Renovations Rejuvenate The DeSoto Club
T
ake a look at the natural design elements in Hot Springs Village’s DeSoto Club and it’s easy to believe that Architect E. Faye Jones knew a thing or two about Arkansas. The stained wood ceilings, natural stone fireplace and floor to ceiling windows portray the Arkansas native’s appreciation for the state’s beauty. Built in 1972 and located on DeSoto Golf Course, The DeSoto Club just completed a $2 million dollar renovation and modernization, while maintaining the original essence of Jones’ design. It reopened to the public in July 2016. Jones, who studied with famed American Architect Frank Lloyd Wright, designed more than 200 structures in his lifetime. In addition to The DeSoto Club, he also designed the Hot Springs Village West Gate Fountain structure. Several of Jones’ designs are included on the National Register of Historic Places including Thorncrown Chapel, which is located in northwest Arkansas. The DeSoto Club is now home to Chef Johnna’s, a full service restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
