The current world record of 3,473, held by Kansas (USA), was set on 19th December last year. Proceeds in aid of Foyle Hospice, Children in Crossfire, Concern & Muscular Dystrophy. A magical trail that invites all to delve into the most enchanting nooks and crannies of our beautiful City. Classic Hans Christian Andersen tales such as ‘The Tin Soldiers’ and ‘The Little Matchstick Girl’ are brought to life through a mixture of classic storytelling, dance, music, visuals and circus arts. Join in the fun and discover how these classic stories are woven into the City streets. Locations include Pump Street (Garden of Reflection), St. Augustine’s Church, the Walls, Echo Echo Dance Studio and the Cottage in the Craft Village. There will be walkabout characters interacting with the public as they make their way to and from each location; Hans Christian Andersen, The Snow Queen and The Little Matchstick Girl. The public will be provided with a map detailing each location and advising show times. There will be three shows per day.

Mayor’s Christmas Grotto
Beginning at Guildhall Square the choral gathering will perform at Shipquay Gate then move to perform at Butcher Gate, Bishops Gate, Ferrquay Gate then return to Guildhall Square and Guildhall Foyer and Main Hall for the finale. A service of congregational Christmas carols performed by guest choirs, consisting of religious and secular songs, readings and poems.
This year Santa will sprinkle fairy dust over the Guildhall to allow children to visit a gateway into Elfwood Forest and meet Ellie the Elf. Children will walk around Reindeer Road and take a stop at the Ice Camp Fire. Ellie the Elf will meet the children at the forest gates and tell them stories of Elfwood and get them to help him wake Santa!
Choirs will sing at each stop around the City Walls, including a mixture of traditional Christmas Carols and finishing each set with a lively wellknown festive tune that members of the public will recognise and encouraged to sing along with.
