Along the more than 400 kilometres of coast, the landscape rises from the flat child friendly beaches in the south to the prize winning hilly Ice Age landscape at Røsnæs in the north.

Vesterlyng moorland at Havnsø is an interesting place with free range cattle, rare plants and wild herbs in the immediate vicinity of one of Denmark’s best beaches.
You may encounter the cattle up close on walks along the footpaths that also offer Bronze Age mounds, coppice forest and a migrating dune.

mark’s Bus Museum or the Tramway Museum Skjoldenæsholm.
You will find everything you love from the circus world at Cirkusland in Slagelse in its large park, and the amusement park Sommerland Sjælland offers more than 60 activities plus the largest outdoor water park on Zealand.

The ramparts, palisade, moat, bridge, gate, plank roads and three longhouses are being reconstructed as The Reconstructed Fortress at the Viking Fortress of Trelleborg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The nearly DKK 60 million project is a collaboration between the National Museum of Denmark and the municipality of Slagelse, with the support of several foundations, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

The beautiful old market town of Holbæk is located on the shores of the Isefjord.
Here it is possible to step direct from the yacht’s deck into the shopping street that provides a rich selection of exciting shops and cosy cafés.
KALUNDBORG – ON THE EDGE OF ZEALAND IN THE CENTRE OF DENMARK
Kalundborg has its fjord as next door neighbour. From the lively activities in the Harbour Park, the market town stretches up the slopes, revealing itself as a place brimming with soul and charm.
THE DISTANCE FROM ALLURING BEACHES AND HOLIDAY HOMES TO GENUINE CITY LIFE IS ACTUALLY NOT LONG.
The harbour area itself also offers a splendid choice of eating places and other culinary temptations. You can also enjoy the town, the fjord and Tuse Næs from the water on a cruise onboard the Hørby Boat, which is electrified, driven by solar cells on the roof.
Kalundborg also offers Denmark’s largest collection of medieval houses in the old part of town called Højbyen, where you can visit the Church of Our Lady with its five towers, which is the pretty landmark of Kalundborg.
SLAGELSE - SHOPPING TOWN
Shopping town number one in West Zealand offers a host of charming nooks and corners inviting to relax with a cup of coffee, lunch or brunch.
A varied selection of shops are awaiting you in the heart of
town, where you can also enjoy the sight of the guard hussars riding through town, or delve into the local history.
The small colourful Chaussee stones appear like small artistic oases in the charming cobbled street of Algade that is winding its way through the harbour town of Skælskør.
This market town has become a gathering point for a large number of ceramists and artists, who welcome visitors to their workshops. Another waterfront experience is a trip by the Skjelskør V where you will get a 1.5 hour fjord tour.
Water is the keyword when it comes to Korsør. Here you will find everything from the impressive Great Belt Bridge to small cosy fishermen’s cottages and the former ferry port, Halsskov Færgehavn, with a multitude of action and activities. Korsør Fortress that dates back to the Middle Ages still has cannons aiming at the Great Belt.
On the shores of Sorø Lake stands the Abbey Church, which is worth a visit, or you could take a stroll through the Academy Garden, an enjoyable sight with its change in character according to season.
Sorø presents a wide range of cultural gems that you will see while enjoying the shopping facilities in Storgade and Holberg Arkaden or during a cup of coffee or a lunch at one of the local eating places. Lille Claus is the boat cruising Lake Sorø Sø. It is here possible to jump off and on as you please if you want to take a closer look at the city’s attractions or the landscape in general.

You will find some of it impressive, some of it challenging, and some of it may be incomprehensible.It is your good luck, however, that staff and professional art experts are ready to show you round, to explain, to connect art with the present day and, above all, to discuss the works on view.
Art is much more that paintings on the wall and sculptures on the floor. You will see that when you visit places like the Art Hall Kongegaarden and Sorø Art Museum, where changing exhibitions will challenge and expand visitors’ minds.
Some works are well on in years, others are quite new and may look into a big future. The exhibtion venues have one thing in common: They endeavour to give you an experience that you had not expected.
The long stretches of coastline, beautiful sunsets and changing landscapes are clearly reflected in the works of the many local artisans. There are a variety of galleries and artists here, each with their unique expression.
CONTEMPORARY ART, MODERN ART AND TRADITIONAL ART – OUR DESTINATION OFFERS ALL ASPECTS OF ART.
The local artists are pleased to open the doors to their workshops to allow visitors to follow the process while a lump of clay, a piece of driftwood or an empty canvas becomes a new work. Whether you visit Merete Rohde Keramik, The Small Glasshouse (Det Lille Glashus) or The Old Dairy (MØLLER I Mejeriet) outside Slagelse, you will experience art close up.
If you want to experience the very special atmosphere, the year offers a lot of art events, e.g. the Ceramics Festival in Skælskør or Art in Churches.
During 2024, the first monumental footsteps on a new art route will see the light of day, huge works of art taking shape on a canvas of unique silos and other buildings, all based on local narratives, personalities and events. Follow the ongoing work on Destination Zealand’s channels.
