It seems to me like hybrid golf clubs is a hot topic among golf players and in golfing sites nowadays. It's not as though this type of club is new, but it is not that old either. And since golfing manufacturers spent millions and millions to produce perfectly good hybrid clubs, it is only fitting to do a feature of this equipment for golfing enthusiasts to read. What is a Hybrid Golf Club? From a Scientific or Genetics point of view, "hybrid" means... "Hybrid" - noun; anything derived from heterogeneous sources, a person or group of persons produced by the interaction or crossbreeding of two unlike cultures, traditions, etc. But of course, which leads us to think that a "hybrid" club is an "interaction" or "crossbreeding" of two golf clubs. And that I correct. A hybrid golf club is indeed a cross between two golf clubs, in this case, the iron and the fairway woods. Iron clubs have a flat angled face and are usually used in the green, approaching tough part of the course such as through trees or the foot of a hill. Irons are made of metal and they vary in length (short, long and medium) but with the same flat club heads. A fairway woods, meanwhile, have heads that are traditionally made from hardwood materials like persimmon but nowadays, we can find carbon fiber or titanium fairway club heads. Usually, they are designed for shots off the turf that still need longer trajectory or distance. Hybrid clubs have both the ability of an iron to add spin to the ball but with much higher trajectory and speed than the iron and the power of a fairway woods. Hybrids are generally used to replace low-numbered irons and high-numbered fairway woods to get a player out of a hazard, tricky golfing lies and position. They have posses more precision control and forgiveness and when a golfer has off-center hits, it won't take much effect on the trajectory of the ball. Hybrids golf clubs have shorter shafts than a fairway, which really helps the golfer have more control over his shots and flatter, slightly convex club faces that possesses a "bounce-back" characteristic, lessening the chances of slices in every off-center shots. Usually, hybrids golf clubs usually come in all-weather grips for a more comfortable yet reliable feel and its weight is much more apparent in the club face side.
