HUGE THANKS TO THESE AMAZING SPONSORS OF DEVONPORT JAZZ 2017
WELCOME TO DEVONPORT JAZZ 2017 FLIRT WITH THE RHYTHMS OF DEVONPORT JAZZ IMMERSE YOURSELF IN THE UNEXPECTED WITH DEVONPORT JAZZ
“Change is always happening. That’s one of the wonderful things about jazz music.” Maynard Ferguson We are delighted to welcome you to Devonport Jazz 2017. After 15 successful years as Devonport Jazz Musical Director, last year Viktor Zappner O.A.M, decided to step down from his role to concentrate on organising jazz in NW Tasmania in the months outside of the festival. Viktor brought a very unique perspective to the festival with his passion, knowledge, focus and sense of humour. Still a great supporter of the festival, Viktor’s influence is reflected in our ongoing desire to balance the program between art and entertainment. We want to offer something special for those who have an affinity for jazz, as well as those audiences who are interested in the more social aspects of the program - the dancing, the wining and the dining. In programming Devonport Jazz 2017 we looked to Viktor’s existing framework and just like jazz, we improvised a little. In this festival you’ll find international sensations, familiar faces, standards for the 21st Century and timeless tunes. There is plenty for a music lover to choose from. We feature concerts for special audiences, a silent film and rhythmic grooves for your dancing shoes. The offerings are diverse and the opportunities to flirt with jazz and blues are many. If it’s a package you’re after, we have that too. Devonport Jazz is Tasmania’s premier winter jazz festival. We invite you to explore the region, share the music and immerse yourself in the unexpected. Devonport City Council Marketing & Events Team
