THE DETROIT JEWISHNEWS

Hey all you scientists, try this water experiment.

Floating lets you stay at the water’s surface when you’re swimming. Take a look at what else fl oats!

Walk around your house and collect items you’d like to test – plastic toys, paper clips, fruit, rocks, a spoon, etc.

1. Make a list of your objects and write down for each one whether you think it’ll sink or fl oat. 2. Fill a plastic bin or other large container with water. 3. Place one object at a time into the bin. 4. Record your results! For each item: Did it sink or fl oat? Did you notice anything that was the same about the objects that fl oated? Or the ones that sank?
