TO RETURN TO THEATRES WITH ENHANCED 50TH ANNIVERSARY RELEASE

Fullerton, CA (Jan 26, 2022) – The acclaimed 1971 Oscar nominated documentary motorcycle film “On Any Sunday” (OAS) will return to theatres nationwide this winter/spring with an enhanced picture and audio release from Bruce Brown Films to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the iconic motion picture. The original film was financed by Steve McQueen’s Solar Productions and features McQueen as one of the stars along with Malcom Smith and Mert Lawwill. Malcom Smith credits OAS to his entire career for the “million dollars worth of publicity” he received from the film, ultimately being honored with the “Motorcyclist of the Century” title from Motorcyclist magazine in 2012. OAS is regarded as the greatest motorcycle film ever produced and is credited for changing stereotype attitudes of “bikers” and influencing the boom of motorcycle sales in the 1970’s. Nationally renowned rocker and AMA Champion rider Billy Morris, formerly of the band Warrant, commented “ONY ANY SUNDAY – is the greatest motorcycle movie ever made – and it was an inspiration when I first saw it. To see it restored and even enhanced on the BIG SCREEN to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of it’s release – I can’t wait!” Billy Morris will be hosting a showing of the movie at the Lorain Palace Theatre, Lorain OH on February 27th.

“I was inspired as a 9-year-old kid to ride motorcycles, bmx bikes, and just about anything else that had wheels when On Any Sunday first came out in 1971. Here we are now, 50 years later and we’re releasing the film again to be enjoyed by new

generations on the big screen for the first time,” said Todd Huffman, Pipeline Digital Media (PDM) Producer/Director. The process to repair, to re-color, and to remix the groundbreaking documentary by director Bruce Brown, maker of The Endless Summer (1964) began in early 2020. The remastered and enhanced film was originally only going to have a streaming and dvd/blu-ray release this year, but Bruce Brown Films felt a theatrical release is what the film’s director Bruce Brown (who passed away in 2017) would have wanted. “When Todd brought us this opportunity, we asked ourselves what Bruce would have wanted. And that was for as many fans as possible around the globe to enjoy this fully re-engineered classic on the big screen again together,” said Alex Mecl, President and CEO of Bruce Brown Films, LLC. “The work that has been done to remaster the film is truly stunning. It’s exciting and beautiful all over again.” Gathr Films is the distributor for the film nationwide with OAS and will use their Theatrical On Demand system to have motorcycle dealers, clubs, and fans of the movie place screenings all over the country utilizing crowdsourcing and social media to rally older and younger enthusiasts (under 50?) to see OAS on the big screen for the first time.

Good February to you!

Here it is again….the ‘Love’ month. I have given this some thought…how can you tell if someone is the real deal? I mean, not so much a heart thumping relationship with a significant other, but the real deal in anybody. Sometimes it’s just hard to tell. Well, maybe some light can be shed about that in the next sentence or two, please, read on… I believe it’s been said before, but it’s worth repeating, love is a choice. It’s not a feeling, not an explosion of fireworks and it really doesn’t make you all twitterpated….it is a choice. Now, we have all had that one friend come along that just twerks your jaw to be around them, but for some reason you just keep letting them hang out and be part of the moment. Why is that? Maybe it’s just the way they laugh or even whine that gets under your skin. Maybe they just have a need to be heard or seen. Who knows, but there’s something that just keeps you open to their presence, and you wouldn’t have it any other way. That’s love. Love moves you to even love the ugly in someone. So, let’s say you meet up with people that just want to be there to help you in any way they can. Maybe it’s a 95-degree day and they happen to have some cold water ready for you. Maybe it’s nasty cold day and you went on that ride anyway, and in the middle of the ride there’s a rest stop and a tent set up with hot coffee or cocoa and even cookies! That’s love in action. That’s the real deal. Jesus was love in action. He would stop what He was doing to help a crippled man walk that had spent years trying to get into a pool of healing water having no one to help because they only wanted healing for themselves. Jesus would go to a stranger’s house for a meal, allow a harlot to wash His feet with her tears and restore her dignity. He would take a tax collector, fishermen, doctors, lawyers, thieves and liars and turn them into disciples that would ignite the world on fire with His word. He would give up His own life to give you the chance for eternal life no matter what. That’s love in action…that’s the real deal. What kind of love are you looking for? Where are you looking to find it? Who can you place your trust in to believe it? We all ask these questions. We are all looking for that real deal. I found it in my Savior Jesus Christ. I choose to bring His love to you, sometimes by standing in the cold, sometimes by helping you park your bike in 95-degree weather, or the pouring rain. Sometimes in a moment of prayer for your safety on the road and yes, even for your beloved machine to hold up through the season. That’s love in action…that’s the real deal. We don’t hang out around you all to be noticed, we don’t join in your events to make you uncomfortable. We aren’t ‘wanna-be’s’ because He has already made us somebody’s and given us the privilege to go out into the highways and byways to share His love with you. That is love in action and we are the real deal. Be looking for us this coming season, we will be the ones with the smiles on our faces, going the miles to the places, that find you in the spaces, that allow us to serve you with love. Mary G.

As we’ve begun preparing for the 2022 Bike Show Series, we’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on what has made our shows a success and what opportunities there have been for improvement. This has really brought us to a discussion of what our goals have been – which has really been to provide a great experience for those participating in our shows. To that aim, we are really planning on kick things up this year. We are focusing more on making certain that there are more things for exhibitors to do at out shows – not simply leaving you to sit by your bikes. To that end, we are hosting more shows that are part of larger festivals – such as motorcycle rallies, county fairs, and bigger events such as Thunder on the Strip and the Vinton County Wild Turkey Festival! Additionally, we will be focusing more on the motorcycle owners. At the shows we will be doing more to introduce the exhibitors to those attending the shows and sharing some of your story. We will be conducting interviews at the shows and in many cases – these interviews will be finding their way into our magazines or online.

VINTAGE & VETERANS DISPLAYS

This year we are teaming up with a number of Ohio county fairs to help incorporate motorcycles into more of their programming. This will include several new BIKE SHOWS as part of county fairs across the state. We are excited at the opportunities this will allow as we showcase unique and classic motorcycles in front of thousands attending county fairs – that in some cases have been going on for more than 150 years! For several of the counties, we will be hosting VINTAGE & VETERANS motorcycle exhibits. In most cases these will be held in either indoor or covered areas and run the duration of the fair. We are inviting anyone with a motorcycle 25 years or older, a military model, or any make or model with a military / patriotic theme to participate. Selected bikes will be sponsored by Thunder Roads Ohio, showcased as part of the exhibit, and then featured as part of the feature bike show on the designated day. Selected exhibitors will receive a wristband / pass for the duration of the fair and a special VINTAGE & VETERAN’S EXHIBITOR bike show shirt at no cost to them. There will be a limited number of spots available for these displays, so we encourage anyone interested in participating to please submit a photo of their bike and information on it to BikeShowInfo@gmail.com. If you are interested in participating in a particular show – or open to dates throughout the series, please indicate that. There is NO COST to exhibitors for participating in these displays. We’ve always believed that the best thing about our bike show series is the people that both exhibit and attend. This isn’t just about the bikes – but about the people building and riding them as well. After doing these shows for more than 10 years, its great seeing how many connections and friendships that have developed over the years between folks coming to the shows. There’s a common bond that exists between riders – and there’s even more of a connection between the folks that take the time to restore, customize, or even create their own bikes. People start talking about what they’ve built, what they have at home, and what they rode up to the show. And this year – we are doing even more to help facilitate those discussions and really ensure that everyone has a great time at the show! Make sure that you check out our events listing on Facebook and follow the ones that are of interest to you. We will be posting updates and more details about the new programs as things are finalized. www.Facebook.com/ThunderRoadsOhio

Start Something Old: Vintage Bike Shows

After several successful test runs last year, we are looking forward to introducing a series of Vintage Bike Shows to the lineup for 2022. All bikes will be welcome and we will recognize the fan favorites, but bikes will need to be 25 years or older in order to qualify for the BEST OF SHOW and PEOPLE’S CHOICE Awards. We will be doing photo shoots and interviews as well with those exhibiting classic bikes, with hopes to share in upcoming issues of Thunder Roads and nationally through our partners at ReasonsToRide.com We are also exploring options of filming these shows and the interviews, in order to share with those unable to attend. Originally, we had intended for these to be “smaller shows” but it now looks like we will have several larger ones possibly incorporated into county fairs in 22’. The family friendly, interactive nature of these shows make them ideal for county fairs and regional events. Watch for announcements to come soon as we finalize details on these. Already we have several in the works.

Thunder Zone Vendor Areas

For the larger weekend shows, we will be adding THUNDER ZONE Vendor areas to our layout. These vendor areas will offer a tremendous opportunity to reach not only thousands of riders – but far more, as many of the events embrace the entire community, drawing attendees from throughout their regions. For more information on vending at these events and to be put on a list for updates, email BikeShowInfo@gmail.com

Looking forward, we’ve made a commitment to further developing the Bike Show Series – with the addition of more larger, regional shows. We will still have smaller community shows, but we are adding more shows connected with FAIRS, FESTIVALS, and of course MAJOR MOTORCYCLE RALLIES and EVENTS.
