‘KHALOORIKA’ School for South Indian Martial Arts, Vadakara

In Sanskrit, the word ‘Khaloorika’ denotes a place where weapon’s training is practiced: An instituition for imparting knowledge of and training in the martial arts. The education provided at the ‘Khaloorika’ includes both physical and mental training. It ensures the defence of oneself and of the nation.

PROPOSEDSITE PLAN Location : Narayana Nagar, Vadakara Site Area : 9.9 Acres In 17th century, Thacholi family started teaching Kalari under the guidence of Thacholi Odiyan. This place has provided largest group of Kalari students at any time during the history of Kalari in Kerala.

BUS TERMINAL, Pumpwel

An integrated Bus Terminal in a more centrally located place in the city for easy access from all parts of the city and from outside the city. This Bus Terminal would decongest the city Traffic and also provide adequate parking facility for busses during non-operating hours.



The site has varying levels with hillock on one side and valley on the other. The land on either side of NH 66 is flanked by mostly residential builidings and buildings adjacent to the road are commercial.

The floor plan at level 103 is commercial floor, which is a total of 8 floors. The commercial floors has been divided into two. The two lower floors has entry directly from the highway at two ends of the building. The rest of the floors are above the car parking which stretches upto 7 floors high.

The floor plan at level 116 is for parking. Parking starts from this level and stretches to 7 floors high. Parking has been extended to another block which is 10 floors high, having 1200 4 wheeler and 100 2 wheeler parking approximately.

The floor plan at level 98 which is at 9m below the Road level. This floor has 21 bus bays. Buses approching from pumpwel circle enters a service road 7.5m wide which further leads through an underpass inorder to get to this floor of the bus terminal.
