The Advantages of Treated Pine Decking For ages now, treated pine has been the most asked for material for decking or a timber patio. In fact, it happens to be one of the most common timbers used in deck building and this is because it has several advantages over other raw materials used. Although, there are several other options available like hardwood decking, spotted gum, blackbutt, kwila, but there are several reasons behind its popularity. What is treated pine? Pine is actually softwood that is treated to get its name "treated pine". Because of the treatment given to this wood, it turns into green color as the treatment basically involves pressure treatment. After pressure treatment, it is saturated and then, dried completely and these steps are taken to make the resistant from rotting, fungi and termites.

There are three different processes to create treated pine. Let us review them below. 1. The first process involves copper chrome arsenic and is considered a very robust method of treating any kind of wood. However, there are some safety and health concerns related to the use of arsenic and therefore, it is not used as much as it should be.

2. In the second process, the experts use alkaline copper and quaternary that has grown in popularity all across the globe because of the defaming of the first process. The second reason behind its popularity is that it is equally effective as the first process mentioned above. 3. The third process involves Light Organic Solvent Preservatives or LOSP. This treatment requires less pressure during the process and it does not put any kind of impact

upon the effectiveness of the wood. In this process, the ends of the wood have to be sealed with a sealant. As mentioned above pine is basically categorized as softwood and therefore the main goal of these processes is to make its life bigger and make it resistant to decaying, rotting, and pests. Advantages of using treated pine  It happens to be the cheapest timber available for several projects.  It is also one of the most durable raw materials to be used in these projects.  When these decks are built using treated pine, H3 classified timer is used in boards and H4 version for posts and pillars.  It is also one of the most environment-friendly raw materials used in such projects. The reason is that most of the wood in Australia is sourced from tree plantations in Australia and New Zealand rather than the virgin forests situated in other countries.  Apart from this, pine grows quicker than other woods and by the time, the time has come to replace the deck, new and fresh trees have already become adults.
