Concept

Statement

The Noble Fir located in the Belltown neighborhood of Seattle, Washington will blend classic 1910 elements with an industrial design. A strong emphasis will be placed on the town’s history while staying true to the area’s young and trendy atmosphere. Vintage styled furniture including tufted sofas and chairs, and heavy leather pieces will represent the “old” while modern finishes like black window trim and uniquely shaped black and white tiles will add a contemporary feel. Earthy elements will

bring the outdoors in and will emphasize the hotel’s name The Noble Fir, a tree native to the Seattle area. Murals of events, important figures, and iconic symbols of Belltown will line the walls of the hotel, providing visitors with historical insight of the town. Other inspirations will be drawn from Belltown such as Elliot Bay, ferries, Pike Place Market, Olympic Sculpture Park, the Film Row of 1910, and the Jewel Box Theater.

Kitchen Bell & Vine Restaurant

The restaurant/bar that lies within The Noble Fir will be named Bell & Vine inspired by the original street names given by Belltown’s founder, William Nathaniel Bell. This area will be open to the lobby, giving guests a casual place to dine or drink. It will be open to the public with a large courtyard bar to attract a wider audience. Sizable folding glass doors will provide a seamless transition outdoors bringing the natural environment indoors. The menu will consist of a wide range of tapas for causal snackers along with more filling coastal inspired cuisine. Bell & Vine will carry the vintage yet industrial theme with tufted leather seating, steel accents along the bar, and black and white tile. Various seating options from booths to community dining tables, and smaller more intimate seating arrangements will allow individuals to choose the space that fits their comfort needs.

Concept

Belltown’s music and art scene calls for a space to bring creative individuals together in a fun and inviting space. For this reason, The Noble Fir will house The Foggy Bean, a coffee shop with a twist. This will double as a vintage T-Shirt shop where coffee and creativity come to life! The design will produce a warm, inviting

atmosphere through the layering of textures, dark tones like black steel and restored wood with quirky accents like mix-matched seating and unusual tile designs. The theme of the old and the new will be carried throughout this space.

Bridal Veil

Retreat

LOCATION: TELLURIDE, CO SENIOR YEAR: FALL SEMESTER PROJECT TYPE: INDIVIDUAL LENGTH OF PROJECT: 12 WEEKS SQUARE FOOTAGE: 5,000

P roject Description:

Design a multipurpose facility for individuals suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. Include a day spa, an exercise room with a pool, and a two bedroom attached apartment for the facility’s doctor and physical therapist. Follow all guidelines set by the Bienenstock Furniture and Interior Design Competition. P roject Responsibilities:

Research, Programming, Space Planning, Revit Drawings, Color Renderings, Finish Boards

54

Concept

The Bridal Veil Retreat located in the charming mountain town, Telluride, Colorado will promote healing and relaxation in the tranquil spa and treatment clinic for individuals suffering from Multiple Sclerosis. The natural environment of the Rocky Mountains will dominate the design with earthy elements throughout. Seamless transitions between the indoors and outdoors will make individuals feel as though they are in the middle of a forest. This will be accomplished through the inclusion of skylights in the lobby and exercise room, natural textures like moss, aspen bark and wood, water features, wall and

ceiling designs that mimic the trees that grow locally, among other design elements inspired by nature. In order to promote healing, both mental and physical comfort will be a priority. Secluded areas for relaxation and meditation, along with exercise areas to improve strength and flexibility, and private rooms for therapy and consultation will address these needs. Several areas will be designated to engage patients and their families together such as therapy and consultation rooms. Bridal View Retreat will strive to ensure patients feel more at peace and stronger than they did prior to arrival.

The mugs will be located on city street corners, parks, college campuses, and in malls. Through the use of multi-height ADA compliant counters, an open design to allow for proper lighting and air flow, adequate workspace, and scenic locations that support comfort and mind, this kiosk will achieve at least a silver in the WELL building standards.
