The Eixample (enlargement in Catalan) is a district of Barcelona which is located between the ancient Old Town and adjacent pueblso (Gracia, Sants, Sant Andreu, etc). In Exiample are some of the most emblematic buildings of Barcelona, such as the Sagrada Familia (Mallorca 401), Casa Batlló (Passeig de Gracia 43) or La Pedrera (Provenza 261). The luxurious avenue Passeig de Gracia is divided into two parts, Eixample Esquerra and Eixample Dret (left and right, in Catalan) and is in Eixample Esquerra, in an area bounded by Balmes, Villarroel, Mallorca and Floridablanca streets, that the Gayxample is found, where are most of the entertainment and shops geared to the gay crowd. Most of the bars, for example, are on the streets Consell de Cent, between the streets Aribau and Villarroel. On this street there are classic bars in Barcelona such as Dietrich (Consell de Cent 255) and Átame (Consell de Cent 257). For those who like the heights, on Wednesdays you can access the Skybar at Hotel Axel (Aribau 33). Shopping through the Gayxample For those who like shopping, Gayxample is full of shops, sex shops and other retail issues, such as Boyberry (Calabria 96), Boutique Bizarre (Casanova 80), Showdreams (Paris 199), Skorpius (Gran Vía de les Corts Catalanes 384), Nostromo (Diputació 208), Kitsch (Muntaner 17), D-Arness (Casanova 63), By(Muntaner 22), Cool (Consell de Cent 233), Get Out (Diputació 163), Interior Primera (Aribau 26), Los Ángeles (Consell de Cent 218), Next Level (Diputació 189), Ritual (Consell de Cent 255), SoHo Shop (Casanova 218).

Barcelona is famous for its high activity during the summer and most of this activity takes place on the beaches, with beach bars, beach sports, sun, sea and sand. In total, the city has 7 beaches within its city limits and many more in the suburbs and nearby towns. In Barcelona we can find a couple of beaches that are particularly attractive to the LGBT community. Playa de San Sebastiรกn The beach of San Sebastian is the first of the beaches of Barcelona if we start from the Port Vell (Old Harbour, in Catalan). It is one of the longest beaches and is fused with the famous beach of La Barceloneta, which annually welcomes thousands of tourists eager to tan. This beach is one of the most frequented by gays and lesbians, making it a very popular beach.
Playa de La Mar Bella La Playa de La Mar Bella is also one of the most popular beaches for all kinds of people, because it is the only beach in the city of Barcelona where you can practice nudism. This beach is a favorite for groups of friends and where he meets much of the gay community.

Located 35 km south of Barcelona, the picturesque town of Sitges originated in an ancient fishing village and was settled in the early twentieth century by a group of modernists who gave the actual air. Sitges is also one of the cities preferred by the LGBT community, not only in Spain but around the world. In this small town you can find many choices of entertainment, bars and nightclubs, and themed shops. El Carnaval de Sitges But perhaps the most representative of Sitges is the Carnival, which is far more spectacular than Barcelona and that is why many people from Barcelona come to Sitges to celebrate. This year the Carnival will be held from 3 to 9 March 2011, though every year there is a “gay carnival” held a week before the official Carnival. Here’s the programme of the most relevant events and festivities: · Thursday March 3rd: Arrival of the Carnival King to San Sebastian beach, at 07:15 pm. · Sunday March 6th: Parade of “Disbauxa” (debauchery), at Disbauxa street. · Tuesday March 8th: Parade of “L’Extermini” (extermination), at L’Extermini street. · Wednesday March 9th: Procesion and burial of Carnival King, at Les Barques beach. · Saturday February 26th: Carnival opening party, at Bourbon’s Bar. · Sunday February 27th: Spectacular Show, at Candil & “Reinas” at Bar Azul. · Tuesday March 1st: Mantillas party, at Comodín · Wednesday March 2nd: “Tourist” party, at La Locacola. · Wednesday March 9th: Widow Night, at La Locacola.
