The strategic plan consists of 6 main strategies; ODA Strategy 1: Targeting younger generation to achieve long term change in perception and attitude while acknowledging the importance of wide spread campaign in general population, ODA Strategy 2: Establishing and enhancing mutual collaboration with partners for better and wider coverage of campaign. Partners constitute Government Agencies, Government Linked Companies, individuals, private sectors and non-Governmental Organisations (NGO), ODA Strategy 3: Enhancing organisational structure for more coordinated, sustainable, efficient and effective programme implementation, ODA Strategy 4: Addressing misconception on organ donation especially from religious and cultural perspectives, ODA Strategy 5: Promoting the use of media (main stream and alternative) for dissemination of information, ODA Strategy 6: Improving awareness and establishing better commitment of healthcare personnel in promoting organ donation.

LECTURE BRIEF: CPD FOR HOUSEMEN ON ORGAN DONATION Instructions: This Lecture Brief serves as a guide for house officers to conduct a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) session on “organ donation”. House officers are expected to do their own research on the topic as outlined by this Lecture Brief. House officers may also consult a moderator appointed by the Department to conduct the session. Introduction The increasing prevalence and incidence of end stage organ failures especially kidney failure has further increased the disparity between demand and supply of organs in Malaysia. As a healthcare professional, it is important for us to understand the issues involved in organ donation and transplantation to enable us to assist in addressing the problems. It is also important to understand the implications of these issues including from ethical point of view. Title The title of the CPD session is “Organ Donation: The Basic”. This is part of CPD list in i) Anaesthesia or ii) Emergency Medicine posting. Structure of the Session Presentation Discussion
