In 2009, the citizens of Fountain approved the Moving Fountain Forward ballot initiative, providing the necessary resources to improve the quality of transportation infrastructure throughout the City. Under the initiative, various projects were designed to address issues across our community, to include improvements to road safety, vehicle congestion and a reduction in noise pollution. Colorado governor calls special session to address property taxes

Colorado lawmakers are headed back to the state Capitol to deal with property taxes. “We need to act for short-term property tax relief now,” said Gov. Jared Polis at a press conference announcing a special session Thursday. “Any relief for the current tax year to homeowners has to be done now.” Polis said the session will focus on a quick fix for the 2023 tax year, while also impaneling a commission to look at longer-term changes. Lawmakers will convene on Friday, Nov. 17, and work for a minimum of three days — the shortest amount of time it takes to pass a bill into law in Colorado. What is a special session? • A Special Session may be called to respond to a severe Natural Disaster or an Emergency caused by the actions of a civilization. In fact, Special Sessions now replace the Emergencies in Rise and Fall, incorporating both their purpose and mechanics via the World Congress. There are two conditions for a Special Session to occur: What time does the pre-Thanksgiving special session start? • The pre-Thanksgiving special session will begin at 9 a.m. on Nov. 17, Polis announced during a morning news conference at the Governor’s Residence in Denver. The Friday convening is likely to continue through that weekend. In Tuesday’s election, about 59% of voters rejected Proposition HH, according to the latest results. SEE MORE Why is hh calling for a special session? • He noted that the party had already drafted several bills for their pre-election calls for a special session. “Real simply, we’ve been calling for (a special session) because we knew HH wasn’t the solution,” Lynch, a Wellington Republican, said.


The following bills has been introduced in the House during the first extraordinary session of the 74th General Assembly convening on November 17, 2023: HB23B-1001, creates the emergency rental assistance grant program in the division of housing and the department of local affairs to provide grants to residential tenants who have an annual household income of 80% or less than the area median income and are at risk of eviction or displacement. Currently going through House Committees. HB23B-1002, increases earned income tax credit for residents without a social security number from 25% to 75% for the 2023 income tax year. Currently going through House Committees. HB23B-1003, creates a task force to study and develop a permanent and sustainable property tax structure for the state of Colorado. Currently going through House Committees. HB23B-1004, proposes changes to property valuation for the 2023 property tax year in Colorado, and mandates the legislative oversight committee to study and report on a longterm solution for property taxation in the state. Currently going through House Committees. HB23B-1005, provides temporary income tax reductions for the 2023 income tax year, and establishes a temporary task-force to make recommendations concerning property taxation. Currently going through House Committees. HB23B-1006, creates the tax code legislative task-force to restructure the tax burden on citizens. This bill has been postponed indefinitely. HB23B-1007, increases the maximum amount of actual value of the owner-occupied residence of a qualifying senior, veteran with a disability, or surviving spouse of a veteran Session Bills Updates with a disability that is exemptSpecial from property taxation from $200,000 to $325,000. This bill has been postponed indefinitely. HB23B-1008, allocates $87,910 to the Department of the Treasury to help manage property tax deferrals in 2023. Currently going through House Committees.
