Questions asked at this meeting MR TREVOR SMITH - 7 GLEN COURT, DEVONPORT (27122) How much did the Hill PDA report cost the ratepayers of Devonport? Response The question was taken on notice and a written response will be provided. MR TREVOR SMITH - 7 GLEN COURT, DEVONPORT (27122) According to the LIVING CITY Master Plan Fact Sheet which states “Council has invested $15 million towards securing key strategic properties across the CBD, consolidating strategic sites to ensure development proceeds in each of the precincts. Q
What is the correct amount that you have spent in purchasing these properties?
Response The question was taken on notice and a written response will be provided. MR DOUGLAS JANNEY - 23 WATKINSON STREET, DEVONPORT (17731) Voluntary Amalgamation program Agenda Item 9.1, section 4.1, p18 mentions the LGAT meeting on the Government’s Voluntary Amalgamation program. A recent Advocate article by Sean Ford gave rates for Devonport and Burnie as well as other lower rated municipalities. Rate levels is one reason why Voluntary Amalgamation does not appeal to the lower rate municipalities. The Devonport Council has also indicated that the voluntary route to amalgamation will not get there. Q
What have the 29 Councils and LGAT come up with to put to the Government minister as a way forward for Council amalgamations?
Response The Mayor advised that at this time Councils were still considering their positions in relation to this matter. A number of Councils are considering the issue of greater resource sharing opportunities at the same time. 4.0
