Teacher of The Year Arrested for Sex with Student

By Desert Star Staff San Bernadino - A teacher at “Yucaipa High School” in Yucaipa (California) was arrested on suspicion of having sex with a student (16). Math teacher Tracy Vanderhulst, 38, was sent to a San Bernadino jail. Her bail was set at $30,000. It is unclear if the 16-yearold victim is still at the school. Likewise, it was not disclosed how the teacher came under suspicion.

Investigators say there may be other victims in the case.

Vanderhulst is married and has two children. In 2017, she was named “Teacher of the Year” at the school.

It is the third time in less than a decade that a teacher at “Yucaipa High School” has been found to have a sexual relationship with a student.

Repeated sexual abuse by teachers makes headlines in the United States. According to a 2004 report by the U.S. Department of Education, about ten percent of students will experience sexual misconduct by a teacher during their school years.
