Our Homes Torre House encompasses three areas of expertise; offering specialist residential dementia care, it caters for residents with nursing needs, as well as care for the elderly and frail who don’t currently require any nursing care. Kingsmount provides dedicated and specialist residential dementia care while Mount Olivet accommodates residents with first class nursing care for those with higher or specialist nursing care needs; including those in need of quality end of life care. Reflected in our regulators care quality commission ‘excellent and good’ ratings, our resident care plans are carefully devised, regularly reviewed and most importantly, needs-led. Understanding that appropriate residential and nursing care also includes first class home cooked meals, an abundance of social engagements and high quality entertainment, our passion for our resident’s medical and social well-being is evident throughout the homes. At Devon Care we also understand that the process of selecting the right care home for a loved one is often overwhelming, so we have friendly, dedicated and fully trained staff to help you through this emotional process and ensure that the right level of care is achieved. 2


Mount Olivet Nursing Home

Commanding an elegant position overlooking Torbay from Torquay to Brixham, Mount Olivet Nursing Home has established a remarkable combination of attributes for its residents. Reflected in each individual residents care plan, encouraging independence, Mount Olivet provides as much enablement or support as is desired. 3

Offering bespoke residential accommodation for people who have high personal care or nursing needs, Mount Olivet is regulated to provide for those with a health or physical condition; Care for those seeking management or treatment of disease, disorder or injury; physical rehabilitation. Always quality nursing care for Enduring, Palliative, Post Op or Respite Care needs.


This stunning, Edwardian home houses 25 boutique style bedrooms, many with en-suite facilities; including 5 premium spacious rooms available for single or double occupancy offering beautiful sea or garden views; ensuring the environment in which our residents live, is enriching. Our philosophy is to provide a happy and comfortable home and to ensure that our residents’ lives are as fulfilled with us as they might be with their families. So, each room is tailored to reflect individual requirements with us welcoming personal belongings including furniture. Anything that will make Mount Olivet feel like a ‘home from home’ is encouraged, while there’s the additional security of knowing that our fully trained staff are available around the clock. Our immaculate accommodation includes cosy, electronically operated full profiling beds with Egyptian cotton bed linen in every room, television points in all

rooms, nurse call systems, most with en-suite facilities and access to assisted baths and showers, lifts to all floors, light and airy lounges and dining areas, as well as a hairdressing salon. The conservatory, with its glorious panoramic views over Torbay is a wonderful place to meet friends and family or enjoy some quiet time with a book. We also have WiFi for those wishing to go online for entertainment or contacting family and friends. Understanding that a good social life is as important as medical attention in a care home environment, at Mount Olivet, we encourage social interaction amongst our residents as well as friends and relatives visiting regularly and at any time. For those residents who do not receive regular visits and are unable to mix socially with other residents, we arrange for a professional “tea-time visitor” to drop in on regular afternoon visits.

“Caring For People with a Dementia� course within their first few months of joining us. Our care envelopes not only the medical, but also the physical and spiritual wellbeing of our residents. We provide accommodation, meals and 24-hour personal care for those who find it increasingly difficult to cope at home without assistance. Our care home has its own individual style and range of facilities designed to give you and your loved one security, independence and the very best in residential care. When you arrive we will create a personal care plan tailoring our care based on your individual needs. All of our residents including those with dementia, old age or physical disability are encouraged to get involved with or helped to continue a hobby, or even start a new one. Clubs include flower arranging, painting and gardening or just enjoy our visiting entertainers.

Standing as an impressive Victorian building, Kingsmount was an original part of the Oldway Estate. With 30 bedrooms many with en-suite facilities, all have been tastefully furnished in keeping with the grand surroundings and, despite the luxury of these rooms, the ambience is centred on the comfort and well-being of our residents, so we actively encourage them to stamp their own individual personality on the room with their own furniture or belongings from home, offering the additional security of familiarity. Torre House Nursing Home

Torre House’s extensive views over Torquay and Torbay provide an impressive backdrop to our comprehensively equipped private nursing and residential home. With distinctive individual care plans established for every resident, Torre House provides exceptionally supportive care for older people, as well as expert care for people with dementia. Qualified staff at the 7

home take an active interest in specialist areas of care, with training in areas such as dementia, nutrition and the promotion of continence. Set high on the hill in Chelston, Torre House’s extensive premises have been lovingly restored to create a real ‘home from home’ atmosphere for residents who are encouraged to bring their


own furniture or personal items such as photo frames or figurines, to inspire a real feeling of belonging. And, as part of the Devon Care organisation, we have an established expertise in care. We are passionate about residents maintaining their independence, their dignity and their well-being, and work closely with family and friends to ensure that residents are content with the level of care provided.

Residents can also enjoy the beautiful landscaped garden, light and airy lounge and dining areas as well as a hairdressing salon. Torre House also provides extra help with the additional services of chiropody, opticians and aromatherapy as do all our homes.

With 23 single rooms, 4 of which can be used as doubles if desired, residents at Torre House have nurse call systems in every room and bathroom, and round the clock nursing assistance if required. All but one of the bedrooms includes en-suite facilities, cosy bedrooms, Eg y p t i a n co tto n b e d l i n e n , electronically operated full profiling beds where needed and telephone and TV facilities.

Devon Care Providing fresh local food, entertainment and outings Food plays an integral role at our care homes, with our dedicated head cook establishing a tantalising menu of traditional, home cooked meals and involving our residents in all culinary decisions- even down to details like the thickness of gravy.

The importance of a warm, inviting environment is encapsulated in everything our head cook

produces, creating nourishing dishes on our premises from locally sourced seasonal produce. Integrated into our philosophy of care is regular occupational therapy. And, offering individual and group therapy, we include music and movement sessions for residents. At Devon Care, we are advocates of ‘variety being the spice of life’ and take a proactive approach


to offering residents an array of high quality activities on a daily basis. We engage outside entertainers and organise internal events such as quizzes and musical performers, as well as welcome local voluntary groups and school choirs for example. Additionally, at Devon Care homes, we also encourage and support both new and old hobbies to ensure residents’ lives remain enriched. Organising ‘outside’ trips, such as days out to the theatre or other popular destinations enables our residents to continue living life to the full with suitable transport including our own minibus, and escorts, our residents benefit fully from a change of scenery.

Short Stay Breaks At Devon Care, we understand that the decision to move to a residential care home is an enormous and emotional step for many families. That’s why we include a short stay option at all of our homes. Whether potential residents want to come and try out staying with us, or if they simply relish the idea of a change of scenery for a few days or weeks - we will welcome them with the same level of care, dignity and attention as we do our existing residents. With access to all our treatments and therapies, we’re happy to provide nursing and residential care on a short term basis.

Devon Care offer multi-denominational support to ensure that residents who wish to, and are able, may visit any local place of worship, or invite ministers to hold services for any resident or group of residents in a resident’s room.fggggggf
