JUSTIN JACKRABBIT Photographer

INDULGE: Your photography is pretty impressive. Please tell us how you first got into the arts, Photography in particular.

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: After a year of not working in film and fighting to find brave photographers during the covid shutdown, I needed a new creative outlet that could cater to myself and others in the entertainment industry.

INDULGE: Who or What inspired you to pursue such a competitive career?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: At first was self motivated to build a space to create and utilize the knowledge absorbed through the years. Through this journey many have helped inspire me too press forward.

INDULGE: Tell us a little bit about your recent journey in photography? What styles do you practice?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: Needless to say my current journey in photography has been illuminating. As for what styles one would say I try my hand at everything.

INDULGE: If you were forced to choose only one, which emotion, more than any other, drives you to stay in this tough industry? Is it joy, anger, desire, passion or pride and why?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: That would have to be the passion of creativity. Creating visual art that feeds the imagination of the viewer is absolutely my passion.

INDULGE: Which ingredient do you think makes you special and unique as an artist in an industry overflowing with new faces and ideas?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: Seeing an idea in different perspectives then choosing the perspective that is less explored. In doing this he keeps me from following the trend at the time.

INDULGE: What has been your biggest challenge as an artist/photographer? Have you been able to overcome that challenge? If so, how?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: Would have to say keeping balance between working both sides of the lens. Although work with less photographers as a model because they see me as competition as a photographer it still hasn’t stopped me. Yet this challenge continues to this day.

A common phrase as a creative is, “you must suffer for your art.” Do you agree with this statement? If so, how have you suffered for your art?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: I wouldn’t necessarily say suffer, it is more along the lines of overcoming obstacles. Although there are many times suffering the loss of sleep by my mind driven on a new idea.

INDULGE: Are you a member of any photography, art organizations, or groups? Yes or No and why?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: Currently no, I have found many of the groups that I used to belong to as talent for them are stiff, rigid and judgmental. Many of them have also regressed back to focusing primarily on the female persuasion.

INDULGE: How do you feel the internet has impacted your art?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: As talent I would have to constantly utilize the internet to find work. As a photographer at first utilized it a lot to critique the quality of my work. Currently find myself using it less each month.

INDULGE: Now, you have been an actor and model for a lot longer than a photographer. How has your experience in the film and modeling industries helped you become a better photographer?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: Working both sides of the lens definitely has its perks. As talent, I now completely understand exactly what it takes to get the perfect shot. As a photographer, I am able to work comfortably with any ranged talent and help improve their experience.

INDULGE: We hear you play the guitar and have been working with a local designer. Can you tell us a little about that project?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: Absolutely, I have been working alongside with retired rock musician/instructor John Longbow of Longbow guitars for over a year now. After his journey in the music industry he decided to custom build a wide range of guitars in order to leave a better imprint of himself upon the world. My role in this is rebranding his work with more of an artistic approach. The images created utilize his guitars in unique photography techniques instead of the standard commercial imagery.

INDULGE: What is the best advice you have received?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: No matter what happens keep going and ignore the situation’s competition uses to belittle your work.

INDULGE: How can fans-to-be follow your career? If someone is interested in working with you, how can they setup a shoot?

JUSTIN JACKRABBIT: Yes, absolutely! New fans can follow me an/or message me direct to book a shoot.
