Silppadhikaram Sunday Nov 7, 2004, Stamford
A STORY OF WOMEN OF SUBSTANCE A fascinating Indian classical dance-drama depicting the loyalty and courage of two women contrasted with the character of the man they both love. Music by Bombay Jayshri Choreographed & Directed by G. Narendra Performed by Avigna Dance Ensemble Produced by Cleveland Cultural Alliance
Silpp-adhikaram is the story of the authority that flows from justice, righteousness, loyalty and courage. It is the story of Kannagi, an extraordinary woman who exemplified these traits. It is to an almost equal measure, that of Madhavi, whose character was far, above that generally associated with her inherited station in life, that of a courtesan. And, it is about Kovalan, who flitted between these two women with all the loyalty of a butterfly.
