PhD (Disability Studies); M.Ed (Special Education), BA (Psych), Grad Dip Applied Science (Professional Psychology), BTheol, BA, Dip Ed. MAPS, AHPRA Dr Janine Bounds had experience as a secondary school teacher and a school chaplain before becoming a developmental and educational psychologist. Janine worked as a school psychologist in a large rural region in south-west Victoria for the Department of Education and Training. During this time she also obtained a Master of Education (Special Education) and focused her research on Specific Learning Disabilities. While within the Department of Education and Training, she facilitated a multi-disciplinary group of practitioners working in autism diagnosis. This group sought to learn more about autism, to share case studies and to help each other understand the various presentations of autism. Janine has now completed her PhD (Disability Studies) in which she implemented a model where teachers and parents worked together to support students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder in the classroom, playground and at home. She now undertakes private work specializing in assessment and intervention support for individuals of all ages with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Additionally, she supports teachers and parents who are supporting people with a range of disabilities and also provides training for teachers and other professionals.
