay an idea ahead.

2. EVERYTHING MUST HARMONISE Too many cooks spoil the broth. We take this adage to the nth degree: unlike other bike manufacturers, we develop our bicycles ourselves. So we offer bikes in which everything harmonises perfectly, and which ensure consistently perfect riding characteristics coupled with the highest level of innovation. Take the e-bike for instance: we develop the drive systems in-house, individually for each type of bike, and in an appealing design. It is simply a coherent overall concept – right down to the last detail.

4. COMFORT? NO PROBLEM! Cycling has a lot to do with relaxation. But you can only relax when everything interacts as smoothly as possible. We offer our customers concepts which ensure exactly that – total comfort. These include ergonomic grips and controls, comfortable saddles and high-quality suspension forks and seatposts. The result: problem-free riding comfort.

5. SERIAL TEST WINNER Does success breed idleness? On the contrary – it inspires us. As proud as we are of our regular test wins, we’re certainly not resting on our laurels. After all, every award is also an acknowledgement of our hard work. And the motivation to keep developing the best bikes.

1 // ELECTRONIC GEAR SHIFTING Gentle and reliable: gently pressing on the button is all it takes to easily change the gear level. In addition to the simple and ergonomic operation, the system FAG-velomatic developed in Germany by Schaeffler also boasts integrated individualisation: the user can freely select in which gear to start off again following a stop. And all this without having to move a muscle. 2 // LONG RANGE The 50-cell battery with its ample capacity of 17.5 Ah is designed for a long range, and provides the necessary energy reserves even for extended trips.

3 // SMART DISPLAY Compact and communicative: the stylish new Impulse Evo Smart compact display, with Bluetooth module and USB charging socket allows easy connection to a smartphone and access to the Impulse Evo app for seamless navigation. 4 // SHIMANO STEPS Kalkhoff is adding the sNext battery to the Shimano STePS system. The advantages are quite apparent. Apart from a capacity of 17.5 Ah, its positioning behind the seat post emphasises the cooperative solution. This helps to maintain a low centre of gravity as well permitting its successful integration into the frame shape.
