Civil Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
We believe public spaces should enhance the communities around them. Whether it’s improving the flow and rhythm of traffic patterns, adding strategic amenities, or establishing unifying features that provide a sense of character, good civil design should go beyond bare functionalism.
The ultimate goal of every project is to make it comfortable and attractive for tenants and economically feasible for owners. Mechanical engineers work hard to stay on the cutting edge, working every day to learn and develop the latest in methods and technology.
Electrical Engineering
Sprinkler Design
From municipal distribution systems for new land developments and lighting studies for commercial office spaces to detailed building designs, our team of electrical engineers and designers are well versed in the subtleties of efficient and cost-effective construction.
Design Works is well placed to be in the forefront of sprinkler engineering, being a specialist firm with highly experienced personnel and specialized equipment for the job.
Energy Modelling Energy modelling has the most significant impact on energy savings. This is why we ensure that our energy specialists are involved from day one, applying forward thinking principles and the latest simulation technologies to our designs long before we break ground.

Why Go Modular? With Design Works Engineering’s commitment to adapt with the evergrowing changes of technology, social patterns & climate changes – it is essential that the company also adapts with the evolving world of construction. Modular construction is the new wave of prof iciency that is having global reach. Offering a host of advantages over traditional site built components – including quicker results by way of more structurally set timelines, more affordable costs, less demand in labour, and benef itting the environment through waste reduced construction means & methods – it can be utilized within many types of buildings ranging f rom residential to commercial to disaster relief. Modular construction also improves the overall quality of construction components via higher quality control and assurance methods (for example: in-plant fabrication, assembly and testing). Due to the ongoing pandemic, government agencies are even more eager to achieve affordable housing units in higher numbers and in shorter delivery timelines. Modular construction is proven to have a signif icant positive impact towards this using its creative thinking method of not just working toward the goal of making things happen, but by analyzing and challenging the goal of making things happen. Design Works Engineering is devoted to standing by this f ramework.

The Values of Modular Construction vs Traditional Construction

Key Benefits of Modular Construction
1
Increased Availability - Construction companies are increasingly turning to modular construction for some part of their projects. Some 35 percent of construction companies are incorporating prefabrication into building design, according to
information from the management construction firm FMI, cited by reporter Adam Groff on the Construction Global website. FMI also noted 40 percent of firms are using prefabrication and expected to use it more in the future.
2
Cost Savings - Prefabrication can reduce the cost of a construction project by a significant amount. Since the

high levels of quality control. Since all construction is carefully planned and executed, there are no last-minute problems
or conflicts that mean costly delays or revisions of building plans. Building materials and projects are protected from the elements, eliminating potential damage from rain, ice, or sunlight.
4
Faster Completion - A modular project can be completed much faster and with greater efficiency than a project
5
Environmental Friendliness - Modular construction can be better for the environment since the process requires

project requires connecting only a few large-scale components.
less waste of material and less consumption of energy. Less fuel is needed for moving equipment and materials, which
means there is less pollution produced on the construction site. Modular processes support recycling of materials for other projects.
16
Challenges / Opportunities
1
Mass Production / Limited Variety - Design Works Engineering acknowledges this and aims to work alongside this difference in design, time and cost structure. Our proven design experience and advanced design techniques have shown
there are no design capabilities to provide cost effective and timely scheduled expertise to meet the client needs.
2
Higher Amount of Complex Decisions / Front Loaded Design - Design Works Engineering aims to get ahead of this timeline challenge in order to prevent any surprises from occurring. Our proven design experiences and advanced design
techniques have shown there are no design capabilities for Design Works to meet client needs in cost effective and timely design schedules.
3
Approval Process Can Be Complicated - Design Works Engineering looks at this ahead of time in order to keep organized and lessen chance of delays. Our proven design experiences and advanced design techniques have demonstrated there
are no design capabilities and approvals that will not meet client needs.
4
Risk is on Few Suppliers - Design Works Engineering prides ourselves on working with our clients fairly and communicating wholely throughout the project process. Our proven design experiences and advanced design techniques have shown
there are no design capabilities for Design Works to meet client needs in cost effective and timely design schedules.
5
Transportation Costs & Risk - Design Works Engineering is physically prepared for this risk and prepares our team to take this on. Our proven design experiences and on site manufacturer reviews have demonstrated there are no design and
installation reviews capabilities that will not meet client needs.

Modular Project Highlights
Design Works Engineering’s innovative team brings 25 years of experience to the new world that is modular construction. The team’s collaborative approach mirrors the collaborative & more efficient nature of modular construction – which challenges the construction norm by using a more creative, non-traditional formula of getting the job done. Design Works Engineering’s team promotes a similarly motivational morale that believes that building off each other’s ideas and efforts is the most efficient way to achieve success. Rather than focusing solely on numbers, the team thrives from assessing how these numbers are achieved through the productivity of the projects that create them. Affordable housing is also an end goal of the team – turned from a dream into a reality thanks to the new ways of modular construction.
