...... Celebrating Mum’s t r o p n o v e D

Devonport City News - May 2012 May is the month we celebrate our adorable Mums, so please think about shopping locally and support Devonport retailers when purchasing a gift. It’s a great month to check out a show at the Devonport Entertainment & Convention Centre, visit www.decc.net.au to see what’s on. There are changes happening in and around the business district, in On the Move we list what’s happening with businesses in our area. Cardboard Collection Businesses are reminded to only leave waste cardboard out for collection Monday to Friday. Unfortunately Council is unable to collect waste cardboard from businesses over the weekend as Veolia’s recycling plant doesn’t operate on weekends. In recent weeks some businesses have been leaving out waste cardboard for collection on the weekends but this cardboard has been collected with the garbage and ended up in landfill. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

The 2nd Devonport Food and Wine Festival was an outstanding success with over 30 venues hosting in excess of 70 events. Spectacular Autumn weather welcomed patrons to outdoor events, with over eight thousand people attending ‘Taste the Harvest’. Restaurants opened their doors to guests with tasting nights, wok cooking, tapas and cooking classes. Community groups hosted numerous free events, and our three celebrity Chefs taught us secrets of the trade. So if you attended an event, hosted an event or worked at an event, the Devonport City Council would like to say ‘Thank you’ for supporting this wonderful City and the Devonport Food and Wine Festival.......
