PUBLIC QUESTION TIME 4.1

RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS RAISED AT PRIOR COUNCIL MEETINGS There were no questions from the last Council meeting that required a written response.

4.2

Questions asked at this meeting ERIC MOBBS (REPRESENTING DEVONPORT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AND INDUSTRY) (D318019) The Devonport Chamber of Commerce and Industry has collected 1207 names on the accompanying petition in support of urgently installing PAYL car parking in the C-Max theatre car park. We acknowledge that at the Council meeting on 16th December 2013 Council passed a resolution to investigate the installation of PAYL in this car park. Previous history dating back to 20th February 2012 shows that we cannot rely on this motion coming to fruition. Previously $300,000 was allocated in the capital works budget but this mysteriously disappeared with no explanation. As far as we are aware the motion passed on 20th February 2012 has never been rescinded although the exact wording on the passed motion cannot be verified by the Chamber as the website does not permit the minutes of this meeting to be viewed. We urge the council to treat this matter as a matter of urgency. Mr Mobbs then presented the petition. DOUGLAS JANNEY - 23 WATKINSON STREET, DEVONPORT (D318007) When is Council going to improve the visibility at the William St/Middle Rd roundabout for traffic approaching from either the north or south? Response The Assistant General Manager Technical and Finance advised that there were currently no plans to undertake any works at this roundabout, however he would be happy to meet with Mr Janney to hear of his concerns in relation to the issue. TERRY JEFFREY - 16 LEARY AVENUE, DEVONPORT What is the rent revenue being gained from the upstairs restaurant at the Bluff? Response The Mayor advised that this is a commercial in confidence matter therefore he is unable to answer the question.
