Built to be worn. As passionate outdoorsmen, we have never found a flannel that we could wear both in the field and to the bar after getting blood on it. Â This is the foundation and inspiration behind Pladra: making a high-quality, field-ready flannel with a unique sense of style.

California is home. We are proud to call California home, and take advantage of all of its diverse activities, from hiking in the mountains to fishing in the rivers. We grew up here and have a responsibility to maintain our natural resources, as well as support our local community. All of our shirts are made in San Francisco, using local vendors from embroidery to sewing. This allows us to closely oversee production and ensure the highest quality of our product.

Building the best. We are constantly searching for what is around the bend, and what we can become in the future. Our materials and patterns have been refined over years of development and testing, and we continue to push ourselves further. We have re-imagined what a great flannel can be, and have taken the necessary steps to bring this ideology to life.

Quality of fit. Quality of construction. Quality of materials. At Pladra, we have built product on three fundamentals: functional fit, quality construction, and premium materials. Each one of these is significant to our overall goal of building the perfect flannel, and each works hand in hand with one another. It all starts with our patterns, which we have built from scratch, and have meticulously refined over the years. This ensures that we produce a functional and active fitting garment. Our sewing construction also reflects our passion for producing the best shirt possible- we use durable triple needle stitching in critical areas, match all of our plaid lines, clean finish the internal seams, and use high quality trims. Finally, we have searched the globe, looking for the most durable and comfortable fabrics available. We custom design all of plaid patterns, providing a modernized aesthetic to the classic flannel. These fabrics are soft enough to wear every day, yet tough enough to withstand years of use.

An inside look. When you think of the classic American flannel, you think of pine trees, cabins, and the wilderness. We try to bring this nostalgic imagery to life in each Pladra shirt by lining the cuffs, collar, and back yoke with a unique nature scene.

Solo time Spring is a quick insight into what’s around the bend. As hunters we always approach this time of year with optimism for the coming seasons. We can use the information we have at hand to predict what the future will hold. The following shots were taken in the rolling hills of northern California during this springs turkey hunt. Jeff was solo on this hunt and tells a story of what it means to explore the wilderness as a hunter on his own agenda.

There are many pros and cons when heading out into the woods alone. The biggest con is not being able to share an incredible experience with someone else. Every trip reveals something that you have never seen before, and when it’s over, there is always a feeling of “I wish someone was here to see that. But if you can get past not having someone with you, there are a lot of positives that come with hunting alone. The greatest takeaway from a successful solo-hunting trip is a feeling of accomplishment. To know that you, and only you, were able to do everything right and harvest an animal is an incredible feeling. There are so many variables that can go wrong on a hunt, but when it works, it comes with an indescribable amount of pride. For me, the best part of hunting alone is the connection with nature. Spending multiple days in the forest heightens your senses and makes you aware of every sound you would normally miss. A respect level is earned for your prey and the environment in which it lives. A hunt is a chess match of wits. The harder hunt, the more you appreciate the true beauty of Mother Nature. Not only do the solo hunts allow you to find out how wild nature can be, but it also allows you to find yourself. With no one to talk to, and disconnected from the outside world, time passes very slowly. I find myself reflecting on past decisions or what the future holds. But most of the time I realize how important the outdoors is to my life - how I still have so much to learn about the woods, and how this is truly the passion that drives me. A trip like this is such a personal experience, and I would encourage anyone to head out and create one of their own. Jeff Ladra Pladra Owner and CEO
