SELFRIDGES LONDON RENZO PIANO BUILDING WORKSHOP - GENSLER Oxford Street, London, UK Senior Partner: Giorgio Bianchi. 143 783 m² / 1 547 667 SF 650 000 000 € / 888 000 000$
The mission is to devise a contemporary rehabilitation of a building built in the early XXth century. The key idea of the project lies in the fact that it is an “urban gift” to the city of London: a public park on the roof of the edifice. The new building acts as a new component; linking the original structure to the classical construction by adding an extra level to the building, placed on top of the latter. This combination will establish a strong connection between the new and the old. This tension is emphasized by the “Street”, a space of prime circulation generously lit by an atrium. This “street” represents an ideal link between the Old Lady and the new building, thus becoming an essential element of the architecture.
The team consisted of four people, with whom I worked during 7 months. My main task was to develop the proposals and to produce models, plans, sections, and diagrams as well as 3D renderings.
View of the Park on the roof : The Cherries Vue du Parc sur le toit : Les Cherries.

The “street” is central to the system. Both its ends form entrance points to the ground floor. Its structure identifies it as the main space of vertical circulation. On the roof, reinforcing the same axis, the Cherries become landmarks of the London landscape, acting as a viewpoint and a place where different events can take place (small library, meditation room…).

SAN RAMON CITY CENTER RENZO PIANO BUILDING WORKSHOP - BCV San Ramon, California, USA Partner: Antonio Belvedere. Vision 657 900 m² / 7 081 700 SF City Center 51 420 m² / 553 560 SF 185 000 00 € / 250 000 000$ San Ramon is a typical example of the American suburb. The idea behind the project is to answer the need for a new central space for the city. The study is made of two parts: - A vision: a masterplan to transform the existing tertiary area into a dense commercial and residencial place. - A schematic design of the the city center.
During 11 months, in a team of 4, I worked intensely on the project. I worked on the production of diverse study models, revit model construction and development as well as the visual conception of site plans and renderings.

“Urban Nature” is an urban model of medium density that seeks to preser ve space and nature, an essential characteristic of the suburb. The masterplan therefore alternates axes of urban activities and axes of countr y stroll ing. The city center building follows this logic, envisioned as a closed object surrounded by a large piazza, featuring a rooftop above the retail floors that becomes a series of green terraces. in addition to serving commercial purposes, the piazza and the terraces are also designed to house a public space dedicated to life, meetings and urban happenings. The exercise therefore concentrates its efforts on each of the ingredients that comprise the fabric of a city.

In response to this competition, RPBW focused on 4 key points: - Create a space that is both humanist and plural reflecting and stimulating the research and meeting of knowledge. - Create a space that is pervious to its surrounding environment and a catalyst of its future environment. - Conceive a building revealing the identity of the school and contribute to its radiance on a local, national and international scale. - Build a space favorable to reflection, exchange, and sharing of ideas; a school where delight and conviviality imbue well being with the joy of learning.
I helped finalise the presentation for the competition. My task was to focuse on the graphic representation of the site plans. FERTILE INTERFACE GRADUATION Tutors : Didier Rebois / Thibault Barbier / Stéphane Bonzani / Chris Younes
The northern Parisian suburbs attracted my attention for their complexity. The challenge was to make something integrate into this ever mutating environment as well as to anchor this proposal, enabling it to create new horizons on this promising territory. 1. 2. 3. 4.
Rail Network restructuring at the entrance of Paris. Reconnecting the East/West in order to offer an alternative to the dominant concentric layout Paris offers. Opening horizon points to put urban components in perspective. Relationship of city/nature.
Relation ville /nature.
