Knowing Our Audience:- Staff

members who write and edit the articles for adults, youth, and children bear in mind the basic differences among our readers. Those who produce articles for children know that between the ages of 4 and 12, children make great changes in their intellectual ability and their emotional growth. As the editor, I understand that this is also happening as teenage readers mature, while I also keep in my mind that adult readers differ in age, stages of life, and marital status.

Contributing Your Articles:- Your

best opportunity to contribute to the magazine will be to write about your own spiritual insights or experiences. When you write about what you know and have experienced, your writing carries the weight of truth and authenticity.

CUMI- ATLANTA BRANCH

uly 2005 CUMI started in the family room at 751 Woodmont Drive Marietta Ga 30062. A lot of people we called, only a few answered among friends, neighbors and family members. Our dear Evangelist Ketiku was used mightly to plant the house fellowship in the face of strong opposition. When it was time for her to go back to the headquarters, with no apparent Pastor in place, God-raised a family friend of ours who called Pastor Walter Richmond to come and help us. With his own congregation, he taught us and lead us temporarily. He has been with us and still fills in whenever the need arises. The foundation of CUMI was based on a firm foundation of prayer. To the Glory of God and all honor belongs to Him, we have the following testimonies. Geographical Location We moved from the house to share a sanctuary at Lorene Drive (400 seat) to a front store on South Cobb Drive, from there to Hilton Hotel Marietta Conference Center, all within one year, and through supernatural providence of God to our current location at 1289 Roswell Rd in May 2009.

Healing Miracles such as speedy recovery from heart surgery. When a simple complaint about Malaria turned into a three week stay, and coma in the intensive care unit, Jehova Rapha spoke and gave specific instructions that confounded the doctors and specialist at the hospital. And complete turnaround took place.

Benevolence The Lord used this ministry to support widows and orphans who lost their heads of households prematurely. Housing assistance for the unemployed, and clothing for the unemployed. Assistance for the newly released from prison to transition back to society.

Employment One of the first documented miracles was one of our members had interviewed for a job in a different city, but he desired to be back in Atlanta with his family and to avoid the long commute. The saints prayed and he got employed for a better job in the city that he desired and did not know that a vacancy existed.

Other Activities PUSH Night was born in June 2009. This is a monthly program, where we pray and invite various other churches. Miracles, signs, and wonders follow those who believe. We pray until something happens. The Lord Jesus Christ promised not to leave us as orphans and left us with the gift of the Holy Spirit. To Him be the Glory and Honor. Because He lives we can face tomorrow.

Congratulates the G.O and Cumi Houston on the great and mighty things God is doing in our midst. We pray for continued grace and mercies. 3 | Liberty Magazine /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

INTERVIEW

The General Overseer

Liberty News: It is really a wonderful opportunity to meet with you and interview you. Our first question today is: who is Apostle Matthew Oluwajoba?

G.O: Thank you. We really thank the Lord for what He is doing. By the special grace of God, I am the General Overseer of this ministry. I first got the calling of God in 1988 but I did not put it into practice until 1990 when the Lord asked me to build a church. People feel like they are not accountable to anybody. You can see that accountability has got lost. The second thing I want to say is about Spiritual Authority: Because everybody wants to become the head, no one bows down to spiritual authority anymore. Holiness: People do not keep themselves holy anymore. Holiness has gone down completely. Righteousness: Righteousness lodged in Christianity before because when we talk about Christianity, we’re talking about righteousness. But the righteousness of God we cannot see it anymore. Then the fifth one which I can see is that the word of God is rare now. Everybody goes about prosperity and blessing but the word of salvation is dying. So those things are really, really rare in Christendom right now. In the beginning, it was not so. And finally, the unification of churches; that is for churches to be united. LN: The next question has to do with inspiration. You often minister on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and I know it takes a lot to do that, so the question is: Where does the inspiration come from? G.O: It is the spirit of God. When God gives you an assignment, He empowers you. When He makes a vision, He makes a provision for it. I have resulted that it is not my own flesh that is doing it. It is God Himself; it is the spirit of the living God. I remember there was a time in London that I worked for twenty-eight hours without sleep and when we finished and I was going back home, I was still agile, still strong. I did not feel weak; I did not feel sleepy at all. Then I said, this can only be God and the following evening, I was still in church for another program. So I believe it is the spirit of God because I cannot explain where the inspiration comes from than the spirit of God. LN: The next question has to do with the ministry itself in terms of structure. You are the G.O of CUMI and we are very blessed to have you hands on here. What will happen if you are gone for like two to three months? G.O: There is nothing like that. You know it took us up to seven years before we could build our church in England properly, which is now fifteen years. We have ten branches there; my ministers are holding on tight and doing very well. But here, it is just me. I have to be in this place. The Lord has not spoken to me that I should go away for that long and anytime I go its temporary. LN: Obviously you are not threatened by the gifts and talents that are in others and you really believe in encouraging others to use their gifts. My question is, where does this strength comes from because there are a lot of men of God that will feel intimidated to let others grow? G.O: Thank you very much. You know what I just want you to understand is that I have never been threatened by any talent or gift. Even in London, we have big ministers, of God who have more congregation than us. Our own congregation is about six hundred members in the headquarters but we have others that have five thousand or three thousand but I am not threatened by anybody’s gift because each person has his own calling. And one thing is that God gave me all the 5-fold of the ministry. I am an Apostle –a planter. As a prophet

5 | Liberty Magazine /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

– a mouth piece of God to nations. As an evangelist- I evangelize, I’m a world evangelist and crusader. As a pastor – I pastor churches and I’m a shepherd. As a Teacher- I’m a teacher of the word of God. So whatever God has given to each person that is what he is going to do. It is God that is doing the work and the spirit does it the way He wills so you will never be threatened by anybody’s gift/ talent and whatever God wants you to do He will never give it to anyone else unless you refuse to use your gift. LN: We have come to realize in Houston that divorce is very rampant. What is CUMI doing to curtail this? G.O: It is true about this but we stand by the word of God and we do not want to change the word. God said in Mal 2:14-16 that He hates divorce and Jesus Christ spoke extensively in Matt 19:4 “Have you not heard that He who created them made them in the beginning male and female, so a man shall leave his father and mother and join himself to his wife and become one flesh.” And Jesus has made us to understand that whoever divorces his wife except through sexual immorality commits adultery. So, He will not accept divorce. Anything that is unscriptural, we stand against it. But at the same time, I stand as a father that even if there is any marriage that has been broken, I want to make peace. If there can be reconciliation we are ready to do reconciliation. This is a family church. We love single parents but we don’t encourage singleness.

makes people to understand that in the word (that’s why the bible is on the ground), this earth you must have the word of God and on top of it (which is the reward) the reward is the crown of Glory, the crown of Righteousness that Jesus Christ gives to everyone. And for people to know that we are a royal priesthood. LN: Our church slogan says “Life and Liberty in Christ”. Where does that come from? G.O: It came from Deut 30:15, when God called me, He gave me the word in that verse, he gave me life and death. Life, if I obey his voice and death if I do not. So when the ministry now started, he now repeated it. That he gave us life and death. Life, if we receive Him, death, if we do not receive Him. Now Jesus has taken on death. So when we have Jesus Christ then we have liberty because the bible says the Lord is the spirit and where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty and if we obey the voice of God, then we have the liberty in Christ.

if you will not use your gift or you bury it, you will give account of it on the day of judgment and every person’s work will be tested by fire...

LN: We were known as Christ United Pentecostal Ministry Church for a long time. Where does Christ United Ministries International come from? Why was the name changed? G.O: The name changed based on people’s comments and approval from the spirit of the Lord. ‘Pentecostal’ makes people feel they are caged within that circle that it is only for Pentecostal people. But we want all races to come and all denominations to come and to come to Jesus Christ. So we changed it to ‘International’, with approval from the Holy Spirit. I prayed and I spoke to the Lord, so after I got the approval from the Lord, we changed it to Christ United Ministries International. LN: What is the origin of the crown and a bible in our logo? G.O: You will see that the bible was placed down and the crown was on top of it. What it means is that the bible means word of God. If you live according to the word of God, then there is a crown of righteousness for you in Heaven. So by obeying the law of God, the reward is the crown of righteousness which is in paradise so which

LN: People who have experienced the power of God through a man of God tend to worship that man of God and forget the God that is behind him. How do you handle that kind of situation?

G.O: Most of the time, I make my ministers to understand (especially if they are the ones officiating testimonies) to let people understand that it is God who is doing it. One of the reasons why we established the U.S church in 2001 was because when I pray for people over the phone and they get the blessing, they feel that it is man who is doing it. God is just using man. In the beginning of the ministry, I struggled with it especially when I started in Nigeria. I really struggled with it because I started with people in the local area. Many people who have never seen miracles before and when it happens, they just feel that “the man told me”, “the man did it”. And there were some who came from different churches that in those churches where they left, they worshipped those pastors. In our own church, it is not like that because we know no one can receive anything unless it has been granted to him from Heaven and it is the spirit of the Lord who is doing everything. No, it is God. The bible says, “Who can make straight what the Lord has made crooked? Is there anyone who can make straight what the Lord has made crooked?” No, and in Lamentations 3:27, the bible says, “Who speaks and it comes to pass when the Lord has not commanded?”– “I am the Lord that is my name, my glory I will not give to another” (Isaiah 42:8). So if you understand this and praise God, you will go up, but the more you praise yourself, the more you go down. That is our logo in this church that Jesus is Lord, not man.

INTERVIEW

Men’s Fellowship

Liberty News: Praise the Lord! We are having an interview with the Mens Fellowship of CUMI. We have Pastor Macaulay, Pastor Tony and Elder Bright Wokocha (President) here. Please tell us what is the Men’s Fellowship of CUMI?

ways. Evangelize for God. Support the ministry, give Godly advice when it is necessary, and walk straight before God.

Pastor Macaulay: Basically the Men’s Fellowship of CUMI is a department created to champion or to governize men for God’s work. In doing so, the men have to see themselves as being in the forefront of working for God. Men according to the Bible are “the head” and being the head comes with a lot of responsibility. Men’s fellowship wants to be seen as a group that other men who have diverse interest will want to come together and share their views but have a common interest to serve their God. Men So Men’s Fellowship of CUMI is an important organization that the Lord is using to make men focus on the things that are important to Him in serving Him. Thank you.

Pastor Macaulay: Evangelism is mandatory for every member of the church to carry out. It is the responsibility of every believer in God. It’s a way of working for God by wining souls for Christ. There are many souls that are crying for help. We need to lead them to God and if you can do that, that is evangelism. The men are printing flyers and setting particular days of the month to reach out to the people living in apartment complexes and stores, telling them about Christ. Evangelism can also take place in your workplace.

ElderBright Wokocha (The Mens President)

LN: So you have said alot of things about the Men’s Fellowship. In your opinion what part do you think men play in the church as a whole? P a s t o r Macaulay: In the church of God men play a lot of important roles. Men are the head of the home, the head of families, and they say charity begins at home. A man that manages a good home should be able to extend it to the church of God because the church of God to is a family. Men have that kind of attribute to put things right. To be with people who are ready to serve God with all their hearts. In the area of finances men should be able to support the church of God in many

9 | Liberty Magazine

LN: Question relating to evangelism, what is the men’s department doing to increase the membership of CUMI, and what tools do you have in place for that?

Elder Bright: I want to add a few words about the evangelism. You know a church without evanglsim will not grow. We have to go out and present Jesus as a savior to the people. Since I became a Christian, I have seen churches grow and churches fall apart. A church without families won’t grow. The families are very important and the men are very important to a church. That way our generation will stay in church. If we don’t go outside and evangelize, like the bible says “go outside and spread the word of God”, the church will only be the same amount of people for years and years. It is very important for us to get together and spread the word of God to the people outside.

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

LN: CUMI has been repeatedly put out there as an international church, to that effect; what is the department doing to reach out to other people in the community to bring them in so we can really have this as an international church? Elder Bright: We send out invitations to people of diverse backgrounds from Africa, South America, Asia and the Hispanic community. To the Hispanic community we send revival fliers through the mail. We send them in full Spanish and English translations. Thousands have been invited about 10,000 have been sent in recent times. The men’s fellowship can preach and can truly evangelize and buy more fliers. We plan in the future to invite more people from different nationalities and maybe even try and have a full Hispanic service without translations. LN: There are lots of men and women who are incarcerated, and we have heard and seen on TV that they are hungry for God. They want to identify with an organization like a church. Do you have it in your vision or is it in the works right now or do you even have something right now that is going to impact the lives of people that are incarcerated? Elder Bright: Absolutely, we have that going on and we are partnering with other ministries that are already doing it. These organizations can help us generate our own special ministry to the prisons. We also have some organizations that will be coming in to speak to us very soon about something similar to this; we are so excited and willing to be part of it. It’s going to also encorporate that we must also go for the approval because the prisons are federal and state premises that we must have prior approval before entering.

CUMI Branches from Brazil, Ghana, India, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and UK

Wish to congratulate our General Overseer, Apostle Mathew Oluwajoba on the great achievement of building solid spiritual health of the congregation in qualitative terms, using measurements such as prayer, heart for evangelism, and love for one another. Happy New Year, and God bless CUMI.

INSPIRATION

Release Your

Potential W

Your resources & Purpose

e all need to have some goal in life. Some people just go through life without any sense of meaning or purpose though. I’ve heard it before that “If we aim at nothing we’re sure to hit it every time”, but then I realized that I didn’t want to hit nothing but rather I want to achieve something in life. I wanted to make a difference. After all, what’s it all worth if we can’t at least make a small difference? You go around trying your hands at anything, and then if it goes well, you think you’ve hit the target, but the point is though, you don’t really have an aim or a purpose in life, so how do you really know if you’ve achieved what you set out to. We can face anything if we have Christ and a clear sense of meaning and purpose. With Him nothing can sway us from our goal- if we have a clear goal. If not, we’ll be blown around by every wind of chance. We’ll wander aimlessly through life shooting our arrows everywhere and not really achieving anything. But God’s spiritual principles are constant and unchanging, and when applied with confidence, positive Christian living becomes a reality for us just like the great men and women of Bible days learned these truths. You can also learn them from God’s Word, for He says “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11)” God’s spiritual principles are designed to help us to discover who we are, why we’re here, and what the purpose of our life is. Please note that it’s a beginning. Life is a journey of discovery, and we’re given a lifetime to journey. In fact, we probably continue the journey after death, but that’s anybody’s guess.

I’ll rather not wait to find out. I’ll try to make the most of this life. Will you join me? “Let us run the race that is set before us with endurance (Hebrews 12:1).” The choice is all yours and I’m afraid so’s the hard work. The journey is yours. Rope up with someone you trust (or a few people if you can) and steady yourself, you’re in for the ride of your life- but it’s all worth it if you persevere, and if you’re willing to keep going against all odds. Remember,

T

What don’t die can’t live. What don’t live can’t change. What don’t change can’t learn.

he road may be difficult, but its way better than the easy road. Are you willing to take the challenge? Are you ready to begin? Remember to “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deut. 31:6 Activate, stimulate, and release the wealth of your potential! Break free and leap over the limitations of past opinions, failures, and disappointments! Comprehend and appropriate the principle keys for unleashing the wealth of potential trapped inside you destined for the next generation! - Dr. Myles Munroe Finally Brethren, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all things acknowledge him, and he shall direct your way. (Proverbs 3:5, 6)” Thank You Lord.

F

FAMILY ALIVE

amily Alive is a program that focuses on helping to build a strong Christian family because a dysfunctional family has a strong impact in our churches and the society as a whole. Our goals and objective is to: • Help build strong Christian families at homes/ churches/society. • For families to know that no family is perfect but through Christ we can overcome anything. • Include other believers worldwide by networking. • Fellowship with one another at a family setting (such as homes, club houses, etc.) • By relating to one another, we can create an everlasting bond within the church family. The vision came about from my former church where few married couples got together, visited each other, and discussed issues affecting marriages. It brought church members closer and also a lot of marriages were healed. Again, seeing the way our society is going, families are being torn apart. So I have the burden in my heart to be a part of a ministry that will have a positive impact in helping to rebuild families.

T

he role that families and marriages play in the church body is essential to His eternal plan, and even though CUMI and its programs support marriage and family and generally are successful at doing so, we should always remember the basic truth

that no instrumentality or organization can take the place of the home or perform its essential functions. Primarily as men and women, husbands and wives, and as mothers and fathers and secondarily as priesthood and auxiliary leaders in the Church, we should realize that families serve as a breeding ground for anything either good or bad. Many families are broken and are in a total mess because husbands and wives are not in a good relationship, which is one of the greatest problems facing the society today. The church (which is the body of Christ) will not be free from social vices when family is not in order.

O

ur assignment is to bring families together and discuss the essential role of eternal marriage in our Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness. We will incorporate professional counseling if there is a need in consultation with our general overseer (Apostle Mathew Oluwajoba). This was evident from the first meeting of the Family Alive, which was a huge success. Words cannot express how successful it was. We had over 60 attendees. To God is the glory.

2012

VACATIONAL BIBLE SCHOOL T his year’s VBS program was a very exceptional and blessed one. It was a four day program, but full of energy, love, creativity, talents, gifts, passion and anointing. This is a program we host once every year, but this year’s was very informative. We had children of all ages and the youths up to the age of 19.

Our goal was to impact them with the Word of God, by getting them to have the full knowledge of God through the bible. They were also taught to love one another; how to pray, work together and share. The children had the pleasure of quoting bible verses, singing and dancing. They came out in numbers and we also had guests from other churches. The youths on the other hand, studied the Word of God and got to understand so many things they were confused about. For example, they understood that they could be used by God as teenagers and do not have to be old to be used by God. They discovered their various spiritual gifts, and also learnt how to fast and pray. The youths became motivational speakers during this program. The parents and congregation was fascinated by the performances and speeches of the youths. This really motivated the parents and the entire congregation, not forgetting our very own Father in the Lord, and General Overseer, Apostle Matthew Oluwajoba. There was the birth of the CUMI Youth Choir, during this program. For most of the youths, it was an opportunity to express their level of responsibility as they assisted the teachers.

T

he success of the program led to the youth choir ministering in the church. The children‘s department has fast grown since the program. Amazingly, the youth department has increased tremendously. The entire children’s and youth department has now become one big family. We are highly grateful to the leadership of CUMI for its support towards our department. God couldn’t have blessed us more with anyone better than our highly anointed Apostle Mathew Oluwajoba. Most importantly, you cannot talk about the VBS, children and youth departments without mentioning the name; Bro. James Dada. A man who has become a father to the children and youths of CUMI, he truly and faithfully represented God, the G. O. and the entire CUMI family during this program and always, whenever he’s in this department. I look forward to next year’s VBS program, but it will be more of a blessing if you join us after reading this piece. Remain Blessed

THE WORD OF GOD - THE BIBLE The words in bold letters in the paragraph below are hidden in the puzzle. Words can be across, down or diagonal. Can you find them all? The Bible is truly a miracle. There are a total of 66 books, 39 in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament. The Bible was written by over 36 different people, and over a period of about 1,500 years. The authors came from many different backgrounds and professions. There were fishermen, farmers, politicians, teachers, doctors, tentmakers and even kings. It would be mathematically impossible for so many different people over so many years to write with suchharmony and accuracy, if it were not for the Holy Spirit. God told these people what to write. The Bible is the Word of God.

Youth MINISTRY

MINISTRIES

HOSPITALITY Department.

T

he youth department is a dynamic ministry to every member of the CUMI family with unique programs that meet the needs of every child participating in the ministry. Every child is unique, and with God’s help we intend to meet the individual spiritual needs of every one of them by liaising with their parents, the leadership of CUMI and other churches to carry out the Great Commission. (Matt. 28:19-20) In the 1st year of the department, the population grew from 8 to 40. The youths were involved in various activities that challenged them in various areas of life, which has improved their lives and make them to better understand the scriptures. They went on mission to feed the homeless and they experienced another part of life. They also embarked on a “Youth Retreat Program” at the Discovery Camp in Columbus, Texas during the Spring Break. This gave them exposure to other youths in other ministries in the Country, and the Vacation Bible School (VBS).

INTERVIEW

Women of virtue LN: This is an interview for Liberty magazine. I am interviewing Deaconess Bello. Please if you don’t mind, I have a few questions I want to ask you today. Number one: What and who are the Women of Virtue? If you can please elaborate on that.

Bello: Praise the Lord. Women of Virtue in CUMI, which is Christ United Ministries International, according to Proverbs 31:10 it says “who can find a virtuous woman, for her prize is found above rubies”. We, CUMI Women of Virtue, we stand for goodness, rightousness and we define moral excellence. We strive to define and defend virtue in our homes and in our communities. We conform our lives and conduct to the moral and ethical principles in the bible. Thank you. LN: Thank you ma’am. If I can go a little further could you expanciate on what the mission of the Women of Virtue. Bello: The mission of Christ United Ministries Women of Virtueis to provide oppurtunities for women to connect with each other in the church. To empower ourselves by praying together, doing things together and to build our faith together. We go out to preach the gospel by reaching out to the community and this makes us virtuous women. LN: The Women of Virtue from CUMI. What are the objectives for helping other women in the society and at the church? Bello: Praise the living Jesus. Our objectives is to lift up the voice of Women of Virtue by raising awareness of womenhood and to show the pride, honor, integrity and self worth of women within ourselves and then passing it to others. As people come into the church we pass it on to each other. God bless you. LN: Thank you ma’am. The Women of Virtue are held in a very high profile. What are the ongoing event and accomplishments by the Women of Virtue. Bello: Thank you so much. In this year alont the Women of Virtue have had women breakfast meaning every quarter. The first quarter of the year we had one and the second quarter of the year we

always have one between march and april, between june and july. Then we have one in september then in december. Every quarter we have to have a breakfast womens meeting. In this meeting we sit down together and eat in the morning and then we pray and talk about issues concerning women. Some people talk about marital issues it can be any type of problem that we think among ourslelves we can discuss. Talk about true life things that some people do not know how to handle. We reach out to the homeless and to those in the orphanage through the charity department among the women. The last time we went to the orphanage and the homeless facility to give them food and the next thing we plan to do is to try and go out of the country. We don’t want to limit it to houston alone. We want to try to reach places like africa. We pray together once a month and we have our Wednesday night vigils. In our Wednesday night vigil we try pray and build each other up by participating and making sure all other women participate in the prayers and activities during the service. On the first and last Wednesday of the month. Midnight we’ll be there seeking the face of the Lord, praying for the church, husbands, children, and everything else. So they Lord will be able to move in our mist. We thank God for this. We are providing fellowship, leadership and guidance to all women. We do fellowship with each other. Each depending on what is going on in the lives of some women, if we know about it, we will go out and fellowship with that person. Then we guide some people in whatever area they need help. We have built and developed genuine love between one another. We don’t want to be like some churches or some other organizations that in which love is not among them. We talk and we show love among each other so that it can move through us and then towards the church. When love moves among the women it moves heavily among the church because women are the pillars in the church and if we have love among the women, we can move mountains. God is really helping us with this, we are showing genuine love amongst each other. We are well known for our biblical teachings and prayers. We have a standard to uplift Christ in the church and in the world. We put these standrads together so that when we pray together we uplift each other and the word of God and we practice what the Lord wants us to do, especially with charities. Proverbs 19:17

31 | Liberty Magazine /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

says,”when you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord and he pays wonderful interest on your loan” So whatever we do the helpless ones, to the homeless, to the hungry, God is seeing us. That is why we are really focusing on charities and love which we know will help us grow. As we do this it will add to the good of the church also. God bless you. LN: Thank you ma’am. You have spoken very well about the Women of Virtue. Going further, we are moving towards another anniversary. What are we to expect at that anniversary? Bello: The anniversary, which we are going to call the Women Convention, is going to take place on september 10th and 11th. This is going to develop the women of CUMI and women generally by letting them see their worth through the Lord their creator. We will start the womens conference to encorage and support the CUMI women to discover, to develop and to use our spiritual gifts because some women are sitting in the church. They are not able to develop the gift that God has put in their life but by the time we get everyone involved in this conference we’ll be able to bring out and discover the talent that God has already deposited in the life of women. We believe that God will help us. This conference will build the CUMI women to the extent that they will have a more initmate relationship, phyisically, spitually and mentally, with their husbands. In the area of exercise and physical fitness we’re going to pay more attention to that and it will help us alot. The theme for this convention is Women of Substance. The name of this convention is Women of Substance. When we say Women of Substance, what are the qualities of women of substance? Women of substance are women that conduct themselves with patience. Patience in our home, in anywhere that we find ourselves. Women that seek peace, love each other, and are patient and steadfast in whatever they do. We are going to really talk on that and deal with that during the convention. We’re gonna talk about having a solid character and good qualities among the women. Women of Substance must have family values. We must let other people emulate what we are doing. We have to be family oriented.

So that is what a woman of substance should be. A woman of substance needs to conduct herself with honesty and integrity, which is what we are deal with during this convention. We have o be consistent and independent in our life, our jobs, among our friends, among our children, and even when our husbands drive us crazy. We must be paitient instead of reacting in anger. So those are the areas that we are going to focus on and because we are women of substance, Women of Virtue in CUMI, there is more to our life then just our friends and our job and we know that we have hobbies and goals that we can look forward to beyond the present moments. That is the reason we are adding physical fitness and some other lectures to the women conference. We already added to it so our women can be blessed, this convention will be power packed and God is soing to move mightily in our mist. In the mighty name of Jesus. At the end of this conference we will all give glory to the Lord. Thank you. LN: You have spoken very deeply and emotionally about the Women of Virtue which I can atest to the fact that you are making a big diffeence with the women in the church. Now moving on to the next question. Let me ask you this, if a new member of the church wants to get involved with the Women of Virtue what are the steps that they have to go through? Bello: Praise the Lord. When a new woman comes into the church and joins the women of virtue we always have our meeting once a month and we have our prayer sessions. During this session we always look for peopleto give us new ideas and new things, because alot of these women are inviolved in diffferent activities and in different churches or different organizations, when they come in they have great ideas they can give us. So we tap into the life of these women through the meetings that we have together. We have the meeting, we get involved, we teach others, we meet and talk, and pray together and we do things like the conference. We tap into the knowledge that people have,so for them to get involved theres alwaysan approach that we do. when people join the churchwe let them know that we are here, even during the service we let them know that there is a women department which is the Women of Virtue ministry. These new people need to know and join so they can get involved in the area. We publicize, we need people to help us and get involved with the women of virtue by helping us to also plan events. There are great events that we do sometimes we go for evangelism, we do charity work, by the time we start to get involved with each other, we start to know where and what people are good at. People have been bkessed thorugh this and we get people involved and they have been happy in Women of Virtue. Thank you.

CHILDREN‘s C

Department

hildren are the Heritage of the Lord,..(PS. 127:3) this department is dedicated for the nurturing of the children in the way of the Lord. Our full focus is to ensure that the “Heritage” of the Lord which are the children have full knowledge of who they are in Christ and what they are created to be. We believe that foundation is very important. How a building will stand in the time of storm depends on how strong and deeply rooted its foundation is, hence for our children, we make it our mandate to ensure that our children’s foundation is deeply rooted in Christ through His word. Coupled with this, our children are taught manners and etiquettes. We ensure academic excellence for our children through our structured programs, educative outings and group presentations and games. The children’s department is a disciplined one and our children’s wellness is our priority, we work hard to ensure our children’s foundation is well molded however we also have great fun.

We ushered the spring in with an amazing Spring Break trip to the Children’s Museum Houston where we had such a huge children turnout in a single field trip but fun was not limited. Safety was ensured by our organized team which included members of the Liberated Youth (CUMI Youth Group), the Children Department Team and Volunteers. As part of parental appreciation program, we showed special honor to our mothers on Mother’s Day by handing out roses to every adult female present at that Sunday service.

M

oving into the summer, we had a Youth outing to a church event themed “Brother’s Keeper”. This was a two Awesome spring and summer 2011 day event started with a night vigil where four of our youths gave their life to Christ. The at CUMI Houston! second day set off with open forum question Spring/Summer 2011 was an exciting time in CUMI and answers on issues youths are facing Houston Children’s Department. and how to deal with these issues in a Godly

manner with the backing of the scriptures. The event rounded up with a team scavenger hunt.

Power

“JESUS SPEAKS TO THE STORM” This lesson confirms the power of the Lord over all creation. Jesus proves that He can conquer the storms that arise in our lives. He has the power to rescue us from our own personal storms (Mark 4:35-39).

Other events followed with Movie nights, day out to the Park, trip to the Museum of Natural Science, Charity/Giving time of the youths where our youths had to learn about the sacrifice of giving, we had a Youth fundraising, where the youths had to organize a fundraising as a team, this helped with their leadership, planning, organizing and team work skills. We also had a Lock-in/Pray over session and the Independence Day “PUT YOUR FAITH IN JESUS” This lesson is to build our confidence, trust and faith. He revealed His power BBQ/Splash/Fun day at the Church.

Persuaded

We rounded up the summer with the CUMI Houston Vacation Bible School which took place between the 25th and 28th of July. The theme for this year’s VBS was “Jesus to the Rescue”. This theme is based on Mark 4:3541 with the purpose of revealing the concern of Jesus for His disciples. When a large storm arises on the sea and tosses the boat the Disciples are in, threatening their very lives, they turn to Jesus. Jesus responds to their request for help and commands the storm to be quiet. The storm obeys the command of its Master. Each day of “Jesus to the Rescue” was broken down from the Scripture text into five lessons we called the five P’s. These are the five things this year’s VBS Scripture passage emphasizes what we must do in order to maximize the benefits of His presence with us Prepare : “A STORM IS COMING” We must always consider life’s uncertainties by preparation and building our lives (homes) on the Rock (Mark 4:35, Luke 6:46-49, Matt. 16:18).

Prayer

“WHEN STORMS ARISE, CALL ON JESUS” This lesson is to confirm that no matter how out of control life may seem, one should never give up hope in the ability and power of Jesus and the only way we acknowledge this is when we call on Him (Mark 4:37).

Presence

“JESUS TO THE RESCUE” The Bible repeatedly affirms that when Jesus is present in our hearts, He responds to our cries for assistance (Mark 4:38, John 11:1-44).

over creation when the storm recognized the voice of its Master and obeyed Him. It is easy to proclaim faith in Jesus’ ability when all is well, but what happens to our faith during instances of personal trouble and chaos? When problems come to roost in our individual homes, what do we do then? (Mark 4:40)

I

n conclusion, we believe that “Jesus to the Rescue” has helped our children gain the knowledge that: First, we must prepare for life’s uncertainties. We prepare for the good and bad in life by seeking His guidance and direction. Second, we must stay close to Him through prayer. Developing and maintaining a healthy prayer life keeps us connected to the Lord and allows us instant access to Him when we face the expected and the unexpected. Third, we must come to trust in Jesus’ presence with us and recognize that He is always aware of what we need. Fourth, we must accept that His power is undeniable. Storms subside at His command. We have access to the power of the Sovereign Lord and Creator of all life. Therefore, we must allow these things to work together to persuade us to believe in Him regardless of the threats against us. Faith that Jesus can rescue us from the storms of life is what we need to live successful and victorious lives.

T

o crown this amazing event, we had an Award ceremony where all participants received “Certificate of Participation”. Medals and trophies were also given for various categories (Perfect Attendance, Best Behaved for the different levels, Volunteers, special recognition and Parent of the Year). All to the glory of God these summer program saw several of our children openly giving their lives to Christ, having the excellent spirit of God and set to influence their community and friends for better. We at CUMI Houston Children’s Dept. bless God for an incredible spring and summer 2011 and look forward to a greater 2012.

CUMI SINGLES “Singles Mingle”

SINGLES MINISTRY - (He who is unmarried cares for the things of the Lord - how he may please the Lord.” 1 Cor 7:33 (NKJ) Purpose? • The singles are part of the church of God and they want their needs met like every other group in the church. •

There is a need and a demand for singles to connect with one another; fellowship.

The need to pray, plan together and train together (John 15: 5, 7).

To develop Christians singles who are willing to serve God and follow God’s plan for their lives To create an environment where pure Godly love is preached and practiced; where we become one family.

Vision: To build an all-inclusive thriving ministry where the spiritual, emotional and social needs of the singles are identified, and met. We want to create a ministry where we celebrate each other in such a way that our life styles serve as a form of evangelism to those in the world. This ministry is more than having bible studies together as we will solicit ideas from every member of the group and align our collective ideas with the vision of CUMI as a whole. The group will be kept informed through education (seminars and lectures that are not homogeneous in nature) which will bring healthy Christian perspective and balance to our lives. We plan to be acquainted with the Singles Ministries in other churches, and have events together while promoting activities that will be relevant to every member’s needs. We are committed to becoming right men and women of character, instead of merely trying to find the right person, thus equipping ourselves with the right tools to form a healthy marriage. (1 Timothy 4:7-8) We look forward to seeing you, fellowshipping with you, and growing in Christ Jesus with you…!

HEAVEN ? Heaven REVELATION

What happens in

I

dreamt that I went to Heaven and an Angel was showing me around. We spoke and walked sideby-side inside a large workroom filled with other Angels. My guardian Angel stopped in front of a section and said; “This is the Receiving Section”. Here, all petitions to God said in prayer are received.

When I looked around the area, it was terribly busy with so many Angels sorting out petitions written on voluminous paper sheets and scraps from people all over the world. Then we moved on down a long corridor until we reached another section.

T

he Angel then said to me, “This is the Packaging and Delivery Section”. Here, the Graces and Blessings that people asked for are processed and delivered to the living persons who asked for them... I noticed again how busy it was there. There were many Angels working hard at that station, since so many blessings had been requested and were being packaged for delivery to the World. Finally at the farthest end of the long corridor we stopped at the door of a very small station. To my great surprise, only one Angel was seated there, idly doing nothing. “This is the Acknowledgment Section”. My guardian Angel quietly admitted to me. He seemed embarrassed. I asked how is it that there is no work going on here. So sad, the angel sighed. “After people receive the blessings that they asked for, very few send back acknowledgments”. I asked, how does one acknowledge God’s blessings? Simple, the Angel answered. Just say, THANK YOU, LORD. What blessings should people acknowledge? I asked... He said:

• If you have food on your table and in your refrigerator, clothes to wear, a roof over your head to sleep, then you are richer than 75% of the world. • If you have never experienced the fear in battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation... You are ahead of 700 million people in the world. • If you live in a country where you can attend a church without the fear of harassment, arrest, torture or death you are envied by, and more blessed than, Millions of other people in the world. • If your parents are still alive and still married... you are very rare. • If you can hold your head up and smile, you are not the norm, you’re unique to all those in doubt and despair. • If you have a job/career, money in the bank, in your wallet, and a spare change, you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy. Now, I want to challenge you by asking- Do you give back to the Lord? rethren, my question to you now is this- How do you want to start? If I have given this to you, and you can read the message, you just received a double blessing and you are more blessed than other people in the world who cannot read at all, and those who do not have the opportunities that you have.

B I

want you to count your blessings, remind everyone else how blessed we all are, and spread the Gospel. Evangelize, tell the World about Jesus and tell them about the LightHouse for Nations. ATTENTION: Acknowledge Department: I Thank you Lord, for giving me the knowledge, wisdom, understanding, power and ability to share this message and for giving me so many blessed and wonderful CUMI people to share it with. Thank You Lord,

Pastor James Dada
