It was fantastic to see so many black and gold windows all around our city to celebrate the Jazz weekend! The winning window went to House of Cane in the Fourways with Red Cross in Rooke St a very close second. Judges commendations went to Decor by Design, Mensland, Vinnies in East Devonport, Devon Florist, Elizabeth Matthews Gifts and Shimmer. You may notice some new faces around the CBD throughout August as competitors come from all over Tasmania (and some from the mainland) to compete in the 84th City of Devonport Eisteddfod. The Eisteddfod gives opportunities for performers of all ages, in music, dance speech and drama, to entertain and to receive feedback from highly experienced adjudicators. The competition will be held at the Devonport Entertainment and Convention Centre and will host thousands of participants over three weeks. Dates for the 2012 competition are: Dance - 9th to 12th August, 2012 Speech & Drama - 14th to 17th August, 2012 Choral & Vocal – 20th to 24th August, 2012 Instrumental & Piano - 27th to 29th August, 2012

Devonport Events Expressions of Interest Devonport City Council is offering the opportunity for organisations, service providers, community groups and private enterprise businesses to register an expression of interest for the delivery of one or all of the events currently run by Council. A number of events, including Australia Day Dance Fiesta, Devonport Food and Wine Festival, Devonport Jazz and New Years Eve are currently delivered by Council and are highly regarded and attended by locals and visitors. Council also supports a range of other community events either through in kind support and partnerships for example, Taste the Harvest and the Devonport Motor Show or through the Community Assistance Fund with either in kind support or a monetary contribution. A comprehensive review is currently being undertaken of the events Council delivers, and exploring possible alternative options in order to continue to deliver high quality and engaging events which
