DESIGN WALK, MORE THAN AN EXHIBITION Design Walk, besides being an annual exhibition, it is also a joint platform of free expression and experimentation for the design studios of Psyrri. Furthermore, it is the starting point for the creation of a communication network between designers and people from the creative industries in Greece, people who are looking to discover everything that is new in design and to see from a fresh point of view how traditional values and rules of communication are implemented and applied in design today. Design Walk is not attempting to prove nor impose a specific idea. There are neither goals to be reached nor records to be broken. The design studios, who participate each year, follow their instinct for experimentation and their need for free expression, communication, play and interactivity. The third Design Walk presented exhibitions that dealt with the limits of design, the creative process, the relationship between contemporary design and other art forms and the role of the designer in today’s world. Each design studio presented a unique exhibition concept: from formalistic experimentations to analog or digital interactive applications, round-table talks, historical studies and life drawing workshops. What remains from this three-day event, the thirteen exhibitions and the three thousand visitors, is the confirmation that design, whether it is substantive or entertaining, is a fundamental component of communication. This catalogue presents a recording of what took place in the neighborhood of Psyrri during the third Design Walk which took place in February 2009.

Μια φορά κι έναν καιρό ήταν μια πόλη, 50 κτίρια, 20 ταράτσες, 67 παράθυρα, 2053 κάτοικοι, 15 πάρτι, 2 συναυλίες, 7 μπάντες, 1 γκοτζίλα, 300 αστυφύλακες, 4 τεράστια ηχεία, μια παρέα εξωγήινων, 7 βασίλισσες του χορού, δεκάδες χορευτές, εκατοντάδες δίσκοι, χιλιάδες νότες, αμέτρητα καλώδια... Όλα φαίνονταν και ακούγονταν όμορφα και ωραία, αλλά κανείς δεν έβλεπε αυτό που είχε αρχίσει να απλώνεται πάνω από την πόλη σαν απειλητική καταιγίδα. Ώσπου μια μέρα 2052 κάτοικοι ξύπνησαν, σηκώθηκαν από τα ζεστά κρεβάτια τους, κοίταξαν έξω από τα 67 παράθυρά τους και το είδαν... Μήπως ήταν πολύ αργά; Οι Sereal Designers ταξίδεψαν τη σκέψη τους στο μέλλον προειδοποιώντας μας για το παρόν και μας κάλεσαν να πάρουμε μέρος στον προβληματισμό και πιθανόν στα προγνωστικά.
SEREAL DESIGNERS
Once upon a time there was a city, 50 buildings, 20 terraces, 67 windows, 2053 residents, 15 parties, 2 concerts, 7 bands, 1 godzilla, 300 policemen, 4 huge speakers, a group of extraterrestrials, 7 dance queens, tenths of dancers, hundreds of records, thousands of notes, uncountable meters of cables... Everything looked and sounded nice and pretty, but nobody could see what had started to spread over the city like a threatening storm. Till one day the 2052 residents woke up, rose from their warm beds, looked out from their 67 windows and they saw it‌ Was it too late? “Sereal Designersâ€? travelled into the future, warning us for the present and invited us to take part in the speculation and probably the prognostics.

Η ανατροπή της τέχνης είναι συστατικό της συνταγής της ανατροπής του κόσμου. Οι Indyvisuals παρουσίασαν μια προσπάθεια από διαφορετικούς ανθρώπους να βρεθούνε μαζί κάνοντας πράξη την άποψη των σιτουασιονιστών ότι η τέχνη χρειάζεται εγχείριση.
