ALLAH TA'ALA'S MERCY Have we really understood its depth?
“
Verily, there are one hundred (100 parts of) mercy for Allah, and it is one (1) part of this mercy by virtue of which there is mutual love between the people and ninety-nine (99) reserved for the Day of Resurrection.” (Muslim) When Allah Ta'ala sent Nabi Moosa and Nabi Haroun (Alayhis salaam) to Firaun who was an arch enemy of not only Nabi Moosa (Alayhis salaam) but also an open enemy of Allah Ta'ala when he claimed divinity, Allah Ta'ala admonished both the brothers with the following words: (“O Musa and Haroun Alayhis salaam) address Firaun with soft, gentle and kind words. Perhaps he will gain admonishment or develop Allah Ta'ala's fear.” Here we have an avowed enemy of Allah Ta'ala who could be utterly destroyed for his crime
was not only rejection of Allah Ta'ala but transcending all limits by claiming to be Allah Ta'ala Himself. He went to the extent of saying to Nabi Moosa (Alayhis salam) that: “O Moosa, I do not know of any other deity worthy of worship for you (and your people) besides myself.” He further crosses the line when he says to his minister: “O Haamaan, construct for me a lofty tower (reaching far into the skies) so that I may take a peek at the Lord of Moosa, for indeed I consider him to be a liar (in his claim that there is another object worthy of worship besides me). If the above is not the pinnacle and height of defiance then what can be? Firaun on account of his might and power over his people unreservedly rejected Allah Ta'ala with absolutely no signs of remorse or regret. His defiance had reached a limit where no other had been. Despite this outright defiance

and rejection we still find Allah Ta'ala instructing his messengers to be gentle and kind to such a person. In the tafseer of the first verse, Allaamah Ibni Katheer writes the following: O the One Who shows so much kindness, mercy and compassion to the one who is an open enemy! How much more mercy, kindness and compassion will he show to those who are believers in him? The first ten days of Ramadaan are characterised as being the days of Allah Ta'ala's mercy. The remainder twenty days of which ten are the days of forgiveness and the last ten are the days of emancipation or freedom from the fire of Jahannum are also byproducts of Allah Ta'ala's mercy! Allah Ta'ala's mercy is a perennial concept. In Ramadaan His mercy pours out from the heavens like how flood gates of a dam are opened. If there is anything that can deliver us from our miserable
and lamentable conditions both on an individual basis as well as on the basis of an Ummah, it will only be Allah Ta'ala's limitless mercies. Ramadaan offers us this chance of grabbing and seizing the limitless mercies of Allah Ta'ala. After all there is no one amongst us who is on the same level of Firaun in terms of defiance to Allah Ta'ala. If He can show so much mercy to Firaun can we imagine the extent of His mercy on us who believe in Him and His greatness! Can we imagine the degree of mercy He will show to us as we raise our hands at the time of Iftaar and beg of it? After all is not our fasting only because of adherence to His command? Bearing in mind just the above, no Muslim can ever become despondent of the mercy of Allah Ta'ala. And above this, we have Ramadaan on our side. If we've felt that our pleas for mercy have not been heard in the past, then another try is worth the while!

WHICH GROUP ARE YOU IN?
A
s Ramadaan approaches people become quickly divided into groups in terms of how they view the upcoming month of Ramadaan. The groups are namely the following: The first group: This group sees Ramadaan as a looming burden which is approaching to rob them of their valuable time and place all sorts of restrictions and shackles on their lives. If Ramadaan were to start on a weekend they view this as 'awkward' and burdensome. They wish that the hilaal signalling the commencement of Ramadaan could be sighted at the end of the weekend instead at the beginning or middle. Even before Ramadaan begins, they begin discussing the day of Eid. This attitude towards Ramadaan automatically thrusts them in a lazy and lethargic mode. They begin the very first fast complaining and moaning of the 'inconvenience' and cannot wait for the time of Iftaar. No sooner than Iftaar commences, they begin
10
feasting. Salaah is not given any importance, Tilaawaah of Qur'aan and all other acts of worship are merely discarded. Besides abstaining from food and drink they continue their days as they would outside Ramadaan. They see the fast as nothing more than an obstacle in front of their desires. At the end of Ramadaan they emerge unpurified and still full of sin. The second group: This group sees the month of Ramadaan as a month of food and drink. Fasting during the day and feasting during the night. At the time of Iftaar, tables are laden and brimming with all sorts of tantalising delicacies. They continue gorging themselves right till the time of sehri. During the day most of their time is consumed running from one supermarket to the next trying to buy whatever their palates crave for whilst fasting. Ramadan doesn't increase them except in appetite. It is needless to say that eating excessively is detrimental to one's health and well-being. It is a known fact that over-eating causes fatigue and laziness. The
worst part of this is whilst many reach target weight in Ramadaan those in this group tip the scales. The third group: All that this group knows about Ramadaan is that fasting is obligatory in this month. And this is all they do very diligently of course. Neither the days nor the nights are spent in the other prescribed acts of worship. Even salaah is regarded as unimportant for this group. They awaken with Allah's displeasure and sleep with Allah's displeasure. Allah Ta'ala has no need for their abstention from food and drink. Their exercise is merely a selfstarvation. Nothing more is gained. The fourth group: This group is the seasonal Muslim who does not know Allah except in the month of Ramadaan. From the first day of Ramadaan they undergo a total transformation. The Muslim inside now shows on the outside too. They fill the masaajid, dorn the sunnah clothing, engage in thikr, attach themselves to the Qur'aan
and become epitomes of piety. All this just for the 30 day period. As soon as the Hilaal for Eid is sighted they return to their former states until the next Ramadaan when the Muslim in them emerges once again. The fifth group: This is the group who patiently await the arrival of Ramadaan amidst great excitement and longing. In fact in the months and weeks preceeding Ramadaan, plans are underway as to how they would make the most of this blessed month. And when Ramadaan finally arrives, they embrace it whole-heartedly roll up their sleeves and spring into action letting not even a moment go by without taking full advantage of the gift of time in Ramadaan. In Ramadaan they ascend to unprecedented spiritual heights and emerge pure and cleansed on the last day of Ramadaan. This month rejuvenates and strengthens them in an amazing and remarkable way. Evaluate yourself. Which group do you belong to?

THE INVESTMENT
A
n investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked in. Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna and a few other species of fish. The investment banker complimented the fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The fisherman replied, "Only a little while.” The investment banker then asked, "Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more fish?” The fisherman said, "With this I have more than enough to support mine and my family's needs.” The investment banker then asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?” The fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siesta with my wife, stroll into the village each evening and spend time with my family, I have a full and busy
life.” The investment banker scoffed and in a mocking tone said to the fisherman, "I am a Harvard MBA. Maybe you could do with a little advice from me which would surely help you. You should spend more time fishing; and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat: With the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats. Eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman you would sell directly to the wholesaler; eventually opening your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to a big town and eventually to the big city where you will run your ever-expanding enterprise.” The fisherman asked, "But, how long will this all take?” To which the investment banker replied, "15 to 20 years.” "But what then?" asked the fisherman. The investment
banker laughed and said that's the best part. "When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich, you would make millions.” “Millions?...Then what?” The investment banker said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings and spend time with your family." The fisherman looked at him with a sly smile and said,”But isn't it that currently I am sleeping late, fish a little, play with my kids, take siestas with my wife and stroll in the evenings in the market place and spend time with my family? Then why do I need to do all of what you have advised to achieve what I already have with minimum effort?” At the end why all the extra effort when the resultant of both the efforts are the same? Our lives are a mirror image of the MBA graduates thinking in
many ways. We too feel that the more we exert ourselves in acquiring wealth the better it would be for us. To a limited extent this may hold true but then no matter how much wealth we possess we can only drive onecar at a time, live in one home at a time and even if we have to eat the best this too will have limitations. What use would be all the excess wealth thereafter? Hedonism and materialism are basically the direct cause of our thinking in this way. A hedonist only thinks about satisfaction of his base and carnal bodily desires which drives him to harness all his efforts in amassing and acquiring more and more of this worldly wealth despite the fact that its uses can be very limited and there's no guarantee that his all his efforts will be fruitful. It is a gamble that we all take. Why not rather invest in the Aakhiraah which has guarantees of everlasting joy, pleasure and more than this carries no risks what so ever?

IFTAAR SATIRIZED
I
t happens just about an hour before Iftaar, somewhat after the Asr Salaah. The calm, serenity and tranquillity that envelopes almost every home in Ramadaan for the most part of the day is suddenly shattered. The home at this time assumes the form of a disaster site. The first signs of this impending disaster appear in the form of the wafting smells of baking pies in the oven and samoosas being lowered into hot oil as these aromas spread within the home slowly and spill out onto the streets. When this begins then all hell begins to break loose gradually. The lady of the household in her attempt to lay the iftaar table with as much goodies as possible hurriedly wraps up her Asr salaah and dashes off into the kitchen. Draped in her long flowing burqaah she looks likes superwoman-after all at this time nothing less is expected of her. She engages into overdrive and like the general of an army she
begins barking orders to her troops. Usually the eldest is commissioned with the laying of the iftaar table. She or sometimes He is to ensure that all plates are in place with drinking glasses and off course not forgetting the haleem bowls and cutlery. Mission number two entails placing all the sauces and chutneys on the table as well as the freshly baked naan and half cut lemons. At the other end of the house pandemonium breaks out as the middle child attempts to gather the flock as quickly as possible and herd them towards the iftaar table. Pulling, pushing, screaming and squabbling they make their way to the table. Then the frothy milkshakes and selection of juices are quickly removed out of the refrigerator and placed at the table. By the time the flock has finally settled at the table the samoosas and pies are done to a lovely golden colour. The mini-pizzas are given a quick spin in the microwave just to melt the cheeses. All these delicacies (need we add totally unhealthy) are meticulously arranged on platters and are now ready for shipment. The steaming
pot of haleem is emptied into a serving bowl and also ready for the iftaar table. Lastly the medjool or routab or ajwa dates are removed from the refrigerator and one is placed in each plate. At this time the father rushes in from work, quickly dashes into the bathroom, makes his wudhu and seats himself at the table with the rest of the flock. By this time, there's just a few minutes left for iftaar. Mother in the last minutes quickly circles the table and does a final inspection to see if all is in order. Then she plunks herself on the next available chair and everyone sits in anticipation of the Azaan (if this can be heard) or all eyes are fixated on their watches. The time of iftaar finally comes and the excitement knows no bounds as the family dig into the banquet spread out before them! As they devour everything in their path everyone seems to have forgotten what they have missed. The most important part of the iftaar table setting -DUAA. We leave you with the following incident which needs no elaboration. Once Nabi Moosa (A.S.) who is known as Kaleemul –laah (the one
whom Allah Ta'ala spoke directly to) asked Allah Ta'ala, O Allah, he asked, “You, through your grace and mercy have gifted me with the ability of speaking directly to you. Is there anyone else who has been given this or will there be anyone else that would be endowed with this gift?” Allah Ta'ala replied, “O Moosa, I would give rise to a nation who would appear in the latter eras and I will honour them with the month of Ramadaan. When they will fast to the extent that their lips will be dry and their throats will be parched as a result of thirst, their faces will change as a result of the pangs of hunger. At the time of Iftaar they will make Duaa. With you O Moosa, there are still 70 veils that come in between you and I. With them and I, O Moosa, there would be not a single veil or barrier!” So blessed is this moment of Iftaar and duaa in it that at this time, the angels around the Arsh (Throne) of Allah Ta'ala that are commissioned to make the Tasbeeh (Glorification) of Allah Ta'ala are even commanded to stop their tasbeeh and say A'ameen to the Duaa of the person making iftaar. taking lessons from these narrations. Hazrat HUD (AS) confronted his people with short measures in their dealings which were predominantly evil at the time. Hazrat LUT (AS), also was instructed by ALLAH SWT to confront his people about their homosexual behaviours, also the dominant EVIL of his time. These people of the past may have had other evils, but ALLAH SWT through his wisdom instructed his messengers to confront the most widespread and prevalent EVIL of their times, so as to 'HIT the nail on the head'. Today, with the increase of western influences and materialism, we also are faced with many trials and fitnas. One of the dominant evils more and more Muslims are subjecting themselves to is Riba (Interest) and insurance policies. We see a trend where many Muslims are living way beyond their means, trying to 'keep up with jones' and as a result are involving themselves in unnecessary interest transactions. We are acquiring things that we cannot afford. In fact, some religious scholars nowadays give “room for permissibility” fatwas that aggravate the problem. We
find people striving for the top of the range products instead of settling for something less, that may also serve the desired purpose, instead of purchasing a Toyota TAZ or a TATA for example, we opt for either a BMW or Merc, not any model though, only 'the best in the range' will do. Yet we don't have the finance to acquire these expensive cars. Same goes for houses and many other items we own. This is the western way of living, NOT Islamic. These material possessions have become so near and dear to us that we fear any loss or damage to any, as a result, we are paying excessive premiums to INSURE these items. Just witness a person's reaction when somebody merely scratches his new BMW. Unfortunately, the platforms that we occupy, either Juma khutbahs, radio stations, written media or any other type of discourses that we hold, rarely address these issues that are facing the global Muslim populous. I humbly ask, WHY the SILENCE? Is it because we also are
living these lifestyles? Is it that we fear offending
people by talking about their indulgences? Do we speak to please the people we are addressing? Is it just pure neglect? Why have we become so selective in what we talk about? Why do we speak about some issues and completely ignore others?
Take a moment to ponder... Allah SWT declares WAR on the person that involves himself/herself with interest. We should seriously ponder over Nabi Muhammad (SAW) advice when dispatching one of his governors: 'Beware of Luxuries, the servants of ALLAH SWT do not live in luxury.' Striving for a better and guided Ummah.

6X5X30-HELPING YOU TOWARDS YOUR COMPLETION OF A RAMADAAN QUR'AAN
I
f you have already worked out the product of the above equation then you should have come to an answer of 900 and if you still trying to figure out its significance here in an Islamic magazine then read on. The above, clarified, means 6 pages, 5 times a day, over a period of 30 days. This is the simple and easiest method of completing the recitation of one Qur'aan during the month of Ramadaan. Take the Qur'aan in your hands and have a close look at it. Looks like a voluminous book right? But this shouldn't discourage you in the least bit for despite it being a voluminous book it's complete recitation is not impossible. Take the example of a man
52
that is tasked with removing a huge mound of sand. At first glance, he's not going to see the task ahead of him as an easy one. However, if he puts in place a plan of action, then that which seems insurmountable will in fact become that which is not just surmountable but easily surmountable. All he needs to do is on a daily basis is take away a few shovels of sand and within a period of time the mound will be no more and his mission will be accomplished. The Qur'aan is no different. If we allot a few minutes daily to its recitation in Ramadaan, then Insha-Allah, at the end of Ramadaan we too would be able to complete at least one full recitation of this glorious book of Allah Ta'ala, earn tremendous rewards and at least fulfill one right of the blessed month of Ramadaan which is reciting the complete Qur'aan.
Ramadaan is indeed the month of the Qur'aan. After all the Qur'aan was revealed in this month in totality, from the preserved tablet to the worldly firmaments and more specifically on the Night of Qadr, therefore the month of Ramadaan is also known as the month of the Qur'aan. However, we all know this very well, but many of us for some reason go half way with the recitation of the Qur'aan in Ramadaan and suddenly come to an abrupt halt. The Qur'aan is Allah Ta'ala's manual for the success of His creation. Not only is it to be read but understood and most important, its teachings are to be adhered to rigidly. However, today and that too sadly, this great Book of Allah Ta'ala has been abandoned throughout the year. It is only in Ramadaan that we find the Qur'aan but then again not every one of us
manages its complete recitation. So all it takes is just 6 pages after every salaah-at the end of each day one Juz (para) of the Qur'aan will Insha-Allah be completed. One Juz over 30 days gives you 30 Juz which entails the entire Qur'aan. Doesn't this already sound easier? And once we get into this routine then Insha Allah, this task would definitely become even more easier. So respected Reader if we have let go recitation of the complete Qur'aan in all our previous Ramadaan's on account of the task seeming to difficult, then we have simplified it for you this time. Try it and discover how it works and don't make a mountain of a molehill. May Allah Ta'ala grant us all the ability of reciting at least one complete Qur'aan in the month of Ramadaan, Aameen.

FACT
QADAA FASTS EXPLAINED Whosoever has missed a fast of Ramadaan is liable to compensate it with fasting after Ramadaan. This fast if called 'the fast of Qada'. Fast of qada' may be observed any day during the year except for the following days: (a) First of Shawwal (Eidul-fitr) (b) Tenth of Zulhijjah (Eiduladha) (c) Eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth of Zulhijjah. On these days fasting is strictly prohibited. So the fast of qada' cannot be observed on these days. Fast of Qada' should be observed as soon as possible after one has missed a fast of Ramadaan. Delaying the performance of qada' without a valid reason is not desirable. If someone has missed more than one fast, he can perform qada' for all of them continuously, or with intervals. But the fasts of kaffarah should necessarily be continuous
without any interval. Any interval makes the previous fasts nullified for the purpose of kaffarah, and one has to begin the fasts all over again. Unlike the fast of Ramadaan and optional (Nafl) fasts, in the fast of Qada' it is necessary to make niyyah before the dawn. If a person has an obligation to keep a large number of the fasts of qada' he should write down the exact number of the fasts due on him. He should also make a will that if he could not fast in his life time, his heirs should pay fidyah (redemption from obligation not carried out) from his left over property. The amount of fidyah for one fast is one kilo and six hundered sixty two grams of wheat or its price which is the amount of sadaqatul Fitr given out on the day of Eidul Fitr. If the amount of fidyah can be paid from one-third property of a deceased person who has made a will to pay fidyah, the heirs are bound to pay it from his left over property. But if the deceased made no will to pay fidyah, the

68
heirs are not bound to pay it from his property. Similarly, if the amount of fidyah exceeds one-third of the property left by the deceased, the heirs are not liable to pay the excess, unless they wish to do so by their free will. SOME ACTS THAT NULLIFY THE FAST AND ONLY MAKE QADAA WAAJIB · Eating and drinking intentionally. One should repent to Allah for the sin that he has committed and do good deeds profusely. But if he eats or drinks out of forgetfulness or forcibly, then no Qadaa' (atonement) is required of him. · Breaking the fast thinking that the sun has set (e.g., on a cloudy day) and then HE sees the sun still visible. · All which enters the stomach through the mouth or nose. For example exaggerating in rinsing the mouth and sniffing up the water while performing ablution unforgettably (i.e., knowing that he is fasting). Inhaling the smoke of lobaan, agarbathi etc. Lastly, Using nutrient injections such as
glucose, vitamins etc. which are considered as a source of food for the body. · Discharge of semen deliberately while awake and by one's choice (i.e., by kissing one's wife, embracing her, fondling or looking at what excites him and masturbation). However, the discharge of semen while sleeping will not nullify one's fasting because it did not happen deliberately. Also if it is discharged due to sickness this won't nullify the fast. · Vomiting intentionally by himself on his own accord by putting his finger in the mouth nullifies the fast. However should a person vomit involuntary his fast still remains intact as long as the vomit is not a mouthful or more. · Menstruation and post-birth bleeding. · Cupping (i.e., letting out blood medically) during the state of fasting may cause weakness, which in turn compels someone into breaking his fast. It is better to avoid giving blood or donating blood while observing the fast.

TREND SLAVES
B
ismillah-hirRahman-nir-Rahim. Peace and blessings of ALLAH SWT on ALL that are rightly guided. We should use technology to better our lives, i.e. to make us better Muslims. Unfortunately, this has NOT been the desired effect in recent years. We ALL remember the Blackberry revolution, where almost everybody HAD to own a blackberry device to be cool and ‘recognized’ as somebody in society. Nowadays it’s the chance of SAMSUNG to take the reins. What’s next? The West knows exactly how to lead people, and we are falling into this trap every time. Nobody is spared, male and female, young and old, even our toddlers aspire to own these devices, if they aren’t owners already. It is SAD to note that even our Imams, not only carry these expensive, ‘status symbol’ devices, but deliberately show
them off by using their ‘Touch screen’ functionality in many places, including the Masajids. If they are NOT being displayed openly, even so, by noticing the bulge in their pockets, you can tell with confidence, that it is either a Samsung S4, S5 or S something. Perhaps we can’t wait for the T or U series to overcome us. We may argue that it’s NOT the device, but the functionality they provide. Tell me, does it really matter whether 1.5 Ghz (Giga hurzt) is superior to a let’s say 1.2 Ghz processor or whether the 8 Megapixel is better than a 5 Megapixel camera or whether there are 2 USB ports instead of 1USB port? Interesting to note that more than 60% to 70% of the features that these modern day devices boast, are hardly being utilised by the majority of people owning these devices. In fact, many are ignorant and oblivious to many of the features of these devices, yet they MUST posses one. Have we become trend/fashion
slaves? Before, we were judged by the piety/truthfulness in our hearts and the simplicity of our actions and behaviour, nowadays, a person commands status by the Car he drives or even, by the phone he owns. Where are we going to? Our kids are NOT spared by this enslavement either. Today, children and adults too, will NOT wear clothing or shoes if there is NO Tick sign on them. But there should only be one tick not 2 (Nike), or equally, we refuse to submit if there is no sign of a ‘puma’ (Puma) on the garment, or there must be 3 lines (Adidas), Not 4 before we adorn them. I humbly ask. Is this the beautiful Sunnat of our beloved Nabi (SAW) or our pious predecessors? Our Beloved Nabi (SAW) dawned clothing with patches. Even Hazrat Omar (RA) as Amirul-Moeminin opened Jerusalem with no less that 14 or 16 patches on his garment. Yet they are honoured to this day by many.
I further ask, what has happened to simplicity, and moderation in action and deed? Why are we blindly following the ideals of the West? Aren’t we the best of mankind, taken out for the salvation of mankind? Are we ashamed of the Sunnat of our Beloved Nabi (SAW) or the khulafa-e-rashideen? We may ALL reply to the contrary, however, our actions and trends bear witness to our injustices and hypocrisies and deviation. Remember, We HAVE THE BEST, We need NOT look anywhere else. ALL the answers to ALL our problems are in our beautiful deen, i.e. the Holy Quran and Sunnat of our Beloved Nabi (SAW). Lets wake-up from our slumber. Lets revive the true spirit of Islam and in doing so, Inshallah, guide Humanity to eternal bliss and salvation INSTEAD OF BEING LED TO ETERNAL DOOM. Striving for a better and guided Ummah.

adrat Abdullaah Bin Abbas (R.A.)) narrates, "The Prophet (S.A.W.) declared the payment of Sadaqatul-Fitr as obligatory, as it (Sadaqat-ul-Fitr) purifies the fasting person from his errors, sins (i.e. backbiting, lying e.t.c), and is a source of feeding the poor." (ABU DAWOOD)
approximately 1.75 Kilograms of wheat or its value in money. This amount is prescribed for paying Sadaqat-ul-fitr for one person only. If a person has some minor children, the same amount has to be paid on behalf of each one of them separately.
Sadaqat-ul-fitr is an obligation for every Muslim, male or female, who owns 613.35 grams of silver or its equivalent, either in the form of money, ornaments, stock-in-trade, or in the form of some goods or commodities beyond one's normal needs. Every person who owns such an amount has to pay Sadaqatul-fitr, not only on behalf of himself but also on behalf of his minor children. The prescribed amount of Sadaqat-ul-fitr is
1. Sadaqat-ul-fitr is compulsory on each adult male or female, and the relevant adult person himself is responsible to pay it. The husband is not required to pay Sadaqat-ul-fitr on behalf of his wife nor is the wife supposed to pay it on behalf of her husband. Similarly, a father is not bound to pay Sadaqat-ul-fitr on behalf of his adult children or vice-versa. However, if the head of the family, by his own free

will, wishes to pay Sadaqat-ulfitr for each one of the members of his family, he should seek their authorization for that purpose. In this case the Sadaqat-ul-fitr paid by him will be valid on their behalf. If he did not pay the Sadaqat-ul-fitr on behalf of any of the members of his family, he will not be responsible for it. Rather, it is the duty of every adult member of the family to discharge his own obligation or to request the head of the family to pay it on his or her behalf. 2. It is a Sunnah that the Sadaqat-ul-fitr is paid before performing the 'Eid Salaah. It can also be paid before the 'Eid day, but it is not advisable to delay it up to the performance of' Eid Salaah. However, if a person has failed to pay on its proper time, he should pay it as soon as possible, whereby the obligation will stand
discharged. 3. The Sadaqat-ul-fitr is not necessary on behalf of a child who was born after the break of dawn in the 'Eid day, nor is it necessary to pay Sadaqat-ul-fitr on behalf of a person who dies before the dawn of the Eid day. 4. Sadaqat-ul-fitr should be paid only to a person who is entitled to receive Zakah, thus nonmuslims cannot be the recipients of sadaqatul-fitr. NOTE: AT THE TIME OF GOING TO THE PRESS THE SADAQATUL-FITR AMOUNT WAS R15-00. ZAKAT AND SOCIAL JUSTICE
T
he Zakât system revealed by Allah and instituted by the Prophet (Saw) was complete and functional among Muslims in the Seventh Century. Within a few years of the Prophet's migration to Madinah, the Zakât system had become so effective that very few people even needed it. For one of the virtues of Zakât is that in providing for the poor and linking each to all and all to each, it enables people to separate themselves from those social practices that guarantee the impoverishment of some. It took more than 13 centuries after the Prophet (Saw) for Europe (and by that time America) to even address poverty systematically with some effectiveness. Not until 1941 did England and the United States initiate a worldwide agreement for governments to respect and
warrant the social welfare of their nationals. Yet even then beliefs imbedded in capitalist and communistic economic theory made it a certainty that global poverty would increase to the civilization- and ecologythreatening proportions we live with today. Equitable Distribution of Zakât Resources are not only gifts from God to all human beings but also a trust. Accordingly, Islam emphasizes an equitable distribution of income and wealth for the fulfillment of the needs of everyone. As a consequence of the application of one's skills and efforts, one's birth, location, and timing, and other factors extreme inequalities emerge between people. In the absence of adequate social restraints and mechanisms for re-distribution, wealth invariably concentrates in the hands of a few. To counter
this, in part, God has enjoined the believing society with strict laws of inheritance and public disbursement of windfalls, establishing the institution of Zakât to redress extreme or highly skewed inequalities of income and wealth. As God states it in the Quran: “So that [wealth] does not merely circulate between the wealthy among you.” (Al-Hashr, 59:7) In every society, there are those who may find it hard to earn a living through their own labor, whether owing to disability, lack of opportunity, or depressed production or wages. Islam addresses this by making helping the needy an individual and collective responsibility, first within Muslim families and society, and then through the global Muslim community at large. Moreover, it forbids, in the

strongest and broadest terms, stigmatizing the destitute or blaming them for their condition (Qurayshî, Annual Zakât Computation Guide, 9-13). If a Muslim society does not apply the comprehensive economic injunctions of the Quran and the Prophet, the ZakâtCharity alone will not be enough to recreate poverty-free societies, as we have just described. We have plenty of examples of this insufficiency in the Muslim societies of our times (societies that, for the most part, do not even structure the Zakât institution properly!) Yet were Muslims to prudently apply the principles of Zakât in a current Muslim country, it would not, in isolation of all other factors, cure poverty. Zakât is part of a godly economic outlook on, and practice in, the world. For example, Islam forbids extravagance, whether or not one is rich or poor. Thus owning utensils made of gold and silver, or residing in ostentatious homes, is considered excessive, even forbidden. In addition, Islam also forbids earning interest. Rather, it inspires human beings to work for their money, not to live off the incurable debt and financial misery of others. Moreover, Islam calls upon the rich to employ the poor. So the narratives of Zakât's amazing historical success that we have just recounted demonstrate the great efficacy of the Zakât-Charity system at work within the spiritual-moral context of Islam's other economic injunctions; among people who have internalized its concepts of selflessness, self-restraint, conservation, sufficiency, contentment, modesty, extended family and familial responsibility, and love of the poor; and, above all, amid societies whose members are resolutely committed to upholding the divine covenant of all Muslims to implement and secure the individual believer's unfettered right of total worship.

THE VIRTUES OF FASTING IN RAMADAAN
V
irtues of Fasting as mentioned in the Qur'aan and
Sunnah
- The reward for fasting is immense, as mentioned in the following Hadeeth: "Every action of the son of Adam is given manifold reward, each good deed receiving then times its like, up to seven hundred times. Allah the Most High said, 'Except for fasting, for it is for Me and I will give recompense for it, he leaves off his desires and his food for Me.' for the fasting person there are two times of joy; a time when he breaks his fast and a time of joy when he meets his Lord, and the smell coming from the mouth of the fasting person is better with Allah than the smell of musk." [Bukhaari] Hadrat Sahl ibn Sa`d (R.A.) has said that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: "Indeed there is a gate of Paradise called arRayyaan. On the day of Resurrection those who fast will enter through it; no one enters it except for them, and when they
have entered, it is closed so that no one enters it, so when the last of them enters it, it is closed, and whoever enters it drinks, and whoever drinks never becomes thirsty." [Ibn Khuzaimah, Saheeh]. "Fasting is a shield with which a servant protects himself from the Fire of Jahannum." [Ahmad] - On the Day of Judgement, "Fasting will say: O My Lord I prevented him from food and desires so accept my intercession for him." [Ahmad] - Fasting is a means for one's sins to be forgiven. The Prophet (S.A.W.) said: "He who fasts Ramadaan, with Imaan(faith) and hoping for reward (from Allah) then his past sins are forgiven." [Bukhaari] - The supplication of the fasting person is answered: "There is in the month of Ramadaan in every day and night those to whom Allah grants freedom from the Fire, and there is for every Muslim a supplication which he can make and will be granted." [ Ahmad] - Fasting is an expiation for various sins, as mentioned in the Qur'aan, in verses: 4:92,

5:89, 5:95 and 58:3-4. - The fasting person will be among the true followers of the prophets and the martyrs: `Hadrat Amr ibn Murrah alJuhaanee (R.A.) said: "A man came to the Prophet (S.A.W.) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what if I testify that none has the right to worshipped but Allah and that you are the Messenger of Allah, and I observe the five daily prayers, and I pay the zakaah, and I fast and stand in prayer in Ramadaan, then amongst whom shall I be?' He said: 'Amongst the true followers of the prophets and the martyrs.' " [Ibn Hibbaan, Saheeh] - Fasting is a shield against one's base desires, as the Prophet (S.A.W.) told the youth: "O youths, whoever amongst you is able to marry then let him do so, since it restrains the eyes and protects the private parts, and he who is unable, then let him fast because it is a shield for him." [Bukhaari,] Once we truly realise the greatness of fasting and what achievement it leads to, we will put all our efforts in fasting in
the best manner possible. And since fasting is worship, it must be done solely for Allah's sake, and no intention is accepted, other than pleasing Allah and seeking His pleasure with all one's sincerity. Without a correct intention, no deed is of any value in the Hereafter. We should constantly check our intentions and ask ourselves as to why we fast. Do we do so merely because it is the practice of our parents and friends, or do we do so because it is part of our tradition, or perhaps because we simply want to conform to our environment in order to avoid any problems? A Muslim who realises that only that which is with Allah remains, and that HeTa'ala is the only One who grants and withholds, would not be of those to which the Prophet (S.A.w.) alluded in the Hadeeth: "On the Day of Judgement, a caller will cry out, 'Whoever performed a deed for someone other than Allah may seek his reward from that for which he performed the deed' " [Bukhaari].

A BEAUTIFUL STORY ABOUT QURAN
A
n old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Quran. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could. One day the grandson asked, "Grandpa! I try to read the Quran just like you but I don't understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Qur'an do?" The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, "Take this coal basket down to the river and bring me back a

impossible to carry water in a basket, and he went to get a bucket instead. The old man said, "I don't want a bucket of water; I want a basket of water.
Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out when you read time by time. have to move a little faster next time," and sent him back to the river with the basket to try again. This time the boy ran faster, but again the basket was empty before he returned home. Out of breath, he told his grandfather that it was
You're just not trying hard enough," and he went out the door to watch the boy trying. At this point, the boy knew it was impossible, but he wanted to show his grandfather that even if he ran as fast as he could, the
water would leak out before he got back to the house. The boy again dipped the basket into river and ran hard, but when he reached his grandfather the basket was again empty. Out of breath, he said, "See Grandpa, it's useless! "So you think it is useless?" The old man said, "Look at the basket." The boy looked at the basket and for the first time realized that the basket was different. It had been transformed from a dirty old coal basket and was now clean, inside and out. Son, that's what happens when you read the Qur'an. You might not understand or remember everything, but when you read it, you will be changed, inside and out when you read time by time. That is the work of Allah in our lives...."

BE HAPPY Reehab Ramadan
A
t times, I like to close my eyes and imagine his face, (peace be upon him). I like to imagine what he looked like, the shape of his eyes and the color of his skin. Without fail, one thing always finds its way into my imagination, and that is his beloved smile. Never have I imagined him without it on his face, and it's always one that is purely genuine. He was a man of truth, and his inner state was the same as his outer state. He smiled, because he was happy. Today, everyone wants to be happy, but we don't always realize that Allah subhanahu wa ta`ala (exalted is He) wants us to be happy too. We don't realize that the Prophet encouraged genuine happiness. When someone begins to become “religious” often times the people around
him or her start to notice a loss of something very essential: their smile. The person may begin to dive deep into texts and rulings, they may begin to look around and see all the injustices that surround us and that we ourselves commit and find no choice other than grief and sadness. Yes, there are sad things in this world, devastating actually, but that doesn't mean we need to be constantly in grief. The Prophet himself said, “The best of all deeds is that you bring happiness to your Muslim brother, pay off his debt or feed him bread.” With that being said, how can someone who is constantly unhappy, bring happiness to anyone else? We know that we should constantly look up to our beloved messenger to see how we should be living our lives, so let us take a moment and ponder: · The Prophet said “When
n a a d a Ram rak Muba 112
you smile to your brother's face, it is charity.” · Jareer Ibn Abdullah said, “I have not seen the Prophet, since I embraced Islam, without a smile on his face. I saw him smiling when he could not see me and he was smiling in my presence.” · Abdullaah Ibn Haarith said, “I never came across a person who smiled as much as the Prophet. The Prophet regarded smiling with a brother as an act of charity.”Now, we know that this religion is a religion of truthfulness not hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is a discrepancy between the inner and the outer. Truthfulness, on the other hand, is inner and outer harmony. Thus in seeing that our beloved constantly smiled and encouraged us to do the same, we know that he is asking us to exercise more than simply our facial muscles. He wants our hearts to smile. When our hearts smile, so much more happens than
simply curled lips. Through a smile that comes from the heart, happiness is spread. Through a smile that comes from the heart, many pains can be forgotten. This religion wasn't sent down to us to make us robotic and cold. Rather it was sent down as a benefit to us, a benefit to those around us, and to liven our cold hearts and encourage happy hearts. And when one's heart is happy, so many of the tasks we deem difficult or stressful begin to become easy and fruitful. So next time you find yourself slipping into a downward slope of sadness, stop. Close your eyes, and imagine his face. Imagine his beautiful eyes and his soft skin. And once you have done that, imagine his beautiful heartfelt smile. Open your eyes, and rather than focusing on the dreary side of things, pick out smileworthy things that are right before your eyes. And be happy, genuinely happy. It's Sunnah!

LEGAL
DIVORCE: KNOW YOUR RIGHTS
I
f your marriage has broken down and divorce is an inevitable reality, it's best to consult a good divorce attorney who will guide you through this difficult 'emotional rollercoaster' time. Your attorney would advise you on all the options available to you thereby allowing you to make proper and informed decisions on the way forward. Prior to the enactment of the Divorce Act 1979, it was necessary to prove 'fault' before you could get divorced. The grounds for divorce were desertion, adultery or insanity. Today we have the “no-fault” divorce system. This means that you do not need to allege any fault on the path of your spouse. You simply need to inform the court that the marriage has irretrievably broken down and that there are no reasonable prospects of the restoration of normal marriage relationship between you and your spouse. Your attorney would also advise you on how the division of assets in the marriage will be done (depending on what type of marital regime is in place). The decision on which parent would provide the primary residence for any minor children would need to be examined. You should also be made
aware of what criteria our courts look at when making such an award. Issues such as access and contact rights for the parent who is not given primary residency of the children would also be dealt with. Joint custody, where both parents share custody of the minor children, could also be explored. Maintenance, both spousal and children is another aspect which needs to be canvassed. In addition to the High Court of South Africa, the Regional Court, which is a division of the Magistrates Court, is also allowed to hear divorce actions. The divorce process starts with the issue of summons. The spouse who initiates the divorce proceedings is referred to as the plaintiff and the spouse on whom the summons is being served is referred to as the defendant. The divorce summons must served by the sheriff of the court. The sheriff is required to effect 'personal service' on the defendant. The sheriff is not allowed for example to hand the divorce summons to any other person who happens to be at the address at the time of service, nor is he allowed to affix the summons to the door, as he is allowed to do in when serving any other legal notices or processes. Once the sheriff has established the identity of the defendant, he will hand a copy of the summons to the
defendant and return the original back to the plaintiff's attorneys. Consequently the defendant has no choice as to whether or not to accept the divorce summons. The sheriff will then prepare a report called a return of service, in which he will record the details of the service he effected. If the defendant was not at the address at the time the sheriff attempted service, the sheriff would submit a “return of non-service”. The summons will have to be re-served at a later time. It's not a good idea to deliberately avoid service of the summons as it would unnecessarily add to the overall costs of the divorce. This is because the sheriff would charge a fee for his service, whether he was able to effect personal service or not. Attached to the divorce summons is a document called a “particulars of claim”. This document tells the court who the parties are and sets out details of the date and type of marital regime which the couple concluded when they got married, details of the minor children, where the children will reside, how much maintenance is being claimed and which parent will pay the maintenance. It will indicate how the division of assets must be dealt with on divorce. Assets include pension fund benefits, investments, shares, endowment policies,
immovable properties, motor vehicles, jewellery and all other assets in the estate of you and your spouse. If there are minor children involved, a copy of the summons must also be sent to the office of the family advocate. The family advocate would be required to also provide input insofar as the care and contact arrangements of the minor children is concerned. This is done by way of a report complied by the family advocate. The criteria used by the court and office of the family advocate is “what is in the children's best interest”. The court will generally accept the recommendation made in the family advocate's report.

HOW TO CAPITALIZE FULLY ON RAMADAAN 13. Cease the opportunity of being in Ramadaan and spend it with the good that has been revealed in it - by reciting the noble Qur'aan and pondering and reflection of its meanings so that it be a proof for you with your Lord and an intercessor for you on the Day of Reckoning. Throughout your day busy yourself with the zikr of Allah Ta'ala. This requires minimum effort from your part so instead of futile talk with colleagues utilise the time in that which would yield great and immeasurable rewards. 14. Guard your tongue from lying, cursing, backbiting and slander for it decreases the reward of fasting. Allah Ta'ala does not need such a fast from you. 15. Do not let the pangs of hunger make you fly of the handle with your staff, family members etc. Remember that every difficulty borne with patience and perseverance is for Allah Ta'ala. He is AllKnowing and All-Seeing. Your
sabr is surely acknowledged by Him and for that you are sure to earn immense rewards. 16. Exert yourself in Ibaadah even more in the last ten nights of Ramadaan. Immeasurably fortunate you would be where you to attain Laylatul-Qadr. A minimum of 83 years of Ibaadah would be credited to you. Don't let this opportunity pass you on account of laziness. 17. Upon completion of fasting, be in a state of taqwa of Allah the Most High, being aware of Allah watching you in secret and in public, in thankfulness for His favours, and steadfastness upon obedience of Allah by doing all what He has ordered and shunning all that He has prohibited. 18. Increase in remembrance of Allah, seeking of forgiveness, asking for Paradise and protection against the Fire, especially when fasting, while breaking the fast and during suhoor, for these actions are
among the greatest causes of attaining Allah's forgiveness. 19. Increase in supplication for yourself, your parents, your children and Muslims, for Allah has ordered making of supplications and has guaranteed acceptance. 20. At the time of Iftaar, grab the opportunity of making Duaa for the duaa of a fasting person is never rejected by Allah Ta'ala. 21. Repent to Allah with a sincere repentance in all times by leaving sins, regretting those that you have done before and firmly deciding not to return to them in the future, for Allah accepts repentance of those who repent. 22. Fast six days of Shawwal, for whoever fasts Ramadaan and then follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if he has fasted the entire year. O Allah, make us and all
Muslims of those who fast and stand in prayer during the month of Ramadaan based on firm belief and truly seeking Your reward so that we are forgiven our past and future sins. O Allah, make us of those who fasted the month, attained full reward, witnessed LayatulQadr and attained success. O Allah, verily you are the Forgiver, like to forgive, so forgive us. O Allah, accept from us, verily you are the All-Hearing, all-Seeing, O Living, O Independent, O Owner of all majesty and honour. O Allah and most important let this Ramadaan be the turning point in our lives. Let us use it as a reformation of ourselves till the next Ramadaan. All Praises are due to Allah for His countless and innumerable blessings. Durood and Salawaat be upon our august and blessed Master Sayyidina Muhammad (S.A.W.), his family, his companions and all those who thread in his footsteps till the Day of Qiyaamah, Aameen Yaa Rabbal Aa Lameen.

RAMADAAN IS THE PERFECT TIME TO LOSE WEIGHT We just need to change our eating and to change our mindset. Allah Ta'ala in His infinite mercy has given us an opportunity to detox our bodies annually. If we just stop for a few moments and take a closer look at this, we will realize that this is indeed a boon, granted to us, the believers. If we stay true to the intended purpose of Ramadaan we will see its true benefit Insha Allah. There is no compulsion to prepare special foods in Ramadaan nor is there any specific advice given in the Holy Quraan or in any Hadith about what foods to eat except that we are encouraged to eat
122
dates (Kajoor) and to partake of suhoor. Kajoor is the only fruit that is higher in glucose than it is in fructose which makes one kajoor extremely energy dense. This means that just one kajoor at Iftar is sufficient. There are many who eat kajoor abundantly in Ramadaan and cite this as a Sunnah. My concern is, do we honestly think that our beloved Nabi (saw) ate kajoor in abundance then went on to consume samoosas, pies, haleem, a full meal and ended the night with falooda? In our attempt to find foods that are quick and convenient to eat in Ramadaan, we end up choosing foods that are calorie dense and nutritionally poor. That is why some people gain
weight in Ramadaan while others end up feeling sluggish and tired and bloated. Let's start a Ramadaan Revolution where we prepare for the month by looking at ourselves in the mirror and asking "how can I be a better person" and "how can I become closer to Allah " instead of filling our freezers with savories and researching new recipes for afterTaraweeh desserts. Let's focus on helping the needy and devoting our kitchen time to increasing Qur'an recitation. Keeping our eating similar to what we do on a normal day, just without lunch, is the perfect detox and even weight loss solution. We will have more
energy to fulfill our normal daily activities and Taraweeh will become easier too. The best thing about not over indulging during Ramadaan is that we will have earned the right to indulge on Eid Day. Isn't that the point of Eid ? To celebrate after a month of abstinence ? May Allah grant us all the guidance to eat better, feel better, act better and to DO better Insha Allah

ARE YOU LISTENTING?
A
re you listening to your BODY when it TALKS to you?
Did you know your body has a natural ability to communicate with itself when problems arise? You experience this on a regular basis. If you injure your elbow, it swells up with nutrient- enriched blood to start the repair process, also the swelling hampers movement. If you eat something that doesn’t agree with you, your stomach will definitely let you know through diarrhea or nausea. However we all experience everyday stress, be it in body, mind or spirit. In fact, it’s the number one cause of dis-eases in the world because it causes the natural communication lines in the body to break down. When the body forgets how to communicate with itself appropriately: injury, illness and pain occur which inhibits the
body to heal efficiently. The BodyTalk System “facilitates” the body's natural communication, synchronization and balancing processes, by reestablishing appropriate communication between the various parts of the body, thereby bringing back the "TALK" to your "BODY". The body is then capable of healing itself rapidly and effectively. Like an onion, if the concern is at the core, there are layers that have been placed around. BodyTalk can over time help to identify and peel off these layers getting to the core issues, instead of working on the symptoms only. This is the breakthrough in cutting edge energy medicine. By using neuromuscular feedback, information is retrieved from the bodies’ energy field. This allows us to focus on the priorities in the body and not just the symptoms that we experience on a day to day basis. For instance, asthma may have emotional tendencies like" the world is too dangerous" which
BODYTALK
then causes restricted breathing. Eczema is just another way the body releases a memory or an emotion through the skin. Epigenetics allows us to understand the impact that thoughts have at cellular level. We then adress and remove the emotional factors and the symptoms disappear. BodyTalk addresses issues on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, as well as plays a key role in health maintenance and dis- ease prevention. While BodyTalk does not diagnose or treat specific ailments, clinical experience has shown that once a persons overall system is
balanced through BodyTalk, clients exhibit significant improvement in the following areas: Weight Loss, Fertility, Reproductive disorders, learning disorders, Depression, Allergies, Phobias, Viruses, Back/Body Pain, Digestive issues, Migraines, Chronic Fatigue, Endocrine Dysfunctions, Arthritis, Sports Injuries, Emotional Disorders and Dyslexia... Just a few symptoms that BodyTalk targets and helps to improve.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF BANANAS
“
And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! Amid thorn less lote-trees, and banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. And extended shade, and water flowing constantly, and abundant fruit...” [alWaq'iah; 56: 27-3] “The expression 'going bananas' is from the good effects bananas have on the brain. They contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.” Bananas contain three natural sugars sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fibre. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier. PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Anaemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anaemia. Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration have just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke. Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school (England) were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can
assist learning by making pupils more alert. Constipation: High in fibre, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives. Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief. Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness. Mosquito bites: Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation. Ulcers: The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach. Temperature control: Many other cultures see bananas as a 'cooling' fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant
women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan. Stress: Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels... These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack. Strokes: According to research in The New England Journal of Medicine, eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by strokes by as much as 40%! Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system. Quit Smoking: Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

HEALTH
EAT WELL, KEEP WELL IS WELLNESS ON YOUR MENU THIS RAMADAAN? Just as fasting increases ones spirituality it should also enable us to be more in tune or “in sync” with our body's needs. Remember first and foremost that fasting is a form of cleansing, a purification of the mind, body and soul. That translates primarily into increasing ones spirituality, and secondly highlights the need for the body to recuperate physically from 11 months of consistent eating. Surely we can eat for our bodies needs, rather than our own for just one month in the year? BE MINDFUL ABOUT YOUR MENU… The most important thing is to eat a well balanced, small to medium sized meal. Or divide your meal by having another small meal roughly 2 to 3 hours later. This allows the digestive system to cope better, to digest and absorb nutrients efficiently, as opposed to the sudden overload of one large overindulgent meal. This helps to maintain a more constant metabolic rate over several hours and also prevents a sudden rise and fall of
Blood Glucose levels. WELL BALANCED MEALS… Ideally your meal should have as little fat as possible because fat is readily stored by the body when one fasts. Carbs are necessary when fasting but should be limited to 1 portion preferably at Suhoor and not Iftaar. Chicken and fish are better options than red meat which needs several hours to be digested fully and is thus not ideal. Vegetables are light , nutritious and easily digested, as are fruits which should be eaten at room temperature at the beginning of the meal and not at the end. This is because fruits tend to swell in the abdomen and hinder digestion. Minimal Diary is allowed because it is valuable when fasting for its cooling effect on the system, but also tends to stimulate the production of mucus which easily translates to congestion within the body. ENERGY… Keep up your energy levels by being rigid with Multivitamins. A good supplement will have higher doses of Vitamins and Minerals. Although it might
cost a little extra, it really does go a long way in helping you keep your energy levels and micronutrient needs in check during Ramadaan. Some combinations have Caffeine that provides just the right amount of added energy when fasting. Remember to opt for warm foods and drinks so that your body doesn't need to waste valuable energy warming cold food during digestion. This is also significant when fasting in winter to prevent one falling ill. IMMUNE BOOSTERS… You can actively help your body maintain better immunity throughout Ramadaan. Fasting and Winter in combination is great when you consider the shorter hours but not that good when you consider your wellness and immunity. With the drop in temperatures and decrease in nutrition, our levels of immunity tend to drop proportionately. Although a supplement will help with this it might not provide everything your body needs to fight off infection. Simple herbal supplements like Echinacea or Olive leaf are tried and tested ways of increasing immunity. And if that
doesn't work there are numerous other combinations that can. REMEMBER… It takes roughly 20 minutes for your body to register the feeling of satiety so DON'T eat until you're full because this means you have eaten too much and the lethargy that follows is proof. Pay attention to the warning signals, and take action. If a particular food you've eaten upsets you do without it. Fasting is challenging for each and every one of us and our bodies cope very differently. What works for others might not work for you. Figure out what works for your body and sick to it. Put your “wants” aside and do what your body “needs”. Focus on curbing desires and doing what's necessary this Ramadaan to enhance yourself physically and spiritually.

ESAALE SAWAAB To put simply, Esaal e Sawab is nothing other than to ask Allah for the forgiveness of our sins, and to raise the spiritual status of the deceased. This may be achieved through various practices, such as the offering of du'as [supplications], to recite the Qur'an, to offer Qurbani [at Eid al Adha], and also, to perform a compulsory Hajj [fard] on the behalf of the deceased. In this article we will seek to demonstrate, Insha Allah, by using the Qur'an and the Sunnah as evidence, and we shall indeed discover that this is not an innovative practice [bid'a], but something that has been practiced by Muslims throughout the centuries, and secondly, which is permissible. Evidence from the Qur'an Allah (SWT) has ordered the Muslims (believers) that you pray for your parents as follows: O' My Lord [Allah (Almighty], have mercy on my parents like they have brought me up through my childhood. Allah (Swt) has praised those Muslims who ask for forgiveness of the deceased. They ask for forgiveness in the following manner: O' Allah (Almighty) forgive us and forgive our Muslim brothers and sisters who have passed away. (Surah Hashir, Verse 10) The above mentioned verses demonstrate that if anyone prays on behalf of another person, the latter will receive the [spiritual] benefits - Allah Willing. This also demonstrates that if it was the wrong action Allah would not have ordered us to pray for other people, nor would He have stated that those who ask for forgiveness for the deceased receive praises from Allah.
141
Evidence from the Sunnah Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim write that: A man came to the Prophet Muhammad [May Allah bless Him and grant Him peace] and said 'My mother has suddenly died and she did not leave any will, but I suspect that if she did that then she would have told me to give something to charity. Now if I offer something in charity on her behalf, will she get the reward?' Prophet Muhammad [Saw] said 'Yes'. Then the man said that I make you, the Prophet (saw), as my witness, that I offer my garden full of fruits to charity. (Bukhari Muslim, Chapter Al-Wasiha) This hadith, as can be clearly read, proves that to offer a charity on behalf of the deceased will result in the deceased obtaining a benefit. Imam Bukhari writes that: Prophet Muhammad [Saw] has said, The status of the deceased is raised (during their time in the grave), and the
deceased ask Allah (Swt) why has this happened, Allah (Swt) replies that your son has prayed for your forgiveness. (Al-Adab, Al-Mufid Chapter Excellency of the Parents by Imam Bukhari) From this particular hadith, it can be understood that not only charity, but the offering of prayers (making duas) and the giving of alms, will also benefit the deceased. Origins and Development The origin of Esaal-e-Swab is in the Qur'an but it is carried out in different manner in different communities. For example, to preach Islam to invite others to the Deen is proven but the methods are different for different situations. For example Islamic circles are held on Saturday's or Sunday's by some but it is not mentioned in the Qur'an or Hadith that they should be held on these evenings. In the same way, the origin of Esaal-e-Swab is in the Qur'an and Hadith and to call it an innovation is not right. 1) When a person dies, Muslims offer Alms, “Sadaqa, on his behalf and
pray in congregation. In these gatherings Islamic teachings are preached; this serves as a way to preach or spread Islam. Through these gatherings, the deceased receive benefit because Muslims pray for his/her forgiveness and others get knowledge of Islam. The poor get benefit from these Alms or charity. As you can see if you look at it from any angle, it is not an innovation. There is a prayer (Du'a) said for the deceased. We can give charity for them, keep fast for them and also we can get together and read Qur'an for them. For the people who get together and read Qur'an, we could be hospitable by providing for them by giving food and drink. This is all done with the intention of Sawab (blessings). For example, when Islamic circles are held, there are usually refreshments held after and this is carried out with the intention of blessings. This is one way of doing Esal-eSawab.
There are many other ways of doing Esal-eSawab and Almighty Allah knows best.
For the Esaale Sawaab of the late Ahmed Essa Ayob, late Ayob Essa, all Murhooms and Murhoomeens.

FACT
QADAA AND KAFFAARAH EXPLAINED
L
et's say you walk into a store and mistakenly break something. The store owner requests you to replace the broken item. This can be termed as Qadaa where you replace the broken fast. Kafaarah will be when you are required to not only replace the broken item, but in addition to that you are required to pay a hefty penalty for your negligence. i.e. You pay back the broken fast and furthermore you fast 60 days consecutively for your negligence. This is what Kafaarah means. Actions that make ONLY Qadaa waajib? (1) If anybody puts something by force into the mouth of one who is fasting and such a thing goes down the throat. (2) One has the intention of fasting, but unintentionally water goes down the throat while gargling. (3) One vomits and then intentionally returns it down the
throat. (4) Vomiting a mouthful intentionally. (5) Intentionally swallowing a pebble, piece of stone, seed-nut, mud, or a piece of paper. (6) Swallowing something edible, equal to or bigger than a grain of rice which remained in between the teeth, by pushing it with the tongue. But if it is first taken out of the mouth and then swallowed, then whatever the size, kaffaarah becomes waajib. (7) Putting oil in the ear. (8) To put snuff in the nostrils (9) Swallowing blood which comes from the gums, if the quantity of this blood is more than the saliva with which it is mixed. (10) Eating something unintentionally, then thinking that the fast is broken and then intentionally eating or drinking more. (11) To have sehri thinking that it is not yet subh saadiq and learning later on that it was morning already. (12) Knowingly breaking the fast in other than the days of Ramadaan.
(13) To break the fast before the sunset, mistaking a cloudy or dusty sky for sunset. Each of these things make qadaa of the fast waajib. Actions that make both qadaa and kaffaarah waajib? During the fasts of Ramadaan (1) Eating or drinking intentionally something which is used as medicine, food, or is taken for pleasure. (2) Having sexual intercourse intentionally. (3) Putting antimony into the eyes or having one's vein punctured and then eating intentionally, thinking that the fast has already been broken. In all these conditions, qadaa and kaffaarah are both waajib. Kaffaarah Defined The kaffaarah is to keeping fast daily continuously for two months. If one does not have the strength to keep fasts for two months, he or she must feed 60 poor people to their fill twice a
CLINICAL
day, or give each of the 60 poor people 1.6kg's. of wheat or pay its equal price, or give rice, corn, etc. of the same amount. Q. Is it allowed to give the food grains of 60 poor people, which will be approximately 9.6kg's. of wheat, to only one person? A. It is allowed if one person is given 1.6kg's. of wheat every day, or he is fed twice a day for 60 days. But if he is given each day more than what is to be given to him, by cash or in kind, then only the required quantity will be counted to the kaffaarah and not the surplus. Q. Is it allowed if one deserving person is given less than 1.6kg's? A. No, it is not allowed to give less or more than 1.6kg's of wheat in kaffaarah as one day's quantity of food grains to a poor person. NOTE: The equivalent of 1.6kg's of wheat currently is the amount of Sadaqatul-Fitr which is approximately R15-00.

INSPIRATIONAL
CHECKPOINTS OF FAITH WHERE DO YOU STAND?
Craving attention and appreciation from the right place this time, I remembered reading somewhere that the angels witness morning recitation. I gently flipped through the pages of my Qur'an and started recitation from where I left off but it wasn't long until I felt my voice crack and eyes blur. I was crying…again! I embraced the Qur'an open and wept silently till the dawn. Exhausted, I carefully placed The Holy Qur'an on the table in front of me, took a deep breath and began recitation again. “And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, 'Indeed, we are to be overtaken!' [Moses] said, 'No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me.'” (Qur'an 26:61-62) I paused and reflected. It wasn't the first time I had heard this story but like the new dawn, that day, it brought a whole new meaning into my life. Standing in front of the Red Sea, Musa `alayhi as-salam (peace be upon him) had nowhere to go; I too had nowhere to go. But Prophet Musa's unwavering faith in the face of such great difficulty touched the depths of my heart and I finally realized why Allah subhanahu wa ta`ala (exalted is He) narrates His miracles to us. Prophets were people like us. Allah chose them to deliver His message and through them, the Almighty is enlightening us of how to believe in Him. Allah (swt) has a plan for us, and sometimes what we are most afraid of is what happens. We find ourselves asking, “Why me?” These emotions of utter despair and hopelessness swamp all aspects of our lives
and it becomes almost impossible to keep any hope. Take a moment and reflect. Don't be afraid, for this is merely a test, a test of your faith. Prophet Musa (as) stood firm in front of the Red Sea and without a doubt believed Allah will make a way, and so He did. These extraordinary stories from the Qur'an are

Calamari with Garlic Mayonnaise Ingredients for the calamari · 250 ml groundnut oil (or as needed depending on size of pan) · 500 grams frozen squid (tubes and tentacles) · 2 tablespoons cornflour · 4 tablespoons semolina · 2 teaspoons Old Bay seasoning (or use 1 teaspoon salt & 1 teaspoon Paprika) for the garlic mayonnaise · ½ clove garlic · 100 grams best-quality mayonnaise (preferably organic) Method 1. Heat the oil in a smallish saucepan and, while it's left to warm up, cut the thawed squid into 1cm/half inch rings. 2. Put the cornflour, semolina and seasoning into a plastic freezer bag. 3. Add the squid rings and tentacles and then toss to coat. 4. When the oil is hot enough, which is when it sizzles up fiercely when you drop in a small cube of bread, fry the squid in batches to get the most golden crunchiness. A couple of minutes per batch is all you should need. 5. Grate or crush the garlic into the mayonnaise, stir to mix, and then serve alongside the fried squid.

ETIQUETTE WHILST READING THE HOLY QUR'AAN
Y
es! Dear readers! Ramadaan is such a Blessed month in which the Holy Qur'aan is recited much more than any other Islamic month. And the Holy Qur'aan being the Most Holy and sacred Book of Guidance is no doubt to be treated with respect, honour and dignity. Subhaan-Allah (azza wajal), the Shariah has prescribed a set of etiquettes with regards to the touching and the recitation of this wonderfully Miraculous and Sacred Book which was revealed from the advent of Islaam and which is safeguarded by Allah (azza wajal) Himself from any additions and changes by human beings till the Day of Qiyaamah (Resurrection / Judgement). One should understand the magnificent nature of the Holy Qur'aan. This is a divine gift from Allah (azza wajal) and a tremendous favour. One should bring to mind the favour of Allah (azza wajal)
and be thankful. Bring to mind the magnification of one who is addressing us. The reciter will then remain conscious of the fact that this Book is the Speech of Allah (azza wajal). So when one recites it, it is not like reciting any other book, but rather it is reciting the Speech of Allah (azza wajal). We should ponder over the verses - but how? Recite it according to the sunnah, i.e.: in a slow, measured and distinct manner. Even it is stated in the Qur'aan in Surah Muzammil (13): Verse 4, “And recite the Qur'aan in slow measured rhythmic tones.” This means that we should not recite the Qur'aan hastily nor should we 'sing' it but that we should read it as taught to us by our Beloved Prophet(Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) and that is: correctly, with all its proper stops , pauses, duration of lengthening and shortening the sounds of the signs and with the correct pronunciation. Also, in Surah 2
(Baqarah): Verse 121, it is stated: “Those to whom we have sent the Book study it as it should be studied.” This means that Allah (azza wajal) has sent the Qur'aan to the Muslims as a blessing and therefore we must make the effort to learn and practice not only the messages therein but also learn how to read it correctly. By doing this we shall be respecting this Beautiful Book of Guidance. In a Hadith Shareef it is said: “Recite the Qur'aan for verily Allah will reward the reciter ten folds for every letter. As for me, Alif is a letter, Laam is a letter and meem is a letter.” In yet another Hadith Shareef it is reported to have said that: “Beautify the recitation of the Qur'aan with your rhythmic voice.” Allama Jazri (Rahmatullah 'alaih) says: “One who does not recite the Qur'aan with Tajweed is a sinner.” Tajweed helps in inward reflection. Seek to understand the meanings in the linguistic sense –
study a translation if you do not know Arabic, and the deeper meanings found in tafseers and with reflection. Remove obstacles in understanding the Qur'aan like: Being overly concerned with outward recitation (this is one of the tricks of Shaitaan to turn you away from reflecting on the meanings). Find a middle path. Do not superimpose your ideas/perspectives/beliefs on the guidance of the Qur'aan, for example, if someone is a feminist, socialist, economist then reading the Qur'aan according to his or her own perspective will prevent the true spiritual benefit from the Qur'aan. Be careful of sinning both inwardly and outwardly. Sin creates darkness in the soul and clouds the mirror of the heart, so it does not reflect the light of divine guidance. Take everything in the Qur'aan as guidance for yourself because it is for all creation.

ISLAMIC VALUES SAME AS OTHER RELIGIONS?
S
ome people allege that all religions teach the same basic values such as refraining from lying, stealing, defrauding, abusing others etc. So, what is so different about Islam. There are major differences between Islam and other religions. All religions basically exhort mankind to be righteous and shun evil, but Islam goes beyond that. It guides us towards practical ways of achieving righteousness and eliminating evil from our individual and collective lives. Islam takes into account human nature and the complexities of human society. Islam is guidance from the Creator Himself; therefore, Islam is also called the Deenul-Fitrah (the natural religion of Man). 1. Islam prescribes Zakat (obligatory wealth tax): Islam prescribes a system of Zakat (Islamic Wealth Tax). Every person who has net wealth (excluding certain items) that exceeds the 'nisab' level (as supplied by the Jamiat), should give 2.5% of that wealth every lunar year in charity. If every rich person in the world gave the proper amount of Zakat sincerely, poverty will be eradicated from this world. 2. Islam prescribes a method of eliminating theft & robbery: All major religions instruct that theft is an evil act. Islam teaches the same. The difference lies in the fact that besides teaching that robbing is evil and should be shunned, Islam shows practical ways of creating a social structure in which people will not rob and live in a safe environment. Islam prescribes chopping off the hands of the convicted robber. The Glorious Qur'an says in Surah Maidah: “As to the thief, male or female, cut off his or her hands: a punishment by way of example, from Allah, for their crime: and Allah is Exalted in power, full of
168
wisdom.” (Al-Qur'aan 5:38) 3. Islam prohibits the molestation and rape of women. It enjoins hijab in dressing and prescribes capital punishment for a convicted rapist, and prescribes a method of eliminating molestation and rape. Islam teaches modesty in dressing and specifies the minimum coverage of the body for both men and women. This in itself is a deterrent. Islam does not allow display of semi-naked women either live or in advertisements or any other forms. Islam prohibits the free intermingling of the sexes, males and females in seclusion, courting etc. This practice is also a deterrent from molestation and rape of women. Statistics reveal that a majority of women are raped by known and “trusted” persons. 4. Islam has Practical Solutions for the Problems of Mankind “O mankind, surely We have created you from a male and a female, and made you tribes and families that you may know each other. Surely the noblest of you with Allah is the most dutiful of you. Surely Allah is Knowing, Aware”. Qur'an Chap 49 v. 13 The principle of the brotherhood laid down here is on the broadest basis. The address here is not to believers, but to human kind in general, who are told that they are all members of one family, and their divisions into nations, tribes and families should not lead to estrangement from, but to a better knowledge of, each other. Superiority of one over another in this vast brotherhood does not depend on nationality, wealth, or rank, but on the careful observance of duty, or moral greatness. 5. Islam bans consumption of liquor and all forms of intoxicants. We observe on a regular basis the behaviour of persons who had
“too much to drink” or who are intoxicated by drugs. This has led to assault, murders, spouse abuse and many violent crimes. It is a recorded fact that more than 50% of road accidents in South Africa are alcohol related. The urge to consume addictive drugs often leads to crime to obtain funds to acquire these drugs on a regular basis. 6. Islam prohibits interest. The Qur'an says: “O believers, fear Allah (swt) and give up the interest that remains outstanding if you are believers.” 2:278 There are no less than 7 verses in the Qur'an that prohibit interest and there are several ahadith that not only prohibit interest but also point out the harms of interest. Interest leads to exploitation of the recipient of the loan and the situation is aggravated by the compound interest concept. At a national level, the higher the annual interest payments by the Government, the lower the economic growth rate of a country. This is ironical as the country borrows money to promote development and growth whilst the interest payment retards that growth. 7. Gambling is also a prohibited activity in Islam. Usually winnings from gambling tend to disappear very quickly. Many people become addictive to gambling and this results in very serious social implications. The family is neglected and often monies spent on gambling causes financial hardship in the family network. 8. Honesty Recently a nursing aid was awarded an Honesty certificate at Northdale Hospital in Pietermaritzburg simply because she found over R45 000 on a deceased's body and returned these funds to the family. Imagine you get a prize for being honest. In Islam honesty is the norm and it is one of the cardinal teachings of Islam. In Islam if you are dishonest you subject yourself to punishment. Tobie Allen, a British citizen has this to say about the Islamic lifestyle “I now live in an Arab country based on Islamic principles, religion & culture. I hear the call
to prayer 5 times a day. I can't drink in public, I can't watch sexual material, I can't kiss in public. I come from the UK & I'm proud of it - a first world country. We were programmed by the media that the middle- eastern way of living doesn't fit the mould of our supposedly perfect way of life. I come from a country where I get free health care, free benefits, free housing, and supposedly a tolerant country with freedom of speech. I have lived in this supposedly oppressive society for 9 weeks & this is what I have experienced. I have not heard a single police siren rushing to a crime scene, I have not seen a single fight between people, I have not seen a single drunk person in the street or a single drunk person smashing beer or wine bottles in the street. My kids go to school alone without any adult to ensure their safety. Any of my kids can go to the shop alone even at 2 or 3am in the morning. I see kindness of humanity on a daily basis. I can leave a mobile phone in an unlocked car, come back after a few hours & still get my phone in the car. If you forget it in a cab or taxi they will find out where you live & return it. People say hello to me in the lift & you see that they mean it. I get a good morning from random people in the queue at the Mall & they wish me peace & God's blessings throughout the day. I leave my front door open throughout the day, even at night when sleeping. I see people with smiles on their faces on a daily basis with not one being drunk or drugged. If these supposedly oppressive third world Islamic rules create a society tolerant of others round them & create kindness & happiness then to be quite frank I sort of like Islam. My heart is from my birth place & my beliefs will remain the same but should we really believe everything in the media till we've experienced it ourselves. Today I know where my soul is happier. We should really think & experience before we condemn others.” This is a non- Muslim relating his experiences in an Islamic environment.

Fidya (compensation) Fidya refers to the compensation that Islaam allows to those who cannot fast in the month of Ramadaan and even after Ramadaan.
Mustahabbaat (Preferable acts) of Fasting
Those who are exempted from fasting in Ramadaan and allowed to pay fidya are the following: 1. Those who are very old and have no strength to fast in Ramadaan or even out of Ramadaan. 2. Those who are permanently ill and have no hope of recovery even after Ramadaan. These are usually people who are also on chronic
medication. Fidya can be paid through food items or even cash. If paid in cash then the current rate of Sadaqatul Fitr should be paid for each fast missed. NOTE: Fidya is not an option for those who are temporarily ill or exempted from fasting in Ramadaan. They should make up for the missed fasts after Ramadaan by practically fasting. TAKE NOTE: 1. If in the month of Ramadan after starting the fast for the day one deliberately breaks it without a valid reason with something edible or drinkable, then along with qadaa, they must also give a penalty of continuous fasting for 2 months after Ramadan. This is known as “kaffarah. 2. In the month Ramadan, if a fast breaks for some reason, one should still abstain from eating or drinking until sunset. However if a fast was not kept in the first place due to a valid reason, then eating and drinking throughout the day is allowed but preferably secretly. This is on account of respect for the month of Ramadaan and for those who may be fasting.

FACT
THE TREACHEROUS WOMAN
F
rom the old man who hobbles away with his walking stick right up to the little child who barely understands, almost everyone is enamored and taken aback by the beautifications, ornaments and adornments of the world. This is quite evident from the way the world has become today-totally materialistic! However, in reality the world is like a deceitful and treacherous woman. It adorns itself for its admirers but, when they have become obsessed with it and have become saturated with its love, it betrays them and shatters their dreams and plans. It bewitches them with all its enchantments and once they are gripped in its snares, it gives them a dose of its fatal
178
poison. It is an enemy to Allah Ta'ala and an enemy to His friends and foes alike. It is an enemy to Allah Ta'ala simply because it comes in between those who want to traverse on His path. It is an enemy to the friends of Allah Ta'ala for even though they have forsaken it, it is not relentless in trying to lure them once again to its attractions. With regards to Allah Ta'ala's enemies it deceives them with its treacherous pranks and when they begin to trust its friendship and totally abandon Allah Ta'ala, it suddenly forsakes them when they need it the most. It leaves them totally dejected and forlorn. Such are the charms and lures of the world. The Qur'aan and Hadeeth of our beloved Prophet (S.A.W.) are brimming with warnings of the treachery of the world, but sadly the more we are exhorted to shun the world and focus on the hereafter, the more we allow ourselves to be caught in
its snares. Allah Ta'ala has made the world for us, but WE have been created with a much nobler objective i.e. serving Him. Our Beloved Prophet (S.A.W.) is reported to have said, “The world has been created for you but you have been created for the Hereafter. We've heard this hadeeth many a times but very few of us have understood it. When it comes to acquiring worldly benefits there's no limit to our efforts. We toil from dawn to dusk, tirelessly and unwaveringly just so that we can secure a 'little' more.-it's called the rat race of the human race which we all have become an indispensable part of. And this endless cycle continues without any signs of relenting, just like a never ending story. But someday, sometime and somewhere, this madness will have to end. When it ends, it will bring to
the fore the harsh truth that all our efforts for the material objects of the world were just a waste of good and valuable time. When the Angel of Death will stand before us only then will the realization and truth of these words dawn upon us-but then Alas! It would be a tad too late for regrets and remorse. They say You can't cry over spilt milk, but why spill the milk in the first place. After all it's not like you have not been warned about spilling the milk and the consequences that will follow. May Allah Ta'ala in His infinite and Absolute grace and mercy guide us and take us away from straying from His path and put us once again on the path where our focus will be entirely on the hereafter which undoubtedly has beauty and adornments that is everlasting and not temporary like this world. Aameen.
