Senior Director, Southeast Conservation Harpeth River, TN | Hector Parayuelos
The Southeast, and Tennessee in particular, has a wealth of amazing rivers with some of the richest freshwater biodiversity in the world. American Rivers began working in the region more than a decade ago to reform the operations of major hydropower dams. An early success was on the Little Tennessee River where we helped forge an agreement that conserved 10,000 acres of land adjacent to Great Smoky Mountains National Park and resulted in restored flowing water, protected rare species, and improved boating recreation.
