The Spice Trade

Comfort food. It’s the time of year, here in the United States, where my mind, soul and tastebuds crave the foods that not only taste good, but make me feel nostalgic. Traditional family recipes show up on dinner tables that spark fond memories and stimulating conversations. So It seemed appropriate to focus this issue on culinary arts.

As you read the interviews and explore the art in this issue, I’m sure you’ll be reminded of your favorite recipes and dishes, and you’ll be inspired to try new ones. Maria Asselin is recipe developer that will have you pulling out your rolling pins so as not to neglect the dessert portion of your full course meal. Andrew Kung will perk up your senses and convince you that you can taste and smell the dishes he captures. And Alberto Zamaniego Figueroa will remind you that the culinary world is full of stories, not just food.

I’m looking forward to nesting and nibbling as this year comes closer to an end. Email me your favorite family recipes (devika@ artdictionmagazine.com), and I’ll let you know how they turn out! Remember, food is love, so love hard, and love well.
