Bob Kane was a comic book artist for DC comics, and Batman is not his only work. He even created Batman’s enemies; Clayface, Two-face, Penguin, Scarecrow and even the Joker. Cat Woman and Robin were also drawn by him. The all-powerful Superman, at first, became everyone’s favourite after he was created. And Batman was Bob Kane’s answer to Superman, and what an answer it was! Rad Sharar
BATMAN The Caped Crusader, Bruce Wayne, The Dark Knight, the protector of Gotham City, This superhero has many names, but we know him as Batman. Everybody loves Batman, but it is time we knew the person who drew him first over 70 years ago! His name is Bob Kane, and he was the father of one of the coolest superheroes ever made.

A Nest of Flames Suhadha Afrin
Trading Happiness An amazing bird that doesn’t lay eggs, or gives birth, the Phoenix is the bird of fire. Every few hundred years, it bursts into flames and a new Phoenix comes out from the ashes. This famous bird from Arabia was thought to live for 500 to 1,460 years. When it comes close to dying, it stops flying and builds a nest of sweet smelling
spices like cinnamon and stays there until it is born again. Bright red and golden in colour, some stories say that the new baby phoenix takes the ashes it was born in and puts it inside an egg. It then carries this to Heliopolis, an Egyptian city that worships the sun god Ra.
Every life is lived differently. Some buy toys, some sell them. These little angels sell happiness. They sell the smiles that the father has on his face when he takes the toy home to his child at night. They sell the hope that the kid feels when he is waiting at
home for the father, they sell dreams that the mother has, of a happy family night. It’s all a matter of how you think - some people may feel sorry for these children. TREEHOUSE proudly calls them “givers of joy.” Munira Fidai

You need • 1 cup salt • 1 cup flour • 1 cup water • Different food colouring • Squeeze bottles
Instructions Add one cup salt, flour, water, and a good size of food colouring into a squeeze bottle. Use different bottles for different colours and when done, squeeze the bottle to form puffy arts. When the paint dries, it will be sparkly and rough because of the added salt. If you want more of the sandpaper-y feel, try adding glitter or even sand. Sama E Deen

Fly, Fly, Fly!!!
Fun
Ginger, the gorgeous Persian cat, is a very lazy one! He hardly moves or plays. But when it comes to his meal time, Gingee, his “pet” name, would absolutely eat anything and everything. Eggs, meat, milk, vegetables, give him anything and he’ll finish everything. Now as we know, Ginger is very lazy, this one incident really left us surprised at him. One fine evening, a fly got in, and it was making everyone in the house angry. And

then it followed me to my room where Gingee was asleep. Gingee woke up to the sound of the fly and started following it everywhere. After the fly was nowhere to be seen and it was time for Gingee’s lunch, I called him but there was no reply. He kept his mouth closed and refused to eat. On forcing his mouth open, we saw the insect fly away! We all laughed, and after a lot of hard work the fly was gone! anka malik

Fun Science this time brings to you an amazing experiment on how to make your own parachute! Get, set, fly You need • A plastic bag • Scissors • String • A small object for weight Instructions Cut out a large octagon (an eight sided shape) from the plastic bag. Make a small hole at each of the eight corners. Tie eight pieces of string of equal length to every hole. Tie the hanging ends of the strings to the item you took as a weight. Take this parachute and drop it from above to learn what happens.

Only about 10% of the entire world’s population is left-handed. We need to mix our food with saliva to taste it. You can try this yourself by first drying your mouth completely, and then asking a friend to feed you something while your eyes are closed.

About 70% to 80% of a normal human brain is made up of water. The teeth enamel is the hardest matter in our body. The hyoid bone is the only bone in our body that is not stuck to any other bone. It is stuck to muscles instead.

When we sneeze, we create a wind of 66kmph, and when we cough we create a wind of 100kmph. It is said that the brain gives out the same power as a light bulb. Khatidja Hussein
magic What to do • Hold your left hand to the back of your neck. • Tell your buddies that you are trying to make a coin vanish by rubbing it on your elbow. • Hold the coin in your right hand and rub it on your left elbow. Take away your hand and the coin will drop to the floor. • Act disappointed and tell your buddies that because your trick did not work, you must try again. • Pick the coin up with your left hand and act like you’re putting it in your right hand. • Now put your left hand back behind your neck and start rubbing your left elbow again. Only you know that the coin is concealed in your left hand. • Let the coin drop down your shirt (wear it tucked in!) • Now stop rubbing and take your hand away to show your friends that the coin has vanished!
Disappearing Coin What you need • A coin
How it works When you let go of the parachute, the weight falls slowly because a large area of the parachute, stops the air and slows it down. Sama E Deen
