Imperial Plastics is an injection plastic molder specializing in a variety of small to large plastic components that utilize extensive injection and structural foam molding processes. The company was founded in 1968 and has steadily grown to its current size by offering optimum value to their customers. Imperial Plastics has over 800 employees and over 800,000 square feet of space across 5 Minnesota locations; 4 locations are manufacturing plants and 1 is a global distribution center. Their locations are in Lakeville, Mankato, and Mora. In addition to Minnesota, Imperial also has a tooling office in Dongguan China. Locally, Imperial employs over 150 people in positions such as press operators, set up technicians, quality assurance advisors, material handlers, and warehouse technicians. In its assembly operations in Mankato, Imperial has also been able to employ workers from MRCI’s physically challenged and its growing refugee population.
Imperial Plastics, in its continued pattern of growth, has acquired 5 plastic injection molders since 1997. In 2012, the company acquired Rolco, Inc., in Kasota, Minnesota and opened a brand, new state of the art facility in Mankato in 2014. In 1949 Lloyd Johnson decided to build a shing reel that was “tanglefree.” Denison saw the prototype and together they made modications. The company ourished and continued to grow with the acquisition of Minn Kota Electric Fishing Motors in 1969. The Minn Kota Electric Fishing Motor was founded in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1932. It was called Minn Kota because of its proximity to the MINNesota and North DaKOTA border. Minn Kota is the oldest active manufacturer of electric shing motors in the world. Manufacturing moved from Moorhead to Mankato in 1979. In 1970 Johnson Reels and Minn Kota Electric Fishing Motors joined the Johnson family of companies located in Racine, Wisconsin. Cannon joined the business in 2005. Even today, Johnson Outdoors is still sometimes referred to as Johnson Reels locally.

Brakebush Wells produces over 100,000 pounds of fully cooked chicken nuggets, patties and strips weekly. With a second shift starting in the near future, production will double. The Brakebush facilities in Wells and Westfield specialize in further processed, fully cooked chicken for the foodservice industry including restaurants, colleges/universities, hospitals, senior living, schools and convenience stores. Brakebush Irving ships raw, individually frozen chicken llets, tenderloins and breast chunks, including product produced without antibiotics, to restaurant chains nationally. Overall, Brakebush Brothers ships products to all 50 states as well
as products going to our military overseas. Eligibility & Participation Criteria To qualify to participate you must: • Be 18 years old by January 9 • Have a HS Diploma or GED by July 1 • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S. • Take the Test of Adult Basic Education with results indicating you are not academically prepared for college • Be physically able to perform manufacturing work • Commit to attending class and completing homework each week
