BROWNVILLE KOSAMBI A Cozy Habitable Place in a Strategic Commercial area Situated near both Bandung Golden Triangle and Kosambi Market complex, Brownville Appertement provide housing for public commerce workers as well as CEO of creative industry.

Concept

Situated in a strategic place, Brownville Kosambi offered a living place for workers and entrepreneurs alike. not only provide with the living place, this condominium also facilitate them with co-working place as well as tenants to start their business. Due to its strategic position, this appartement design also help to answer the issue of permeability, so that the less dense southern area of Malabar could connect with the more dense Kosambi on the north. Permeability of the site is undoubtly very important, as most of the southern area functioned as housing and residence, while the northern area functioned as commercial area. That is why the design very concern the permeability as part of the issue that need to answer, by creating the permeable route cramped with commercial tenants and spaces.

Main concept of the appartment is Permeability. it meant that the building can create a new pathway for pedestrians by intentional or unintentional means to reach one another. as the appartment is close to the Kosambi market, it was proposed to create a permeability to ease pedestrians

Other concept for the appartment is “homey. to create this, design should provide natural approach. so, it consists of wooden plank pathways as well as park upstairs and water feature. The facade itself follow s the rustic design, so that it use wooden planks as its base, as ell as modern touch by the glass and concretes.

Appartment can house more than 100 families, divided into three class; 48 studios, 36 double room, and 20 triple room. each has its kitchen, bathroom, running water, and electricity. Appartment itself also has a 24 hour security, with smart security (using cards as an ID), and also communal place separated from the mall beneath

KERTAJATI HAJJ HOSTEL Creating a Welcoming Gateway to the Holy Cities Located in newly constructed Kertajati West Java International Airport. Kertajati Hajj Hostel provide not only an accomodation, but also a sense of place for Hajj Pilgrims to ease themselves to prepare themselves to praise the god

Concept With the completion of the construction and improvement of supporting facilities for the Hajj pilgrimage, especially facilities directly related to rites such as the Grand Mosque in Mecca which is the top priority of the Saudi Arabian government to improve the services of pilgrims in terms of quality and quantity, efforts to prepare for the departure of pilgrims by the muslim state governments like Indonesia must able to catch up with significant increase of pilgrims. Meanwhile, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia had already made plans to build a new international airport that could boost the country’s economy. With this cross of interest, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia created the West Java International Airport in the Kertajati district area, Majalengka Regency as a new embarcation for the pilgrims’ departure. To support this, a Hajj embarkation hostel was planned to support the activity, It was planned to be a hub for pilgrims all over West Java that will leave to the Holy Land via Kertajati Airport

One step to make the pilgrims mentally ready is to make the pilgrims accustomed to atmosphere of the Holy Land. Creating a distinctive Arabian atmosphere is one important thing that can give the impression and atmosphere that will be faced by pilgrims for the next forty days. The use of geometric shapes in Arabesque ornaments as well as materials such as bricks and sandstone between arches can give a different atmosphere.

The use of a particular style that is commonly used in the holy land can be a separate solution in the design of the pilgrimage hostel. This was done to address the issue of adaptation so that pilgrims could have a sense of place with the holy land. as red brick and marble will also emphasize the feel of arabesque on the interior and exterior of the building.

To attract users who want a comfortable low-cost accommodation, the hajj hostel must meet the demand by setting comfortable standards. One trend that is rife between hajj hostel throughout Indonesia lately is the setting of three-star hotel standards. This trend is beneficial for pilgrims, as well as managers Being able to give satisfaction to the services of the pilgrims with three-star standard will ease promotion in marketing this accommodation

BUJANGGA MANIK MARKET As Spirit released from the bond, the Essence released from the Spirit

Follows the ancient Sundanese Tradition of “Return to Nature, Bujangga Manik Market design gives a sense of naturality that will affect, by any means, interactions from nature to users, as well as between traders and buyers.

Concept Main concept of the design came from Ancient Sundanese Tradition, especially from local Tale of Bujangga Manik, tale of ordinary man adventures throughout his life to release himself from earthly bond to understand the essence of life. So that designer thought that design of market should follow the principles to “release ourselves from ordinary means and get back to principles of naturality that attains in the site itself. This design very concerns about the condition of site itself. by any means, design of this market very concern about form, material, and potency of the site to attain the natural condition of site itself, That is why we use green architectureprinciples that mainly shows in the facade of the building, as well as planning the system of building itself. .

Provided by “Back to Nature” principles, the market natural site with many trees was cleansed as minimum as it could. any vegetation that were outside the ground plan or the track won’t be cut away. As in fact it beautifies the sourroundings and adding the “natural feels” in the market In addition, many material of the building, especially the facade itself, use the local material such as bamboo, which is known for its sturdiness, durability, and strength as well as keeping in line in the “back to nature” concept

Layout of the market, is simple. the wet market was put in the first two floors. with the meat, poultry, dairy and spices, considering the cleanliness of most of these tenants in other markets in the world, put in the first floor. whereas local procures such as vegetables, fruits, and grains put in the second floor as the latter considered cleaner The third floor was filled with manufactured goods and processed products. such as utensils, handicrafts, and clothing. And the fourth floor consist of both foodcourt and public spaces. It purposed itself as place for gatherings and recreational, as well as luxury indulgence to enjoy the local delicious culinary experience Despite its simplicity, it has a profound meaning. as each section can be traced its pattern, from the unprocessed product into goods and crafts. it means can be traced as “from the earthly physical manifestation into spiritual realm of happiness”.
