th

Golden Jubilee Birthday Felicitation to my Wife

t’s indeed an honor and privilege to pay this tribute to my wife, Manita Morounmubo Soremekun-Fadel at 50. I can confidently say now that, “You are the horizon to my sky; you are the smile to my face; you are the ink to my pen; you are the water to my ocean, and you are the icing on my cupcake.” You are the most beautiful woman in the world. You are beautiful inside and outside. You are my jewel of inestimable value; you are harmless in mind and excellent in character, you are a woman of grace and honor. I call you, blessed. Our beautiful children and I love you more now than when we began! Our 27 years of marriage is packed full of love, life, joy and laughter. I remembered when

we met in Kalamazoo, Michigan; I was like a reindeer in the middle of the road with lights shinning on its face, not knowing where next, you came and it’s been glorious since then. I found my calling, my passion, and direction after I met you. I am so grateful to the Almighty God for you, my gift of joy! Till today, I wonder why you left your Pediatrics practice in West Bloomfield, Michigan to follow your husband to Floyd, Texas, a city of 100 people counting the chickens and goats to run RCCG North America. You’re indeed a gem and pillar of strength for our children and me. Other women may have done well, but you, Manita excel them all.

To you I say; You’re the fairest star in my firmament: “If you were a flower; you would be the fairest of all flowers. If you were a bird; you would be the fairest of all birds. If you were a fish, you would be the fairest of all fishes; Being neither a flower, a bird or a fish but created in God’s image: You glow in His Glory and His Grace; You are God’s creative ingenuity, and the fairest star in my firmament.” On this day, June 20, 2017, I say, Happy Birthday, my friend, my lover, the agave nectar in my green tea and my wife. I love you, so, so, so very much!

Happy birthday;

INTERVIEW Tell us one great quality your Mom has that most other Moms out there do not have?

TOLANI FADEL

M

07

y mom has several great and unique qualities; I can’t narrow it down to just one! For starters though, she’s very energetic. Very few days go by in our house, without the sound of Gospel music or afrobeats (and someone really trying to sing the lyrics) coming from her office. Similarly, nothing can stop her from dancing when a good song comes on the radio—not even four people asking her to! Although it can be annoying at times, I really appreciate the joy this energy brings to our family.

Organization is another of my mom’s great qualities. If someone were to walk through our house, they would be surprised to find that every single item—from Ziploc container lids to spare remotes—has a designated space that has been carefully considered. It takes a special kind of patience to arrange things and keep them in their place regardless of stress, travel, and other external factors. Fortunately, my mom possesses that patience and is slowly but surely instilling the same in me.

If you would change anything about your Mom, what would it be?

I

f I were to change anything about my mom, it would be her willingness to let me borrow her bags and shoes. In twenty-two years of life I have never lost or severely damaged anything of hers. I think that warrants a ‘take what you want as long as you bring it back in its original condition’ pass!

S

What is your fondest family memory?

everal years ago we took a family vacation to London and Paris. The sights and sounds were amazing, but one of the most memorable moments came as we were getting ready for bed one evening. After being quiet for a strangely long period of time, Simi (age 8 years at the time) ran into my parents’ room saying, “Guys, I found drugs on the floor!!!” My dad came into the room with an

Pastor Manita @ 50

understandably worried look on his face only to find that the “drugs” were a single, unused cigarette under the pull-out bed. The five of us spent the rest of that night laughing, snacking and watching movies. Although it wasn’t the most ‘fun’ thing we’ve done together, it’s indicative of our relationship as a whole—and because of that relationship, all of our time together is pretty great.

What is the greatest and best wish for your Mom as she turns 50?

I

’d like to wish my mom all of the health and happiness that God can provide. After flawlessly playing the roles of mother, wife, doctor, teacher, and mentor for so many people and for so many years, I think it’s the least she deserves.

INTERVIEW

1

Tell us one great quality your Mom has that most other Moms out there do not have? One great quality my mom has is that she’s always friendly. She is very sociable and is an easy person to talk to. My Mom is always welcoming to others no matter who they are and what they’ve done.

If you would change anything about your Mom, what would it be?

Learn to slow down sometimes and not organize everything! Also, she could let me have some of her clothes and bags in her closet!

3

What is the greatest and best wish for your Mom as she turns 50? I pray she gets everything she desires, and fulfills all the things she plans to accomplish in life. I also wish her success in all her endeavors and I pray that God will continue to bless her.

What is the most unforgettable/ fondest memory about her? The fondest memory I have about her was when she was teaching me the basics of sewing. I remember being about 10 years old and she would show me how to use the different types of stitches on her sewing machine. Over the years, I have learned how to sew by hand, repair clothing items, sew a pillow, bag, and an Ankara blouse for myself. We would have Sewing lessons almost every summer.

4

What is your favorite word to describe your Mom? Driven is a word I would use to describe her. Whatever it is that she’s doing she always stays focused and is determined to do it to her best of her ability. If a task is challenging, she is not one to give up easily, but will stay on the task until it is completed. She is always driven to do her absolute best even if requires her to stay up all night to get it done. Pastor Manita @ 50

INTERVIEW

Simi Fadel Tell us one great quality your Mom has that most other Moms out there do not have?

What is the best part/side of her?

The best side of my mom is the loving and caring side. The side that will comfort you when you’re sad and help you whenever you’re stressed. This part of my mom is compassionate and considerate.

My mom has a great quality of knowing what to do and when to do it. You can always trust her to be the one in the family who is always organized. There is never an event that my mom hasn’t put on her calendar. Ranging from recitals to award ceremonies, I can always count on my mom to be there. If you could change one thing about

your Mom, what would it be?

The one thing I would change about my What is the greatest and best wish for mom is her ability to move things and forget where they are. I often find myself asking her, your Mom as she turns 50? The greatest and best wish I have for my mom “Where did my … go?”. I personally feel that as she turns 50 is that she will continue to live I would have been less stressed out especially in the morning, if things were written down a long, healthy, and happy life. or tracked.

What is your fondest family time together?

The fondest family time I have had with my family and my Mom, is when we went to Paris and London over spring break in March, 2014. I picked this vacation because we all had fun doing different things. Nobody was sad or disappointed. We all had a great time!

11

Pastor Manita @ 50

What are your Mom’s deepest values?

My mom’s deepest values are God, family, fun, and friends. My mom’s love of God is very strong. She is faithful and obedient to God. I often find myself looking to her to learn about patience and faith.
