Before the entire world shut down in early 2020 due to the pandemic, tourism had become one of the world's largest industries. People from all different backgrounds, imbibed with different aspirations and satiated with the utmost eagerness to go beyond the comforts of their safe havens, have resorted to traveling as a means to better understand the world around them and to explore the many facets of their inner being.
For his first solo exhibition, Vernon Huibonhoa invites his viewers to his excursions. These leisure trips are visually translated through the compelling art of photography, effectively becoming his personal musings. Equipped with his Canon Rebel T5i, these images were taken from Huibonhoa's travels around the United States, Japan, and breathtaking Bali in Indonesia.
Photographed in a span of approximately five years, Huibonhoa characterizes these images as either striking art pieces or picturesque sceneries that have piqued his curiosity and resonated with him.
For Huibonhoa, being at a particular place at the right time enables one to capture a fleeting moment that, in turn, resonates with the viewer, essentially transporting them to a different world that is satisfyingly gripping and devoid of the limitations of time and space.
Worth mentioning in this debut exhibition are six photographs. Here, Huibonhoa captures what others may dismiss as purely mundane, but for him are some of his favorite photos because of the inner tranquility they emanate, engendering a solitary atmosphere in which his mind, body, and soul sublimely dance in peace and harmony. In this set of photographs, the viewers are drawn to Huibonhoa's private haven, proving that excursions are not only confined within the boundaries of exploring and experiencing places, peoples, and cultures but more so of intimately finding one's personal expression and experience of solitude.
In all these works, Huibonhoa's own way of seeing, observing, and perceiving the world around him is unveiled.

Vernon wanders the world with his camera and creates artistically inspiring works of art through photography. He captures breathtaking photographs of art pieces and picturesque sceneries with a very unique and distinctive style. From his leisure trips abroad, he effortlessly captured fleeting moments that resonate with the viewers and transport them in a different reality.
Vernon earned his degree in Political Science from the Ateneo De Manila University and he used to work in a private company as an Account Manager Executive. He was part of the Tennis varsity in High school and college. Vernon’s fondness in photography allows him to explore the people, places, and the world around him through his camera lens.
As an artist, Vernon is keen on transcending his photograph and the images he created in order to have its presence. In most of his scenic photographs, the images intently imply a world outside the limits of his lens and engage the viewer in the sheer beauty of the natural world.
His works communicate his personal haven through the images of tranquility, stillness, and peace he created with his skillful hands. What others may perceive as mundane and dreary, Vernon’s works speak to celebrating the richness of life, inviting his viewers to feel that shared emotion and experience.
