Your leadership journey begins
here.
Dear Leadership Detroit Class XLI: Since the late 1970s, the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Leadership Detroit program has set the standard for excellence in leadership through a steadfast commitment to challenge long-held assumptions, embrace multiple perspectives, and connect leaders with their passions. Emphasizing selfawareness and the key issues that affect our region, we set out to strengthen relationships among diverse leaders to bring about positive change in the community. As you embark upon this journey, I urge you to “lean in” and take full advantage of the experience. Challenge yourself to remain open to the plethora of ideas and perspectives offered by your classmates and presenters. Take the personal time to reflect on the experiences that have shaped your leadership as we move through the year. Be intentional about investing in your own leadership potential and be ready to stretch yourself to take on new opportunities and challenges. Our region is experiencing rapid change, and while the quality of life is improving in many communities, still others live without the promise of a better tomorrow. As we work through the year and move toward graduation, our collective goal is that each of you will find your passion for leadership, be inspired to better serve your community, and connect with your classmates and the issues which will help to shape this experience. As a graduate of Leadership Detroit, you will be offered a unique opportunity to be part of moving the region forward and improving the quality of life for all its residents.
Yours in leadership,
Dan Piepszowski Senior Director, Community Leadership Development Detroit Regional Chamber

Leadership Detroit is more than just a program that grows leaders. It is an experience that forges
the bonds beyond the board room. It drives people to push past their comfort zones and build relationships that will change them forever. Rana Abbas Taylor Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS) Class XL
This program was a unique experience that pushed the boundaries beyond those of standard leadership programs.
