Conceptual Beginnings Year 1 - 2014 In the first year of architecture school the basic fundamentals of
space,
representation,
and
conceptual ideas were implemented in our work. Designs converting the exercise of movement into abstract forms and objects were among
the
first
assignments.
Other works such as conceptualizing stories from “The Invisible cities by Italo Calvino, into portraits and models, were of critical thinking application.
All these projects served as the foundation for the fundamentals I would craft in the future of my career.

Coastal Front Orphanage Year 1 - 2015 N.A.A.B High Pass Award After an extensive investigation in flooding, implementation of water management was then applied to an architectural object. The object went through a vast change in volumetric forms in order to find the correct way to handle the flooding. Extensive thinking in the design, concept and materials were needed to bring a noble solution.
A successful adaptation of the volumetric form, chosen materials and specific vegetation awarded me with the high pass honor in the NAAB accreditation.

Hostal Paseo al Mar Condado San Juan P.R. Year 2 - 2015 Following a large-scale documentation of the “Santurce, Condado area, a site was identified to propose a hostel. Breaking from a basic cube into a four volume structure allowed the project to have a clear path from the street to the beach. With each cube having a supporting program, the conceptual idea of a straight shot into the ocean was
granted.
Adding
tropical
materials to further attribute the environment, gave the hostel a millennial young audience appeal, that was appropriate to the site’s tourist area. Volume process and site analysis were critical for the solution of the hostel.

ReThinking Dontown “Fox Delicias Student Housing Year 2 - 2016 Documentation of the downtown district of Ponce was a must for this conservation project. As Builts of the old colonial buildings gave a sense of place and meaning to the site. Restoration of an old art deco theatre building was going to convert it into a student housing project. Changing the enclosed interior into studio-like rooms with a supporting program was a challenge taking into account the conservation essence of the project in order to preserve the art deco feel of the historic monument. Designing without damaging the front facade and many interior elements really encouraged me to have a mental balance between renovating and preserving.

Bond Tower University Housing , Ponce PR Year 3 - 2016 The need for student housing was needed in the university so a tall high rise building with underground parking was being proposed. With the concept in mind of having an interior atrium and new double space studios, I was able to give inmates views to both the exterior and interior of the building. Crossing bridges were also implemented in order to provide community sense inside the project. All the applications of building codes were taken to account in this building, as well as a structural design capable of withstanding the property. A deep design language was also adapted to the facade in order to resist heavy sun, embrace wind circulation and at the same time have an aesthetic appeal.

deployable Architecture Year 3 - 2017 After Hurricane
Maria
hit
in
2017 a proposal was needed for a deployable roof that could protect from sunlight and give shade in harsh conditions. This structure needed to be light and portable. My investigation led me to an origami shape volume that could enclose itself and the folding points hold the structure as a whole. To make the innovation more complet, in order for it to stay closed pressure was needed to keep it from opening. Metallic pressure points were added to then ensure a convenient way of closing and opening with just one pull.

Square Block Housing Downtown, Ponce PR Year 3 - 2017 In this project experimentation, housing was needed for all the refugees from the hurricane Maria hit in 2017. A steel structure with wagon modules used as housing space, was the formula for a fast construction building that could become a home for many in need. Located downtown, the design formed a grid which would allow the wagon homeowner to customize its space to its own need. In a community building environment many open spaces were implemented in order to create social interaction. The first floor was also completely commercial allowing the property owners to bring investment

Green Ville Santurce, San Juan, PR Year 4 - 2017 In a site dominated by suburban sprawl,
car
pollution,
dense
housing, contamination and poor public spaces, a new way of building was needed. A high rise solution with minimum land use was the proposition for this green oasis square. Located next to a historic landmark, the public space design was as important as the building itself. Having sport recreational spaces, urban theatres, environmental ponds, all working in different ground levels, made a very friendly public offering. The building was also implementing a mix use program, having different housing modules and adding to the public offering a tall wall monument used for rock climbing and recreation. PROBLEMS

University student Center PUCPR, Ponce PR Year 4 - 2018 ADC AWARD finalist Having proposed a new masterplan for the university, the current student center was in need of remodeling. Taking to account the main two paths that lead to the student center, the shape and concept was to make an inviting space that could welcome all who entered the building. The design closed half of the old interior courtyard into a university food court and opened the rest with a high terrace monument. Also in plan with a full reorganized interior, this monumental terrace would create the landmark sense the building was lacking. Equipped with sustainable solar panels and bright LED lighting, the new remolded student center would fument all day use to an innovative space.

Education City University highschool, San Juan, PR Year 5 - 2019 Looking for a new way of viewing the school, this capstone year project intends to change the image of the school into a piece of city. This new way of thinking will expand the use of the school, open it to new programs, renovate the public and private spaces, in order to create a new foundation
for
the
education
system. Located between a university campus and a downtown district, this school will become a bridge that will unite both audiences and create a unique urban environment. Lowering avenues, mixing programs and connecting paths were many of the challenges that made education a true city life experience.
