Don’t Pass the Gas

Good people doing good things… In this month’s issue, I want to tell you about Mary Colby. Mary is the Founder and Owner of Lizard Licked LLC, a clothing and accessory company mostly geared towards motorcycle enthusiasts. Mary is also my friend. You may have already seen her at events selling her merchandise. In 2013, Mary and her family suffered a house fire and lost everything. While that was a terrible tragedy in itself, it was during the time they were living in a hotel room that she found a lump in her breast. Shortly after that, Mary was diagnosed with breast cancer. After having a double mastectomy, she decided it was time to pursue a dream—designing her own purses. She could never find the “right” purse, or enough bling (I can relate—ha!) or style she was looking for. It was the same year that Lizard Licked LLC was born. The name means “whatever life throws at you, you’ve got it licked” and she loves lizards. You can see her logo reflects that! She started with purses and now does an entire line of men’s and women’s clothing and soon will be starting a line for kids. Wanting to give back, Mary donates a portion of her proceeds to “Angels of Hope.” It is a Michigan-based company made up of strictly volunteers. They help people with cancer pay their bills. She researched until she found the organization with the right fit for her. She also sponsors MMA fighter Jamahal “Sweet Dreams” Hill. Mary always incorporates the pink ribbon on her merchandise and is grateful to be a cancer survivor. Mary has two children and three grandchildren. Her motto is “You gotta be fearless” and believe me, she is fearless and, I must say, “badass.” Mary travels around the U.S. selling her merchandise, mostly at bike events. She loves Daytona and wanted to make sure I included one of her favorite pics of a cool guy she met there.
