New Delhi (IANS) He pulled off the most understated celebrity wedding of the year when he got married to Delhi-based girl Mira Rajput. Actor Shahid Kapoor is loving every bit of it. Calling it a blissful change, the actor says he is a firm believer of the institution of marriage. In an interview with the GQ India - Smart Man's Guide, the actor shared his thoughts about marriage. I believe in the institution of marriage. I think its beautiful, but I don't think it should be enforced. What kind of relationship you want with the person you love is completely your decision. But I do believe one shouldn't run away from commitment, said Shahid. Link-ups and relationship rumors are part and parcel of an actor's life. And Shahid is no different. His high profile relationship with actress Kareena Kapoor created a lot of buzz, followed by dating speculation with Bollywood stars Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra. What are the most important things that he learnt from his previous relationships? Its important to express yourself and its important to listen. To say whatever you feel as soon as you feel it. When you speak about something after a certain period of time it loses its context... and its difficult for both people to see it for what it was. So its important to address it when you're there. And its equally important to listen with the understanding that you're not being judged, he said. Shahid will be coming on the silver screen for the first time since his wedding with the romantic comedy "Shaandaar", in which he is paired with Alia Bhatt. He has a message for all the would-be grooms as well.— In general, the groom should always be more understated than the bride... its important to allow her to shine. I don't know of any guy who grew up imagining what his wedding would be like while eight of 10 women did.

Gurgaon (IANS) She might be tagged as one of the most stylish actors of Bollywood, but Deepika Padukone says “I believe my personal style is very boring. I don't think that I have any sort of personal sense of style. And this is why I'm so dependent on professionals like Anju (Modi), who do a fantastic job,” Deepika said at the song launch of her forthcoming film "Bajirao Mastani." She feels "fortunate" to be in the business and have access to "such amazing people". "We are constantly dressing up for the red carpet, film premiere, for the shoot of film or advertisement. We are being styled for one thing or the other and this is why I think that when I end up checking my wardrobe, I just have jeans and T-shirts. I don't put much effort into my dressing up on daily basis," she said. The film's track titled "Deewani Mastani" was launched at Day One of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2015 here on Saturday. The song sets the grand stage of the film evincing opulence and magnificence. Recreating the setup of Aina Mahal, the song lays out mesmerizing visuals and plays well with the reflection of the dancers in the mirrors leaving a dazzling impression on mind. Deepika, who plays the second wife of Maratha Peshwa Bajirao is dancing with stoic face and expressing her love and admiration for Bajirao with her steps and eyes. The actress, who turned muse for designer Modi at the fashion gala, notes that she looks for comfort in her day-to-day outfits, and active wear has become her staple outfit these days. “I'm someone who needs to feel comfortable and I most often wear loose clothes. My latest thing is gym wear. It is the easiest. When I am not shooting, I'm in my active wear so that I can go to gym or go running any moment and it is very comfortable as well,” the “Piku” star said. Kathmandu (IANS) If you are holidaying in Nepal and want to enjoy sublime experience above the snowy peaks, just fly up to the majestic Mt. Everest. In less than 60 mins of the flight, you can fly close to Mt. Everest, the world's highest peak in the central Himalayas on the border of Tibet and Nepal. Travel agents here say private airlines are daily operating mountain flights for the tourists from Kathmandu. The best time to see the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas from the sky is September toDecember. Buddha Air, Guna Airlines, Agni Air and Yeti Airlines are among the private airlines daily operating Everest flights. "What an awesome flight it is. Within minutes it takes you above the mighty Himalayas. It was a memorable, life-time experience," Robert Barnett, said a British tourist. Added his wife Nancy: "It seems the entire Himalayas are just standing tall in front of your window. Among all, the encounter with Mt. Everest with white candy floss clouds is beyond description." She said everyone would have the opportunity to go into the cockpit, to get photos of the approaching Mt. Everest, located at an altitude of 8,848 m or 29,028 feet. While Mt. Everest is known as Sagarmatha in Nepal, in Tibet, also known as the roof of world, it's called Chomolungma, meaning 'Goddess Mother of Mountains'. In the 18-seater or 24-seater plane, every passenger will get the window seat, either left or right side to encounter the Himalayas, say airline operators. The prominent peaks included Langtang Lirung (7,234 m), Shisha Pangma (8,013 m), Dorje-Lakpa (6,966 m), Gauri-Shankar (7,134 m), Melungtse (7,181 m), which looks like a plateau, Cho-Oyo (8,201 m), Gyachung Kang (7,652M), Pumoki (7,161 m), Nuptse (7,855 m), Mt. Everest (8,848 m), its eastern peak Lhotse (8,516 m), Chamlang (7,319 m) and Makalu (8,463 m). For the Hindus, the Gauri-Shankar peak is religiously important as it's believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. HEALTH & FITNESS
New Delhi (IANS) With increasing interest in health and fitness to counter the effects of a modern stress-filled lifestyle, various fusion and experimental fitness methods like aqua aerobics, with its "therapeutic" effects, have become a "growing trend", say experts. Mumbai-based fitness trainer Deepali Jain, considered as being among the first to introduce the concept of aqua aerobics in India, says that the concept, which includes exercises like cardio, pilates and kickboxing, is a useful training method for obese people or the ones suffering from arthritis. Explaining the idea behind aqua aerobics, Jain said: "You weigh only 10 percent of your body weight in water. So when a person who weighs 100 kg, or who has arthritis in the joints, or cannot do any exercises on the land due to gravitational pull, enters the water, the load is lifted off the joints and he is able to exercise without pain. "Water is therapeutic and it removes the pain completely. Inside the water, everything becomes pain-free and you can exercise for an hour," added Jain, who holds her training sessions at a south Mumbai club called Body Rhythm. She says doing aqua aerobics every second day will help in stalling the progress of arthritis. "The moment you stop, you stop rusting. Elderly people face problems with walking, getting up, sitting. They are scared to get knee replacement. Doctors send their patients with prescriptions and I work on that regime," she said. Diabetics too have something to gain out of this training method. "It's excellent for diabetics because there are specific exercises to regulate insulin in your body. It is excellent for heart patients, the sugar level comes down to normal, and it is also an anti-depressant. It's therapeutic," said Jain.
24

The exercise session is also made interesting with use of exclusive water-specific equipment. "Inside water there are weight-bearing exercises. Dumb-bells specifically made for aqua. Bar-bells, ankle bells...we have specially made kick-boxing gloves too." At Jain's classes, "everybody is bonding: husband-wife, father-son, mother-in-law daughter-in-law. "It's a lot of fun". The trend of aqua aerobics with all its health benefits may be rising in India, but Brazilian fitness trainer Cristiana Pipoli, who is currently living here and training at Jaypee Vasant Continental, Vasant Vihar, says her classes consist of 80 percent foreigners and only 20 percent Indians."Aqua aerobics arrived 25 years ago, but it became popular in India only five to six years ago. In India, the swimming pool is outside and people don't feel comfortable in swimming suits," said Pipoli. She however added that for the last two years, there has been an increased interest in aqua aerobics among Indians whether they're 18 or 80! "I started getting more Indians in the last two years. Once they come, they are hooked. It's a different concept for them," she said, adding that "in general, India is waking up for exercise for the last two years". What makes aqua aerobics truly interesting is its diversity. "It is not just plain aerobics; one can incorporate several other techniques such as resistance training, Zumba, running, kickboxing, spinning and many other. It is extremely effective in increasing the range of motion as well," said Neeraj Mehta, international fitness expert and nutritionist, GFFI (Growth for Fitness Instructors) Fitness Academy.

SPOTLIGHT New Delhi (IANS) His boots and cameras have traversed nearly all of the globe, but hold a very special place for one of his favorite places on the earth India. Steve McCurry, whose camera captured the haunting and iconic "Afghan Girl" for an NG cover, said "secularism and inclusiveness are one of the greatest things about India" although there could be contradictions about the country. McCurry, one of the most renowned photojournalists in the world, was speaking to IANS from New York, before the launch of his book 'Steve McCurry: India' (Phaidon, ÂŁ39.95, 208 pp), which presents a vibrant India with "contradictions and excitements", as he terms them.
"The greatest thing about India is it is inclusive and secular. It is a home to people of many religions, castes, and communities. India has always been a place of extreme drama things constantly fascinating yet equally disturbing. It's a place of extremes," McCurry told IANS in a telephonic interview. He has travelled to innumerable countries, but the "openness and ability to speak freely" in India makes him feel "comfortable and safe", he said. As much love as he has for the country, Kashmir posed him with a life-endangering moment while he photographed the conflict-prone state, McCurry said. "In Kashmir, I felt there was always tension. The time I felt my life was in danger was one time in a taxi from Srinagar to Kargil.
There was a convoy at 7 or 8 in the night on very precarious mountain road in Himalayas and we were told to switch off our lights, because there was shelling from the Pakistani side. It was a a very alarming experience," McCurry explained. He stepped into India first in 1978, from where he went to Peshawar to photograph the "Afghan Girl" in 1985. Since then, he's been in India 75 times, spending a total of five years spread over different periods. He holds a "deeper appreciation for the country than a casual traveler," McCurry said. McCurry's picture of the "Afghan Girl" in a red scarf, her green eyes staring intently at the camera, became one of the most famous pictures in the world. He had again located the girl nearly two decades later, but "that isn't possible at all times, as the interactions happen on a remote level with the subjects", he said. There is mystery, contradiction and diversity in a "vibrant and colorful" India, that McCurry displays. In his new book, McCurry captures India through an inverted Taj Mahal in the water, the colours of Rajasthan, the stark contrasts and inequalities India's cities come with and other striking elements of India.
waiting to be killed by a vulture was published), deciding whether to press the camera's trigger or save a life in a conflict zone, McCurry said: "There is no picture worth a human life." "There was a time in Afghanistan when a colleague and I shifted this wounded man to hospital and probably saved his life because he wouldn't have made it through the night. One must work with compassion and there is no picture worth a human life," he said. Inspiration for all his impactful photographs comes from his travelling and meeting people, he said, adding that it's "overwhelming to see the past I have captured through my shots." Rubin Museum in New York would be displaying McCurry's photographs on India from November 18. McCurry said his next project would be around people reading, where he photographs people reading all around the world in some of the most unusual circumstances. — By Bhavana Akella
"India has been very dear, through the conversations I've had with people on trains, or being a part of the festivals and many regional characteristics each state holds. Although the whole world is getting globalised, India has a very strong and diverse character, which I don't see anywhere else," he said, overwhelmed by his love for this country. As a photojournalist, McCurry had worked in many conflict situations, like the Afghan Civil War, the Gulf War, Iraq-Iran War and others, capturing on film the "essential soul peeking out and experiences etched on a person's face" during conflicts. Asked if he was ever caught in a situation like Kevin Carter (a South African Pulitzerwinning photojournalist who killed himself after his photograph of a starving child

MONEYWISE Generally, debt that is forgiven or canceled by a lender is considered taxable income by the IRS and must be included as income on your tax return. Examples include a debt for which you are personally liable such as mortgage debt, credit card debt, and in some instances, student loan debt. When that debt is forgiven, negotiated down (when you pay less than you owe), or canceled you will receive Form 1099C, Cancellation of Debt, from your financial institution or credit union. Form 1099-C shows the amount of canceled or forgiven debt that was reported to the IRS. If you and another person were jointly and severally liable for a canceled debt, each of you may get a Form 1099-C showing the entire amount of the canceled debt. Give the office a call if you have any questions regarding joint liability of canceled debt. Creditors who forgive $600 or more of debt are required to issue this form. If you receive a Form 1099-C and the information is incorrect, contact the lender to make corrections. If you receive a Form 1099-C, don't ignore it. You may not have to report that entire amount shown on Form 1099-C as income. The amount, if any, you must report depends on all the facts and circumstances. Generally, however, unless you meet one of the exceptions or exclusions discussed below, you must report any taxable canceled debt reported on Form 1099-C as ordinary income: ∗ Form 1040 or Form 1040NR, if the debt is a non business debt; ∗ Schedule C or Schedule C-EZ (Form 1040), if the debt is related to a nonfarm sole proprietorship; ∗ Schedule E(Form 1040), if debt is related to non-farm rental real property; ∗ Form 4835, if the debt is related to a farm rental activity for which you use Form 4835 to report farm rental income based on crops or livestock produced by a tenant; ∗ Schedule F (Form 1040), if the debt is farm debt and you are a farmer. Exceptions and Exclusions If you've had debt forgiven or canceled this year and receive a Form 1099-C, you might qualify for an exception or exclusion. If your canceled debt meets the requirements for an exception or exclusion, then you don't used: AFZAL MITHWANI CPA, EA, PFS (P) 770-817-7000 (Q) 770-817-7001 afzal@univisioncpa.com

need to report your canceled debt on your tax return. Under the federal tax code, there are five exceptions and four exclusions for tax year 2015. Here are the five most commonly Note: The Mortgage Debt Relief Act of 2007, which applied to debt forgiven in calendar years 2007 through 2014, allowed taxpayers to exclude income from the discharge of debt on their principal residence. Up to $2 million of forgiven debt was eligible for this exclusion ($1 million if married filing separately) and debt reduced through mortgage restructuring, as well as mortgage debt forgiven in connection with a foreclosure, also qualified for the relief. As of this writing, Congress has yet to reauthorize the Act for calendar year 2015. 1. Amounts specifically excluded from income by law such as gifts, bequests, devises or inheritances In most cases, you do not have income from canceled debt if the debt is canceled as a gift, bequest, devise, or inheritance. For example, if an acquaintance or family member loaned you money (and for whom you signed a promissory note) died and relieved you of the obligation to pay back the loan in his or her will, this exception would apply. 2. Cancellation of certain student loans Certain student loans provide that all or part of the debt incurred to attend a qualified educational institution will be canceled if the person who received the loan works for a certain period of time in certain professions for any of a broad class of employers. If your student loan is canceled as the result of this type of provision, the cancellation of this debt is not included in your gross income. 3. Canceled debt, that if it were paid by a cash basis taxpayer, would be deductible
If you use the cash method of accounting, then you do not realize income from the cancellation of debt if the payment of the debt would have been a deductible expense. For example, in 2014, you obtain accounting services for your farm using credit. In 2015, due to financial troubles you are not able to pay off your farm debts and your accountant forgives a portion of the amount you owe for her services. If you use the cash method of accounting you do not include the canceled debt as income on your tax return because payment of the debt would have been deductible as a business expense. 4. Debt canceled in Title 11 bankruptcy Debt canceled in a Title 11 bankruptcy case is not included in your income. 5. Debt canceled during insolvency Do not include a canceled debt as income if you were insolvent immediately before the cancellation. In the eyes of the IRS, you would be considered insolvent if the total of all of your liabilities was more than the FMV of all of your assets immediately before the cancellation. For purposes of determining insolvency, assets include the value of everything you own (including assets that serve as collateral for debt and exempt assets which are beyond the reach of your creditors under the law, such as your interest in a pension plan and the value of your retirement account). Here's an example. Let's say you owe $25,000 in credit card debt, which you are able to negotiate down to $5,000. You have no other debts and your assets are worth $15,000. Your canceled debt is $20,000. Your insolvency amount is $10,000. Because you are insolvent at the time of the cancellation, you are only required to report the $10,000 on your tax return. If you exclude canceled debt from income under one of the exclusions listed above, you must reduce certain tax attributes (certain credits, losses, basis of assets, etc.), within limits, by the amount excluded. If this is the case, then you must file Form 982, Reduction of Tax Attributes Due to Discharge of Indebtedness (and Section 1082 Basis Adjustment), to report the amount qualifying for exclusion and any corresponding reduction of those tax attributes.
