MSTA FlyBy Week 2022 “Should I buy heated grips or heated
Motorcycle Sport Touring Association's largest regional rally returns to Marietta, Ohio, Monday, August 22 - Sunday, August 28, offering outstanding sport touring routes, scenery, fine dining, and social time in a location that is easily reachable from any direction. Lasting a full week, attendees are free to come as early as they wish, stay a few days or the whole week.
Every day is a riding day, with social time in the evenings. Most attendees arrive on Thursday, ride for two days and go home on Sunday. Saturday is the biggest riding day, so if you only come for the weekend, you'll still have a great day of riding with lots of fun folks. If you come early, Monday-Wednesday, you will enjoy a relaxed, small rally atmosphere where it's very easy to meet and get to know people.
Expect the parking lot to be empty during the day
Everyone will be out riding the twisty roads of southeast Ohio and West Virginia. 2207-03.jpg There are more than twenty official road and six adventure routes 2207-04.jpg to choose from or you can create your own, go sightseeing or whatever strikes your fancy. While there are no large organized group rides, you can ride solo, with friends in small groups or use our new "Find People to Ride With" forms. Here's how it works: 1. Circle your riding choices on the form- it takes less than a minute.
Add your preferred contact information at the bottom.
Leave your form on the stack of completed forms at registration for others to view. 2. Browse other riders' forms and use your phone to take pictures of the ones you want to connect with for easy reference. 3. Connect- Call, text or email others you're interested in riding with.
What's new for 2022
New Venue- Comfort Suites Marietta, located at 202 Cherry Tree Lane, Marietta, OH,45750, is an all-suite facility. Each suite has a full-size pull-out sofa and features a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and flat screen TV. Free full, hot breakfast buffet each morning. Free on-site guest laundry. Heated saltwater pool and hot tub are open 24/7. Camping: Multiple options are available nearby. Outdoor Lounge: Tuesday-Saturday, our trademark "Outdoor Lounge" will be located behind the hotel. We'll have plenty of chairs and pop-up shelters with tables so you can relax with friends.
There are no included meals for 2022, as many attendees prefer to ride long routes on the weekend and would rather catch a bite to eat on the fly. If you want something quick nearby there is Wings Etc, a sports bar with an extensive menu of good food- it's located just across the lane from the hotel.
Saturday Night Closing Ceremony-
FlyBy Week's closing ceremony will feature door prizes from Lemon & Barrett's Motorsports of Parkersburg, West Virginia.

BUCKEYE FIREARMS REPORT
OHIO’S NEW PERMITLESS CARRY LAW GOES INTO EFFECT
Key points and common questions regarding the new laws and how they effect you. By Dean Rieck, Buckeye Firearms Association Generally referred to as “permitless carry” or “constitutional carry,” Senate Bill 215, which is now in effect, makes several key changes to Ohio’s concealed carry laws: • Ohio’s concealed handgun license (CHL) will become optional. If you are currently qualified by law to obtain a CHL, you may carry concealed with or without a license. Other than school zones where federal law still requires a CHL, nothing changes regarding who can carry, what you can carry (a handgun), or where you can carry. The same rights and responsibilities apply whether you have a CHL or not. • You will no longer be required to “promptly” inform. If you are stopped by a law enforcement officer, you will need to inform the officer about whether you have a handgun only when or if the officer asks. And you are obligated to only inform the first officer who asks. • In Ohio, you will no longer be required to carry the CHL. If you choose to obtain a concealed handgun license, you will no longer be required to carry the physical license on your person while carrying a handgun. However, other states may still require you to have your license with you.
Here are some other points to keep in mind:
Permitless carry applies to "qualifying" adults. The media has widely reported that anyone who can own a gun can carry permitless. This is NOT accurate. Just as with licensed carry, you must be at least 21 years of age, not prohibited from possessing a firearm under state or federal law, not a fugitive from justice, etc. Refer to the concealed carry manual available at the Ohio Attorney General’s website for details. • Ohio will maintain the licensing system. It's now optional for concealed carry in Ohio, but having a license may be necessary to carry legally in other states. The license may also be used as a stand-in for a NICS background check at some gun stores. • Open carry has always been, and will continue to be, permitless. You've always been able to carry with your handgun visible and the new law doesn't change that in any way. • You can carry a concealed handgun in your vehicle without a permit. A rumor has been circulating that the new law prohibits you from carrying concealed in a vehicle. This is NOT accurate. If you're a qualifying adult, you can have loaded handguns and magazines on your person or stored anywhere in your vehicle 32 THUNDER ROADS® OHIO MAGAZINE THUNDERROADSOHIO.COM OHIO’S MOTORCYCLE MAGAZINE32 Ohio’s Motorcycle Magazine Powered by ReasonsToRide.com32 Ohio’s Motorcycle Magazine Powered by ReasonsToRide.com just as with licensed carry.
Common Questions: I applied for an Ohio CHL and was denied. Can I now carry without a license?
No. Nothing changes regarding who can legally carry a concealed handgun. You must still be a “qualifying” adult, meaning you are at least 21 years of age, not prohibited from possessing a firearm under state or federal law, not a fugitive from justice, etc. Refer to the concealed carry manual available at the Ohio Attorney General’s website for more complete information.
Can I carry without a license in other states?
That depends on the laws of other states. Ohio law applies to Ohio only. When traveling to other states, you will need to abide by the laws of each state you’re in. References include the Traveler’s Guide to the Firearm Laws of the Fifty States, a book we sell at BuckeyeFirearms.org, and HandgunLaw.us, a website that provides information on the carry laws of each state.
Yes. While the rules for carrying a concealed handgun remain the same with or without a license, there will be no residency requirement when this law goes into effect. Someone who is otherwise a “qualifying” adult may carry with or without a license whether they reside in Ohio or another state.

4th of July Jokes
Some people enjoy a day off on the 4th of July. But not fire. Fire works.
What kind of tea did the American colonists thirst for?
Liberty.
What’s the difference between a duck and George Washington? One has a bill on their face and the other has their face on a bill.
Why are there no knock knock jokes about America? Because freedom rings.
What did one American flag say to the other? Nothing, it just waved.
BECAUSE EVERYONE NEEDS A GOOD LAUGH NOW AND THEN...
I was driving along the highway in my truck yesterday when a motorbike pulled up along side me. The guy on the bike looked at me, pulled a wheelie and then did a handstand on the bike. Then he tapped on my window while standing up - and said, “You’ve haven’t got a spare cigarette have you?” I said, “A cigarette? You’re going to kill yourself!” He said, “No I won’t, I only smoke 1 a day.”
I got a motorcycle for my wife last week. Best. Trade. Ever!

OHIO’S MOTORCYCLE MAG!
TRO SCAVENGER HUNT
The TRO SCAVENGER HUNT is a special, indoor THUNDER RUN through the pages of our very own magazine. Hidden someplace within the depth of these pages is a special TRO PRIZE LOGO – see the sample here. It’s a version of our “wheel logo” with a treasure chest on it. It was inspired by Cole’s favorite TV show – Jake and the Neverland Pirates! When you find it, shoot us an email at BuckeyeThunderRun@ gmail.com with SCAVENGER HUNT in the subject line. Let us know what page and exactly where the logo is in this month’s magazine and we will put you in the drawing for some great TRO prizes – including some great gear and subscriptions to the magazine!
How cool is that?!
