Project Iloa Tupaan (Orphanages) •Project Iloa Tupaan is widely popular concept which is developing rapidly in Finland. It is a broader and better idea which provides orphanage kids a better cultural and artistic understanding with fun. •A great execution of project would be where students can make more friends, discover new passions and learn to do what they like . AIESEC Project Iloa Tupaan is designed on this vision.
Project Description •This is a very special project where the EPs will be working and spending good quality time with children from an orphanage in (Specific City). •EPs would be implementing activities to engage the children and always put that amazing smile on their faces. •EPs would plan and execute social activities to engage the children and make their lives more Fun and pleasant. •EPs would work in teams both when planning and when executing these events and games. •Teams would develop fun-filled activities and games such as Story-telling, Video games, Drama , Music, Arts and Crafts .
•Other activities include movie nights, visit to the Zoo and many more. •The activities should aim for building a connection and harmony. •EPs should be able to make the children have good experiences, feel loved and undivided care during 6 weeks. •EPs would be advised to use imagination in ways to make this experience unforgettable to the children, taking into account that some children have physical and emotional disabilities due to certain past experiences.
•EPs would have to participate in all programs and activities organized by the Institution and the hosting LC, these provides an opportunity to further bond with inmates (the elderly), other staff of the Orphanage, Interns on other projects and the LC members. •As part of our EPs learning process they will attend at least 2 LC meetings, take part in LC Campaigns such as recruitment and OGX Campaigns, which are compulsory. •The purpose is to train, get and share knowledge and interact with people from different cultures. •Regarding their learning experience, we are planning to use a participative and non-formal learning approach, the volunteers will participate in training, workshops and a transition period in the beginning of the projects, while at the same time they will learn by doing.
•Through the entire project we aim to actively involve the EPs in all the aspects as well as in the decision making process of the projects and future planning of the projects. •In order to facilitate the whole process, we will organize meetings for the EPs to access their performance and create their learning plan and to do list for the next week. •Weekly priorities and objectives will be set every Sunday evening, in order to make sure that volunteers are focusing on the important things for their development and learning process. •At the end of the project, the EPs will have the opportunity to evaluate project, give feedback and evaluate their initial goals and will capture the learning from their experience.
•They will also have the opportunity to share their learnings with the members of the LC, making sure that the learning will be taken forward and implemented in the new project. •For the realization of the project, there are sets of activities and task that the EPs will take part in or will have to perform, however these are to be discussed with the volunteers after their arrival in Finland, these activities are :
Preparation and Transition •EPs will set personal and collective objectives for the entire duration of the project. •Define EPs roles clearly in the team. •Establish team principles . •Be integrated in the country through a series of cultural activities . •Team building activities and Fun times.
Project Implementation •Stimulate awareness and reflection on the importance of cultural diversity in a social organization, through meetings and presentations. This would be done in LC Meetings, recruitment and OGX Campaigns. •Design and implement online campaigns to promote the Internships in Finland. •Support LC members in organizing and promoting events related to the project and events ; Cultural activities and events.
•Take part in native language classes and language classes in their mother tongue for the other volunteers and the members. This we do to promote the habit of striving to know at least the basics of each other’s language. •Take part in cultural preparation trainings, and organize activities where the volunteer has the opportunity to demonstrate cultural aspects of his or her home country.
Closing of the project •At the end of the project, the LC involves the EPs in a reflection period that will allow them to understand the leanings developed and also the impact achieved in the community. •AIESEC is a very youthful, flat and open organization; all EPs will be given the space to come up with their own Ideas and strategies to develop the project. Teamwork and feedback should be highly encouraged, so that the project can achieve its best capacity.
Internship Description and Details Accommodation •Our EPs are picked up from the airport and are taken through all the registration processes by a member of the iGCDP team. •There are two types of accommodation LCs provide to EPs; which are the host family system and student flat accommodation (We are yet to work on this). •We have partnerships with specially selected families who accommodate our volunteers for the full duration of the project. However this type of accommodation is limited and we are working on increasing the number of host families we have contracts with. •We aim to develop partnerships with local student housing agencies. •Our EPs are taken through an incoming preparation seminar, which we organize to enable their easy integration into the Finnish culture.
Transportation •LCs assists the EPs by subsidizing the cost of travel cards. LCs subsidize between 20%-40% of such cost depending on their financial capacities. These cards are for the region/city of the city and the place of work.
Working and Vacation Policy •EPs would have to assure maximum of 25h of work per week during 6-7 weeks, during weekends, time before and after internship we encourage EPs to travel, explore and understand why Finland is the most beautiful country on the planet earth.
Extra instructions •The medium cost of a meal in Finland is of 5€. EP Fees - maximum 250-450€ (to be confirmed by LC) Payment to be done on arrival at the airport
