Hello, Whilst 2017 has been unsettling in many ways for those of us supporting apprentices, the introduction of the employer levy, new standards and the fraught non-levy tendering process it’s clear that the apprenticeship brand has retained its appeal for employers, parents and apprentices alike and the opportunities for providers in 2018 will be much more settled and, frankly, very exciting for providers who differentiate themselves. Smart Apprentices have returned another strong performance in 2017, growing again by 65%, investing in 4 new innovative technologies whilst transforming our e-portfolio Smart Assessor to support employer standards, bespoke courses and gateway assessments. Now is a great time to evaluate how technology can help you achieve your apprenticeships growth aspirations. FAS: Develop relationships with levy employers The employer levy presents a fantastic opportunity for entrepreneurial apprenticeship training providers to work more strategically with levy paying employers and help them plan their workforce development. FAS has been designed by Nick Linford, editor of FE Week, with Smart Apprentices to bring you a professional levy calculator, which will open doors for you with levy employers to meet with them to profile their levy contributions and plan how they can utilise their investment with you. Take the initiative and develop a long term mutually beneficial partnership using FAS.

Our experience of working in partnership with End Point Assessment Organisations has given Smart Apprentices a unique insight into how providers can develop bespoke employer courses.

In the exciting new world of apprenticeships, the most successful providers will be those who can create strong relationships with employers. In Smart Assessor, employers have their own dashboard, as well as their own app to keep them engaged with their apprentices’ learning journey.

We’ve used this knowledge to create a purposely designed innovative course builder within our e-portfolio Smart Assessor. This means you can create bespoke employer courses easily from the standards and assessment plans we’ve imported into Smart Assessor.

From electronically signing review forms, to checking their progress, Smart Assessor makes it easy for your employers to get involved.

Seamless data integration with your MIS

Within the suite of Smart Apprentices technologies we have Smart EPA, the first purposely designed technology used by leading End Point Assessment organisations.

We link customer’s MIS to Smart Assessor, which means that your apprentices are automatically created in Smart Assessor, including their profile details, ULN, course code, start date, planned end date, functional skills exemption, additional learning support and creates their employer.

This partnership with EPAOs has given us a unique insight into their requirements, from gateway assessments and progression through to end point assessment. We have applied this knowledge to create a rigorous gateway assessment giving you the peace of mind that you can evidence apprentices’ EPA readiness.

When your assessor logs into Smart Assessor their learner data is sychronised from your MIS. Smart Assessor has data transfers from any MIS, including: Pics Pro Solutions Unit-e Unit 4 EBS Maytas REMS Sunesis Rest assured, with single data entry into your MIS, Smart Assessor will always be accurate, eliminating the risk and cost of double data entry.

Smart EPA: Exclusively designed Smart End Point Assessment is the first technology exclusively designed for registered EPA organisations to manage their end point assessments with rigour and efficiency, creating a modern experience both for their apprentice and end point assessor. Smart End Point Assessment manages every aspect of end point assessments, from importing summative portfolios, to recording evidence of the end point assessment, managing centre resources, validating competencies of your end point assessors through to standardisation and compliance for external moderation.

Leading End-Point Assessment organisation, NCFE, is pleased to be working with technology innovator, Smart Apprentices, to create an outstanding end-point assessment experience for their training providers, employers and apprentices. Apprenticeships are going through their most significant transformation for a generation. Gone is the traditional ‘on the job’ accreditation and in its place is a new rigorous end-of-apprenticeship independent assessment. NCFE is one of the few recognised assessment organisations approved by the Education & Skills Funding Agency to deliver end-point assessment and offers support in a variety of sectors and subject areas. Smart Apprentices (part of Smart Assessor) have created Smart EPA, a bespoke platform exclusively designed for the new style of end-point assessments for apprenticeships. Keen to offer their customers the best experience in the new world of end-point assessment, NCFE scoured the market to find the best technological solution to help deliver their excellent service and Smart EPA from Smart Apprentices provided the answer. Together the two organisations are providing a marketleading service to achieve maximum outcomes for their customers and learners. CEO Fiona Hudson-Kelly recalls the inspiration for Smart EPA: “I am a believer in life-long learning and like to lead by example. At the age of 50 I embarked on my Masters degree in Business Administration and was fascinated to research the characteristics of rapid growth companies.
